Donation in a good cause?

Maria and I were wondering if you would be willing to donate $5 or $10 towards a Cervantes pot. We recently discovered that the Spanish wikipedia has FAs on a number of British and American writers and texts, but we have none on any Spanish-language writers or texts. Emma Goldman

Wow! I've been anxious for this event since I started editing the article. I'm so glad its on the page and thanks for pointing it out because I rarely look at the main page, I just type an article in the Mozila navigation bar. I just reverted one edit and I didn't really realize the burden it would be to revert vandalism. At least theres the “undo” button. Thanks for the heads up! Just checking in

Things are going pretty well so far-- I check in and see if there are interesting or useful articles to edit and then start whacking-- There is something I would like help with -- I am having trouble figuring out how to add images to the articles-- there was an image in ghe Commons area that I thought would be good to add , and I just couldnt figure out how to add it in. from the Tarkan talk page I copy my reaction to your suggestions in case you wouldn't see them there:

"Thank you Scartol, I will try to expand it according to your suggestions. Tarkan deluxe is a weblog yes, but it works like a website, just the host is a blog. The person who writes it is sort of an expert of Tarkan things, - and it's not only his writings that are put to reference, he is doing translations from Turkish newspapers. I decided to include these instead of the respective original newspaper articles as they are more understandable for the English reader, and they are properly translated. The blog owner is a barrister in England, and he is careful to give credits to his translations, always giving the original source as well. If you browse through the blog you'll see the quality of the works. Besides, the artciles he had written on Tarkan are fully referenced with respective Turkish sources, and again, it is easier for everyone to read English sources than to figue out Turkish-written newspaper articles. It's difficult to find English sources for Tarkan and that's exactly the reason why Ali Yildirim created tarkandeluxe, to provide reliable, neutral and proper translations / news on the singer. Hello, Scartol, we've spoken previously. :) I see that the doctor is not in, as it were, and you're not currently accepting copyediting jobs, but if time and interest are available, would you perhaps take the time to have a look at Emily Dickinson? I've been working on it rather obsessively for the last couple weeks (mainly because of the Core Contest), but this is my first all inclusive literary article and I feel as if I'm in over my head. I'm not sure where to go or what to focus on anymore; it's difficult to compare her to other literary articles because so much of her story came after she died. Because you've had so much experience, and I truly admire your FA work (congrats on Tubman!), I would love it if you had the time to throw some feedback my way. The only "input" I'm getting at the moment is from disgruntled high school students, I fear. There's no rush, but I do ultimately want to bring it to GA and then maybe FA one day. Emma Goldman changes

Hello there. Thanks for your attention to Emma Goldman, which I'm rewriting to bring to FA status. I reverted the inclusion of "Suddenly" to the blockquote about her first public speaking experiences, since it's not part of the original text. I would also like to undo the change you made to the position of the image of her gravestone; the extra space currently between the end of "Death" and the beginning of "Philosophy" looks rather unsightly to me. I hope this is an agreeable reversion? (I didn't want to make it on my own without discussing it, since – unlike the quote – it's a matter of preference.) I've now corrected these matters myself. When a sentence is quoted, but does not make sense out of context, words can be substituted or included, but must be placed in parenthesis. When a sentence is abbreviated, be certain to use three period points to note the cut words. I've substituted the word "Suddenly" with the abbreviation note. No further addition is necessary, as the text is understandable out of context. Alternatively, it could have been written as:

:(Suddenly,) something strange happened....

Again, this addition was unnecessary. Abbreviation will be enough.

As for the space added to the end of the Death sub-section: I made this addition because the image of Goldman's grave was conflicting with the Anarchism template, causing bleeding in words in the Anarchism sub-section. As the template has been lowered, this problem is resolved and the space can be removed. I have resolved this myself.

A few years ago I was travelling from Warsaw to Riga by train, en route to Moscow. The only itinerary I could find included a 7-hour stop, from about 5 p.m. to midnight in Emma's hometown Kaunas. Everything was closing down and I wanted to save my touristy energy for Riga (which is lovely). It was a gray little town, at least near the train station. The only thing open was the movie theater, and so I bought a ticket to the film Enemy at the Gates which had been out for some time, but had only recently been subtitled in Lithuanian. There was a bit of a mix-up however, and the theater ended up playing Battlefield Earth instead. Easily the worst movie I've ever seen. What do you think about taking it up a notch for Emma and including multiple citations in each note? That way the reader can be sure that each fact is supported by several sources is not the whimsical interpretation of one historian. Slipknot (band)

Over the past week I have dedicated a lot of my free time to restructuring and bettering the article Slipknot (band) which is one of my favourite bands. Actually, while I have you here, there is a minor inconsistency in the Emma Goldman article that you might want to address. You spell Dostoyevsky both with and without the middle 'y'. Naturally, both are valid spellings, but unless I missed a reason for doing it both ways, you might want to stick with one spelling within the article. Les Chouans GA review

Scartol, I'm reviewing the Les Chouans article for the GA nomination process and it looks good, but I'm uncertain about any material that came from either the French WP article or from a French language source. Re: Madtown and trains

Thanks for the kind words. Editing here gives me another reason to look around and research further into topics that I might not investigate otherwise. There are a few other local wikipedians around, here and on Commons. The only one I can think of off the top of my head, though, is Dhartung in Janesville. There are likely others participating in WikiProject Wisconsin nearby; a wikimeetup would be good some time. The Madison Flickr group, where I am also involved, often meets at the Union Terrace every couple of months for beer and photo chat. I explained where it is "purported" he considered studying special education in the discussion section of the page on him. The reference is a solid one and has been used by at least one of his biographers. So, in fact it is referenced. Arguing about if it is a solid one or not is a seperate issue.
