re: Userpages

Well... Mezmerizer has a subpage off of his userpage for his band that got speedied... and it hasn't been AfD'd or anything. Look at WP:USERPAGE. I actually think that you can't advertise on your userpage. But I'm not sure. I am in transit to work so I will be around later on today. 156.34.224.2 (talk) 12:23, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

PS... archive your talk page.... it's getting lengthy and I'm getting carpal tunnel just scrolling down to the bottom of it :-D . 156.34.224.2 (talk) 12:24, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Bah! Archived just for you! I did it with the edit summary: "Archiving 'cause Libsey is getting a sore mouse hand." - So now everyone thinks that you're not the manly Canadian you think you are :-D ScarianTalk 13:35, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Oh yeah! Just remembered that you're not allowed to advertise on Wikipedia :-D - I removed it. If it's not notable enough (How many bands with 14 year olds are?) then your userpage isn't the next step to get an article on Wikipedia; that's my reasoning anyway. Have a good day! ScarianTalk 13:39, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: Navlos

Sounds like a good idea. He could benefit from realising where he's going wrong [which is in most places] too. Funeral 22:17, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

And I wouldn't RfC Rock Soldier... I would submit a bonafideedeedeledee WP:SSP on him. His last few edits match Alterego's IP socks. His edit summaries are leaning toward uncivil... Admin Cholmes75 is familiar with him. BUt he's also not online too much lately. I will ask for his thoughts. He said he felt there have been similarities all along... just not enough for a full bore check. I think there is now. 156.34.224.2 (talk) 23:24, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
I am heading off to the smelly, stinky, grungy port city of Saint John today. I leave Wiki in your capable hands until I return tomorrow. Don't forget to rv Elfoids pov on ac/dc. Don't let any </br> trolls get away with their agendas. Compare Rock Soldiers edits to User:Alterego269's... and his IPs... I think you'll find some striking similarities. And if any article on Wikipedia gets vandalised whilst I am gone... I am holding you personally responsible. :D. Have a nice day! 156.34.223.191 (talk) 11:02, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Roger, you got it. Have a nice time! Don't forget to bring me back something nice! Take care. ScarianTalk 11:07, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you very much for fixing the vandalism on my page.--Jab843 (talk) 00:20, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Yep. BTW - this guy has a long history of forcing these lists (and unnecessary band member details) into Wikipedia. He tried pushing them into both Nirvana and Foo Fighters last year - both were rejected by editors (some old discussion is on the Foo Fighters' talk page). I guess now he's resorting to creating new articles for them as a way to get around consensus. But he's done this for a number of bands, and refuses to discuss changes when people take exception to his contributions. (I fully believe the sockpuppet note on his talk page.) -- ChrisB (talk) 04:10, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Point taken

I just don't think anyone with that kind of attitude should have their opinion taken as seriously as other people's.

And I was only doing it because he was commenting on the credibility of people who supported my argument. Had he not done that, I would have kept my personal opinion on him out of it. (The Elfoid (talk) 16:36, 21 November 2007 (UTC))

I've said what I want to, made my point. Our argument can continue - he and I are even now. That's my take. I'm glad you look at this this way though - it shows you're a reasonable guy even if you're on the other side of me in a debate. (The Elfoid (talk) 16:45, 21 November 2007 (UTC))

They're reliable enough that we can't ignore them. (The Elfoid (talk) 16:51, 21 November 2007 (UTC))

plural singular

while it is acceptable to use the singular form in American English, this is nothing to do with American English, when a band name is plural, then it is treated as plural in both American and British English. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_and_British_English_differences#Formal_and_notional_agreement

It is a collective noun, when collective nouns take the plural form, they are refered to using the plural form. Please undo your edit, unless you have something which disproves what I am saying/have linked to...thanks Sennen goroshi (talk) 16:40, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

If only you had read a little more Proper nouns that are plural in form take a plural verb in both AmE and BrE; for example, The Beatles are a well-known band; The Colts are the champions.

Sennen goroshi (talk) 16:48, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

I never considered it to be a wikipedia guideline, I just considered it to be English grammar.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beach_Boys

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Melvins

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Misfits

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dead_Kennedys

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Four_Tops

btw... I typed in the names of five american bands, that all have a plural name...guess what...each article refers to them using the plural form...so it would seem as if most people are already aware of this grammatical rule.Sennen goroshi (talk) 17:01, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

If there are american bands that use "is" thats fine... Metallica is...fine... however Metallica is not a plural term. It just seemed weird to me that the first five american bands with plural names that I looked for all had the plural term. But then again, you will have to take my word for it, that I didn't spend 10mins searching for bands that used the plural form, and ignored those that didn't... 3RR is going to make sure this doesn't get fucked with for at least 23 and a bit hours...and I guess I wont push it and wait for 24hrs and 3 seconds...but consensus aint shit, British vs American English isnt relevant here (American band) but rules of grammar should count for something. I am going to sleep now, so I wont do much else right now, but I will try and find something that proves one of us to be in the right. If you are right, then I will apologise for my shitty grammar...lets wait and see.Sennen goroshi (talk) 17:10, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
It's nice to see that just as I was about to sleep, some wonderful person has taken a great interest in my edits. I don't care if we disagree over some shitty grammar issues, it annoys me so much that other users take such a great interest in shit that doesn't concern them and isn't a real issue anyway. Anyway...if I can drag myself away from this PC, and have another scotch, I might get to sleep.latersSennen goroshi (talk) 17:37, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Diffs are coming along well! Really showing some obvious similarities. When a proper case is built you own personal commentaries need to be rm'd... but I recommend that you hold on to your pristine original... all nasty/funny/whatever comments included (I may throw some of my own in :D ). The fact that the two are one in the same jumped right out at you... jumped right out at Mr F... jumped right out at me...etc. Making it jump out for a Wiki admin should be easy (unless a particularly dim one ends up reviewing the case) Wait... is there such a thing as a dim admin???... Nahhhh... there shouldn't be any problem.
RS's last few days of editing are really nailing him on being a sock(actually.. he is the puppetmaster) for Alterego269 and his many blocked IPs. His positive contributions have been many. But when he can't force his own agenda onto Wiki I'm afraid he uses "Alterego's". And sometime he forgets which personality he's editing as. His recent edits are driving it home.
Elfy was offended by my veteran Wiki observations and recommended that I not make any more comments about the overflowing population of teens who are very bad editors and are ruining hundreds of music articles on a daily basis. He also felt that pointing out blocked sockpuppeteers was not good either... strange?... I rather like it when someone points out the trolls. My observations are valid and I have been making the same commentaries on many talk pages for over 2 years. In the past, the only editors who took offence to my comments were the ones who were a part of the "useless teen editor" demographic I was singling out. I don't recall actually indicating the Elfy was a part of that group? Many teenagers on here are very good editors.... many are admins. I have added support votes for 'now' admins who are barely into high-school age. They've all done well. But the "other" demographic still exists... in abundance. Elfy works very hard at music articles. A few of his edits are good. But from his very first edit he fell into a trap that many editors fall into. The ones who haven't learned that "making an article longer... doesn't make it better" trap. Elfy is notorious for adding content to articles that already exists, more appropriately/better cited/better written, in other articles. But he's learning. My AGF is that his editing skills will improve in time. He needs a mentor to help break him out of his bad habits. Looking for a job? :D 156.34.210.66 (talk) 11:42, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

RE: Hold your horses there buddy

Please don't jump to conclusions. I was referring to Years_active. Kameejl (Talk) 07:39, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

The only reason really is that I saw the caps were not conform WP:MUSTARD and because 1 genre was on 2 rows (in other cases I don't change anything). I saw a chance to improve the lay out in 2 ways by only changing the delimiter. Kameejl (Talk) 09:50, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
I feel you are reading in between the lines. I didn't say things that are necessarily false. If editor X stops, editor Y will stop, that's all I meant to say. Kameejl (Talk) 14:18, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

RE: Question

Possibly, but the evidence seems questionable and I would suggest not going down that route if it can be avoided. Neither editor seems to have edited for a few days now (although one was blocked for some of that time), and perhaps the edit war is calming down. Requesting a check user, especially if it turns out to be negative, may just inflame matters. Cheers TigerShark (talk) 00:47, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Citing

Yeah, I'd love some help on that. Thanks! CherryFlavoredAntacid (talk) 18:10, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! That'll help me alot.

I would like to know how to cite books, too. I've got an autobiography that I think could lend a citation or two for a few things. So I'd love to know how to cite it. CherryFlavoredAntacid (talk) 18:44, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

And also, yay, you get what song my name is from! :) CherryFlavoredAntacid (talk) 19:35, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I use this name in alot of places, so it's always nice when someone gets it. Though alot of people just think it has to do with pepto bismol. I think the strangest guess at what my name was, was by someone who apparently didn't know what an "antacid" was. They thought it was "ant acid", apparently, so they thought it was cherry-flavored ant poisoning. But anyway. Ha, alright. Good luck remembering! Maybe if you look at the code on a page that cites a book, seeing it will jog your memory? CherryFlavoredAntacid (talk) 20:28, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Just one quick question on that. The "last=" and "first=" Is that referring to pages that include the information? And thanks a ton! This will help me alot. :) CherryFlavoredAntacid (talk) 20:36, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Anthony Kiedis. I don't know how much information I have that isn't in there, but I have his autobiography, so I imagine there's some information that I could lend to the article, if I looked. So would "authorlink=" be a link to a wikipedia page about the author, if they had one? CherryFlavoredAntacid (talk) 20:42, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Okay, just a few more questions. What do you put in "location" "isbn" "oclc" "doi" "id" "chapterurl" and "ref"? Also, would "quote" be like, exactly what the book says? I.E. | quote = "After successfully vanquishing the gnomes, Larry and Floyd headed home." I'm just full of questions, aren't I? But thanks for all your help so far. CherryFlavoredAntacid (talk) 20:59, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!! I'll go test this out in the sandbox to get the hang of it. Thanks again! CherryFlavoredAntacid (talk) 21:21, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

What do you think?

Ten Masked Men... and AfD or a Speedy D? It's close. 156.34.210.6 (talk) 11:32, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

They fail WP:MUSIC easily. I'll speeeeedy! ScarianTalk 12:48, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Inclusionists abound!!!. They want an AfD. I failed to get Assück (who's article truly sucks ass} speedied and they want an AfD on that one too. Hope your drama thing-a-ma-bob goes well! Break a leg! 156.34.142.110 (talk) 14:55, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Anasarca (band) failed speedy D too??? I am always surprised at the junk that gets permission to push some free advertising on here. 156.34.142.110 (talk) 15:00, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Argh! only one of my, more than valid, speedies went to the trash. The rest have to be AfD'd. Scourges!!!!... everyone of of them... scourges!!! 156.34.142.110 (talk) 15:41, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Why would you possibly want to delete the article? If you read the earlier discussion about deletion of the page, you would see that the band is notable and has a place on wikipedia. I can only think it was a personal attack on me, yet I'm supposed to agf and I will. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:45, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

As mentioned by other contributors on the AfD discussion, the article fails to assert the notability and also it fails all of the criterion for WP:MUSIC. Also, I did not know that you were the creator of said article, ergo it cannot be construed (Or manipulated to seem like) a personal attack. ScarianTalk 22:48, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
...obviously it does not fail those things if it was kept...also I assumed food faith, I wasn't trying to manipulate anything, I just wasn't sure because it was you...we may disagree on the genre delimiter issue, but I do believ in following wikpedia's rules and all that stuff. I aim to be constructive. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:54, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

No, it was kept because there were more people (3 vs. 2 - which is pretty low for AfD standards). That doesn't mean it does meet the criterion... it simply means it was a vote. ScarianTalk 22:55, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey, if you don't like the article that's your opinion. However, it was kept for good reason, and if you would like to edit it in a constructive way, go ahead. It is a quite notable Australian band, the first of its genre. If for no other reason it should be kept because Australians use the english wikipedia and it is a notable band in Australia. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 23:26, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
  • sighs* [I really am sighing because you're misinterpreting what I am saying] It fails a guideline. This has absolutely nothing to do with whether I like the article or not. I've AfD'd it because it fails WP:MUSIC. ScarianTalk 23:32, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
"Article fails all criterion of WP:MUSIC. Article has no strong, third party, independent references to back up claims of grandeur. Does not assert notability and has nothing that would support its notability."
Your quote, however, if you were to read the previous discussion, AllMusicGuide is its source and shows notability. And AMG has been determined to be a good source. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 23:36, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Your thoughts...

Not likely an NN/AfD. But Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra is certainly a POV laden piece of advertising if I've ever read one. Somewhere along the way there had to be a COI on this one. Probable copyvio too from an external source. Haven't had time to look deeper into the cruft.

Haha - I hate advertising too. I'll get right on it. ScarianTalk 15:39, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Pre-advertised personal agendas are never a good thing for Wikipedia. WP:EL was quoted long ago to our assailant but I am guessing he didn't read it. :D . His talk page ranting vios the {talkpageheader} a bit. I could be all snakelike and delete it. But the editors attack actually promotes librarian edits. As I've said all along... 156 make no mistakes :D . He'll earn an NPA block for attitudes like that. People need to lighten up in here and have more fun. :D 156.34.142.110 19:02, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Ohh... he's been a really bad boy. I'm glad you can take crap like that :-D - Hey, just remember: Snakes have a good sense of smell and they can smell "stuff" from a mile away :-D ScarianTalk 20:41, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I reverted that stuff and removed your I.P. info from the talk page. I gave him a written warning, too. Btw, do you have access to Pocketwatch (album) at your library? ScarianTalk 20:52, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Rfa thanks

One of my favorite places Dear Scarian,

Thank you for supporting in my recent RfA. Allas, the smile has gone from my sig, but not from my face. Words nor pictures can express my heartfelt appreciation at the confidence the community has shown me. I am both heartened and humbled by this confidence. I will carry the lessons learned from the constructive criticism I have received with me as I edit Wikipedia, and heed those lessons. Special thanks to Pedro and Henrik as nominators. Special thanks to Rudget who wanted to. A very special thanks to Moonriddengirl for her eloquence.

Cheers, Dlohcierekim 22:50, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Please read WP:CIVIL. Edit summaries (e.g. [1]) where you referred to an anonymous user as a "snake" is completely unacceptable. You're adding in links that violate the external links policy; the anon. was completely correct in taking it out. Please also read WP:AGF. The anon., like you, is trying to improve Wikipedia. He is not a "vandal", he happens to be an incredibly experienced Wikipedian. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me. (By the way, "I will reinsert until the cows come home." if you do decide to continue to add it in "...until the cows come home", you may get blocked for WP:3RR.) ScarianTalk 20:48, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I have read the external links policy, and find no violation of that policy whatsoever. So let me get this straight, so I can understand what you are arguing more clearly... if I log on anonymously and start deleting content from wikipedia, and hide behind PUBLICLY ASSIGNED IP addresses, instead of registering and using my logon persona, somehow I would then have more credibility than a wiki member? What's the point of registering and contributing? In my book, anyone who deletes content under an anonymous IP number is a coward/vandal (irregardless of the politically correct community here it at wikipedia, one man's description is another man's "name calling"). What is the politically correct/sensitive term that describes a person who deletes content anonymously. Huh? Sign in and take responsibility for what you do. Regardless of whether you like what I type, I own it and stand behind it. Mark Estabrook

Heart (band)

Thanks for your assistance. I've decided it's least confusing (to me) to have a copy of all of the discussion in the one place. And, for simplicity (for me), my talk page seems to be the least confusing place. (Our anonymous friend's IP address seems to unexpectedly change every now and then ... ) Pdfpdf 11:52, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Are you buying RfA votes?

HA! just kidding! Good job staying on top of the conversations! You will get nom'd to be an admin someday. And maybe I will create a sockpuppet account just so I can vote for you :-D... again... just kidding.... maybe ;) . 156.34.217.48 02:13, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

You didn't see nuthin' Slips a fifty into Lib's jacket pocket. Casually walks away... ScarianTalk 02:15, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Ummm. Errrr. Ummmm. I don't know what to say. I suppose "Thanks" might be a good start? Pdfpdf 12:24, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Lib's was joking about me buying RfA votes btw :-D - Anyway, I gave it to you because I noticed [After Lib's had explained his rationale] that you didn't continue you arguing your point. You calmly agree'd with his way of thinking and you were very polite about it. We don't see much of that on Wikipedia and it is lovely to see that people are as mature as yourself. Take care. Happy editing! ScarianTalk 13:16, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Well, I guess I'd rather be called "mature" than senile!!! Happy editing to you too! Best Wishes Pdfpdf 13:23, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Master of Puppets(complaint)

I'm not exactly sure what that editor is asking of me, as he's been cryptic in all his replies. I think he thinks I'm out to get him or something. Oh well, cheers! Master of Puppets Care to share? 17:30, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

No worries! ScarianTalk 17:32, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Cryptic? Hehh, you just haven't got a clue is all. I got nothing against -you-, Like I said you should get out and see the REAL world. Maybe you will get a clue. Yer defaming me based solely upon yer POV. You have been running around Wikipedia sniveling like a crybaby to anybody who would listen. Any dispute was long ago settled by RJEDIT, unsatisfied you go sniveling elsewhere for somebody at Wiki to do something about it. Jeez us get a life why dontcha?

Cheers..

12.5.63.8 18:12, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

So you reverted his talk page just cause he asked you too? That's just great, that means it is my word against his as to what was said on it. NO evidence at all, which is what he REAALY wanted to begin with. Did you ever stop to think it was just a puton by HIM?

My opinion of the objectivity here on wiki is getting lower and lower all the time. Everything just gets swept under the rug around here in a hurry apparently. Critics have declared it unacademic, I am beginning to see why that is.

12.5.63.8 18:22, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

What? ScarianTalk 18:25, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

See you don't even know what I am talking about, you didn't even give it a second thought. When Master of Puppets came crying to you YOU jumped without any thought that he may be in the wrong and I may be in the right. Yes I am the one Master of Puppets is complaining about. And no I'm not following him, I'm responding to your warning in order to clear things up between you and I even if MOP wants to continue complaining, just like I cleared things up with RJEDIT who thought the dispute was settled and to tell you the truth so did I.

Cheers..

12.5.63.8 19:02, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Scarian, I know you are busy, but I left a reply to your post on my discussion board. I would like this issue resolved as soon as possible.

Cheers..

12.5.63.8 19:33, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

As far as I am concerned there is no problem if you keep away from any users that you have entered into conflict with. I have no idea what you're talking about. It will resolved if you just carry on contributing to Wikipedia. Everything will be resolved if you just keep editing Wikipedia and focus on improving it.
Please recognise what I am saying. Stay away from MOP or anyone else causing you problems and carry on contributing.
That's it. It is that simple. It has nothing to do with your place of birth or nationality/origin. It's all about caring for this place and making it better.
So, please, just stay away from users whom you are having problems with and just contribute. ScarianTalk 19:40, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

My thoughts exactly, to just stay away from him. as far as POV, I'm totally NPOV it doesn't make a hill of beans to me. And yes I just wanna make wiki an unbiased place. With all the different POV's running around, I know it's not easy.

Best of luck to you..

Bruce

Ready for your nomination yet? :D

Just kidding... you'll know when the time is right. I see you have met the great Master of Puppets. He is a fine young editor... champion of the 'Wiki-cause'... and a former ally to my old user account ( he would not know me as an IP.. none of my former friends do... although I don't doubt that many of them could take an educated guess. :D ) I do not have much AGF for young editors. (I am sure you know that already)... but Master of Pupptets is a grand exception from the lot... he is very young... but he is... as I like to say... "noble". There are 2 events on Wikipedia that have left a bad taste in my mouth. I am talking "events" not editors... we all know that there are hundreds of editors who I can't stand... I am speaking strictly about events. One 'event' was the failure of the Paul McCartney Featured Article push. It failed for having too many citations!!!... something I've always felt was a slap on what Wiki was supposed to be. The other 'event' was MoP's failed admin nomination. Again... a perfectly postive editor and a great "community" companion to all... and it failed because he was too much "community" and not enough "edit". I was a stong supporter of that RfA... and I never felt right about the community after it failed. MoP has had a long hiatus from Wiki. It is good to see him back editing again. When I first stumbled across you and your edit habits here on Wikipedia... it was MoP that you reminded me of. He is a good one to have as a Wiki-friend. Most of my old "friends" from user account days long since past have left Wikipedia for good. (usually in extreme frustration). I am glad to see some of them returning to the fold as a late... Master of Puppets being one of them. Keep him close to your sleeve. He can certainly help you design a grand Userpage. It's something he is really good at and has helped many along the way. Let me know when your're ready for the toolbox. As I said before... I will create a sock account just so's I can vote for ya. :D 156.34.217.48 21:45, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Well... I don't really know what to write after that, haha. In case you're interested in seeing my nomination, it is right here. It might be useful, as you can read through all the opposing comments and see what people look for. I found it very useful, because after all, constructive criticism is a Godsend.
Anyway, I see where you're coming from, but I'd like to settle this with the user. He seems to have some misconceptions as to how this issue was being handled, and keeps accusing me of being the administrator of that page and controlling other users (for example, telling you to revert my talk page, using SineBot to sign his edits). He may have some useful insight on the Antichrist article, but I'd just like to help him with his presentation. Cheers, Master of Puppets Care to share? 22:13, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Sure, that's fine, MoP. I just wanted the guy to calm down and stop thinking the whole Wikipedia world was against him. At least he was mature enough to just accept when he had to stop! Oh yes, I did find your RfA earlier and I was looking through it to see if I could find Libs' old account :-D - Unfortunately I couldn't see it but now I realise how many Australian's there really are on Wikipedia.
Libs: I don't think I will run for admin. At least maybe not for another year? I had some trouble back in the summer that will have tarnished this account. No bother though. I'm still working on bribing those admins to give you 23 more barnstars so you'll get an account :-D - Go persuade Funeral to be an admin, he'd be ready for it in about another one to two thousand edits? ScarianTalk 22:20, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Funeral is "grooming" himself quite nicely. You will both be ready soon. Mr Puppets has taken an unsuccessful stab at my alterego. Care to wager a guess? I may not have been a Canuck in my past you know :D . I travel/work abroad often. And I have spent some time editing from areas other than my hometown. You already know that since you nabbed me red handed in New Zealand. (I can't hide from you anywhere can I :D ) I will tell you one thing though... my stint at the University will be ending in the near future. And I will be moving on. I will still be providing services to the school remotely so there will still be 156.34 edits. But I will be based somewhere else and will likely have a whole new range. Who knows... I may even create an account. But if I do it will contain the words 'libs' so everyone will know it's me. And if I don't create an account... the game will be on... and we will see how long it takes for you to catch me :D . Have a nice day! 156.34.217.48 22:59, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

How about User:Thumbelina? :-D - Nope. Absolutely no idea. Hazard another clue? ScarianTalk 23:37, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: User:Mafiadollsauthor

Ok I've spent the last few minutes trying to comprehend if it's a novel or not. If that was in an article, it would be deleted as a copyvio or under WP:CSD#A7 because the author isn't notable. A block isn't needed. But if it's a novel about herself, it should probably be deleted per WP:UP#NOT. To be honest, I'm really not sure whether the page should be deleted. But I see User:Collard has tagged it for a speedy. Let's see how this ends up. Spellcast 00:43, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and deleted it. It was basically a pure ad for the editor's novel, cheers. Looking back, I remember similar cases as well. Spellcast 00:55, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: Question

Have you ever thought about being an admin? ScarianTalk 23:39, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

You seem to be very good at the unexpected!
Ummm. In answer to your question: "Not really. It seems to me they spend their wiki-time dealing with the least pleasant people on WP, and frequently have their user pages vandalised, often in very offensive ways." Is there an "up" side to being an admin? Pdfpdf 09:19, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Mmmmm. (BTW: Never underestimate the power of flattery. (But don't overestimate it either ... ))
Well, thanks for the kind words. I'll give it some thought. Pdfpdf 09:50, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Further BTW: There are those on WP who may not agree that I am "very patient and controlled". Pdfpdf 09:54, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

On Kameejl's page. Have a nice day. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 00:04, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, thanks. I probably will. Have a nice day at school, buddy :-) ScarianTalk 00:07, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
  • sigh* I am at school. It's called college. Also I ask you to stop the deletion of Bestial Warlust per WP:SNOW, because you wanted the article deleted for a lack of multiple reliable sources. Well now it has the AMG source and the Death Metal Music book source, which is reliable. Take a look at the arguments and what I added in to the article. See what you think. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 18:01, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
An admin will close it if WP:SNOW becomes apparent. But at the moment there is no snowball. And plus I didn't just call for its deletion because of lack of multiple sources. It's pretty even. There is a good chance that no consensus will be reached and the article will stay based on the fact that the community couldn't decide whether or not to delete it. ScarianTalk 18:05, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Feel like I am being followed

All the young'ns seem to follow behind me and revert me edits even though I quote policy in just about every edit summary. I'm never wrong? I fail to see the fascination with rv'ing WP:POL corrections. There's this one guy who has a strange fascination with me. I think he's confusing me with the guy his mother had the affair with??? I don't know??? I haven't been in junior high school since 1978! What makes these young editor think the way they do nowadays??? 156.34.232.128 (talk) 21:48, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Really? 1978, you say? Ha - just messing. I'll take a look! ScarianTalk 21:53, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

WP:CANVAS

What's funny is I was just reading your convo with 156. on that policy. So I apologize - I didn't know that till now. --CircafuciX (talk) 21:01, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

What the hell? I didn't break WP:CANVAS. I told CircafuciX to vote, not how to vote. Also, if you read the convo, we happen to be of the same opinion, so we're not convincing each other of anything, because we agree, on that issue, anyways. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Navnløs (talkcontribs) 17:47, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Evidence of WP:CANVAS

"I already voted on the doom metal and black metal list, you should do the same." from [2]. "Should" is the imperative modal verb in the sentence; implying compliance. Also, in the context of your discussion with Circa., the connotations of your discussion are quite obviously breaching the policy. I suggest in future you avoid any language that could be perceived as canvassing. I'll repeat; even if you honestly didn't mean to, please try to avoid using words that can sound as if you're trying to persuade someone (or visa versa). ScarianTalk 17:55, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

I will be aware of that, but you're still wrong. "You should do the same" as in you should vote, I didn't say how. Also, even if I told him to vote with me he already stated he was of the same mind as me. He came to me saying he wanted the lists kept, and I told him I agreed and that I voted and he should do the same. As in "let your opinion be heard"...we were already of the same mind, so this convo is moot. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 17:58, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for the Barnstar! Yes, I actually feel sorry for these new users who submit a request for adminship in good-faith, and then sometimes leave the site when their RfA gets hit with unnecessary pile-on strong opposes. I believe that new users who create an RfA in good-faith should be given advice and guidance rather than the impression that they've done something seriously wrong. After all, the new user who submitted their RfA in good-faith, got blasted, and left could easily have been our next Deskana or WJBscribe. Acalamari 00:00, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Support vs. Oppose/Neutral

Users may support without a reason, since it tells a candidate that he/she might be ready. However, oppose and neutral votes must have a reason because the candidate must know why users are opposing them or voting neutral. Supports without a reason is fine, but opposes and neutral without reason would be confusing. NHRHS2010 talk 14:06, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

I am talking about opposes and neutrals without a reason can cause confusion and can be unhelpful. NHRHS2010 talk 14:09, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
I remember that one time, I opposed without a reason, but then EVula said that the oppose without reason is unhelpful. NHRHS2010 talk 14:37, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Arena rock

I was confused by your recent edit of Asia (band): you say the Arena rock article says it is not a genre, but the article does describe itself as a subgenre...? Bondegezou (talk) 00:00, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

I will clarify for you Scarian. Arena rock is not actually a music genre... it's simply a "term" used to umbrella in a group of bands and solo acts who were filling stadiums with their radio friendly variation on hard rock. Hard rock being played in a stadium (or arena) is... in the end... just hard rock. It's a common misuse of "term" vs. "genre" on Wikipedia. It's not the only one. Glam metal... is nothing more than heavy metal played by musicians wearing spandex and make-up. If you couldn't see what the artist looked like... the music would be described as heavy metal... turn the lights on and suddenly the music is "different" because you can see what the performer looks like??? Again, another common blunder on Wiki. The Beatles were the biggest act of the 'British Invasion'. So were the Rolling Stones and The Kinks and The Who and...etc... was there "genre" British Invasion"???... certainly not... but for some reason that "term" gets added periodically to those bands infobox genre fields. One major major Wiki foul-up is that both Arena rock AND British Invasion both appear in the Rock Genre template??? Somewhere along the way someone incredibly stupid stuck those in that template and no one caught on... now... everyone's so use to seeing them there... they don't know how to correct it. The arena rock article is slowly being cleaned, and ref'd, of all it's previous 'genre' baggage. And it has been removed from hundreds of infobox genre fields... just like Brit Invasion is and NWOBHM is and so on. Thanks for repairing the Asia infobox of it's incorrect field entry. And have a nice day! 156.34.216.38 (talk) 00:41, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Yeah I get what you mean about the diffs. I didn't have more time to provide evidence, because I scrambling like crazy right now. I'm working on other stuff andf trying to fix a few articles at the same time and I don't have enough time!! But I do know that I'm right about both of those users. The second one is just a vandal breaking WP:CON and WP:POV and Twsx is seriously edit warring as much as he likes to deny everything. He thinks he can do no wrong. Not to be offensive but sometimes you come off a little high and mighty to me, too. But anyways that's not my point, sorry. At some point I do want to archive my stuff but I don't have time now!! ARGH...CRAP now I realized I have a class coming up!!! omf Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:57, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I appreciate all that, everything you said and the archiving. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 23:08, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Also, look again on what I said nhow at WP:ANI. Your answer makes no sense. I responded with this: "Look, I get what you are saying, but the user is still edit warring! I was blocked before for doing the same thing on the same issue!!! Scarian knows this. I was doing the same thing on the Iron Maiden page and I got blocked for edit warring. Well, Twsx is doing the same thing, and consensus or not on the genre delimiter issue, the user keeps reverting and showing an agenda for this and that has to be worth something!...otherwise I could start going to pages changing ALL the genre delimiters and reverting everyone and simply say "theres no consensus on the subject, so I won't stop and you can't stop me". Now I want justice!" and other things. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 23:34, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

Ban my IP, its a school IP. And its used for vandalism.--66.195.91.65 (talk) 21:40, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Request for (your) comment

Hello Scarian. I have put together a small page with a collection of my arguments concerning a) the comma vs. line breaks issue and b) my favourite wikipedian, Navnløs. As I am not always 100% familiar with policy and conventions on wikipedia, and you always seemed to be to me, I wanted to ask if you could take a look at it and give me your input (corrections, enhancements, criticism) about it, if you find the time. The page is located here: User:Twsx/Commas_vs._Linebreaks. Thank you in any case. ~ | twsx | talkcont | 10:38, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

I do not have an opinion on commas or linebreaks; thus I cannot give an opinion on the actual edit warring. I would like to remind all parties involved that WP:3RR has been breached numerous times. As a notice; if anymore 3RR breaches occur I would advise users NOT to revert again but to take it to WP:ANI. It is that simple. If you continue to revert because you think it's "wrong" - then you will be warned and (possibly) blocked as a preventative measure to protect Wikipedia.
So, to sum up... rather than continuously warring over an unbelievably tiny spec (on a colossal spectrum), discuss the issue or bring it up at WP:ANI for a third opinion. If you revert you'll face getting warned and then blocked.
I do believe all parties agree'd to the "armistace" set out. Why don't we all keep to that? No more reverts until a consensus is made? Sound logical? We leave articles as exactly as they are at this very moment in time (Even if they've never ever been commas/line breaks before). It would save so much hassle if we could keep to that. Take care, guys. ScarianTalk 14:20, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Not exactly what I meant, but thank you for your opinion anyway. The page is no talk page though, so I moved your comment here. Thanks again. ~ | twsx | talkcont | 14:37, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Scarian if "an unbelievably tiny spec (on a colossal spectrum)" isn't already trademarked do so, that's a great expression :) --Alf melmac 15:44, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Scarian, I told Twsx the same thing about the armistice and he refused to listen before. You still never answered me, though. I got blocked because of edit warring on Iron Maiden. Twsx is doing the same thing I was doing even MORE, and he gets nothing? There's no justice. Well, hopefully, he won't change those pages anymore. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 20:41, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

I guess that all makes sense. I don't know who the blocking admin is, though. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 23:52, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

SCARIAN, SCARIAN!!!! Uh, User:Twsx reverted those pages again. So now, he will be reported and I hope you'll help per your conversation on the topic. It's obvious Twsx refuses to listen to anyone. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 18:03, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

I will hold off on reverting those pages, as I don't want to get in trouble, until yous say your piece. I still got no answer as to why I was blocked from Iron Maiden before. Twsx is doing what I did, but on two pages and worse. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 18:11, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

I will have a word with Twsx. I think that admin isn't active so often anymore. Well done for controlling your revert finger, btw :-) ScarianTalk 18:16, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Alright, thank you. May I now revert those senseless edits by Twsx? Or should I wait for a bit? Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 18:22, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Alright, alright. I'll hold off, but I'm telling you, it's taking all my restraint...(it'd be soooo easy...just a lil click) and it is hurting me! and most likely the users' or anyone's eyes that look at that page!!! (so easy, just...1 click). But, I'll hold for now. Eventually I will change it, though, if no one else does. Kameejl or CircafuciX might, too. Sie sprechst Deutsch? Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 18:32, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia policy

First, in response to the Twsx issue, I still feel I have to revert those edits at some point in the near future. I will give it time, but in this case Twsx is the wrongdoer, not I, so I don't feel he should get his way with those edits, and I shouldn't get in trouble for reverting them. I'll hold off for now, though. Ich spreche auch ein bisschen Deutsch. Okay, on a seperate note, I've been looking for IP vandals and reporting them to ANI. I have to say it is notoriously hard to get some of these user banned or blocked. They get a warning, which does nothing as the users I am reporting have shown they don't care (they've been warned and even blocked before) and they are vandalism only accounts, yet all they get is a warning. THOSE USERS' WHOLE TALK PAGES ARE FILLED WITH WARNINGS!!! Yet they still won't be blocked and if they are they just come back and keep vandalising. Wikipedia is ineffective in some areas to me it seems. Those users should be banned permanently. They've shown they don't want to do anything constructive on wikipedia! Warning don't do anything and blocks are just as ineffective with these vandals. Anyways, though, my question is what do you think of roaming IP addresses? I talked about the issue here where an IP address is also only being used for vandalism and a sockpuppet, yet they refuse to block it because a roaming IP address covers millions of people they say. That IP address's talk page is UNREAL. It has a list of warnings and a block, yet they refuse to do anything. The contributions of that IP address show all their edits being rv by other users. Yet, they refuse to do anything. I think roaming IP addresses should be blocked! If those people want to edit wikipedia let them make an account or use a non roaming IP address!!! Anyways, my full argument is on that link there. I think this is a big issue that needs to be taken care of. It is only one issue of many where wikipedia seems rather ineffective of taking care of business. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:07, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

It might be interesting to see what the 156 user thinks about this as well. I'm tired of these IP addresses that are used by multiple people such as the one who asked you to block them. The blocks and warning solve nothing and those particular IP addresses seem to always be used for vandalism. I've run across many of them such as this one: User talk:216.113.168.136 and I'm telling you it disgusts me every time I see that huge multiple users sign on a talk page as it's just a sign of vandalism practically. Whenever you even so much as try to have a conversation with those type of users (multi range multi user IP addresses or w/e) they never respond to you, even when you say "hey, let's talk and get something contructive done instead of editing all these things in that manner" they never respond and blatantly ignore and keep on vandalising pages. It's annoying as hell. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:14, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
What does 156 think? You called me an "enemy" on Nick-nack-tickity-troll-tacks's talk page and now you care what I think?!?.. I am SO honoured :D. Actually... 156 thinks that for every "bad" IP ... there are 25 good ones. School kids will always try to have there fun. And there are hundreds of "Starbucks Anti-Wiki cliques" who get together nightly just to vandalise Wiki over an expensive cup of shitty coffee. The vandal-cliques aren't as easy to catch because their vandalism isn't obvious... it's sneaky... simple year changes or minor spelling errors introduced to destroy Wiki's reliability. (which it has very little of to begin with) Do I wish it didn't happen?... sure. Do I really care and lose sleep over it?... never. I learned a long time ago that for every IP vandal/vandal only accounts that I get blocked.... 10 more step in to take their place. Christmas break is coming though... my favourite time of the year. School computer labs are empty... and the Starbucks trolls are too busy admiring each others new sweaters and man-purses to bother with Wiki. It's when all the good editing gets done. Merry Christmas. 156.34.142.110 (talk) 19:39, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about the enemy thing. We have been at opposition to each other at times, though. E Tac doesn't seem like a vandal, otherwise wouldn't he/ she be blocked more? I still think we should get rid of roaming/ shared IP addresses as it would prevent more vandalism than not. Happy Christ-dying-day-that-was-a-pagan-holiday-that-Christians-stole-from-pagans-like-everything-else Day =) Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:59, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Tic Tac started out as a vandal. And he has been a notorious pest and troll in his past. But he is also the creator of the Christian metal project which is a noble 'wiki-thing' to do and it redeems him greatly. He hates it when he's wrong. More over... he hates it when he's told he's wrong. And his temper has gotten him onto trouble on several occasions simply because he hates to admit it when he's wrong. I haven't known him to vandalise anything for a few months. But he is guilty lately of EUI.. (editing under the influence :D )... which isn't helpful. When editors opinion differs from anothers... it isn't vandalism. But some editors have a hard time understanding that. 156.34.142.110 (talk) 20:20, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
I see. Well that all makes sense. Certainly User:Twsx is guilty of EUI, but I guess that's not against the rules is it? Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 20:22, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

I get off of the phone to my partner and I come back to this?! It's going to take me so long to read through it... -.- Thanks guys :-D ScarianTalk 20:44, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

I think Twsx is under the "I edited first... stop reverting me" influence. :D Scarian did you ever fly to Germany?156.34.142.110 (talk) 20:47, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
I'll mail you big guy. Got some things I gotta say :-D ScarianTalk 20:56, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Mail received and I say... yup, yup, yup, yup and no... you won't die. 30cm of snow yesterday. Some people call that a storm. I've seen a lot worse in my 45+ years. Looks like we'll have a white Christmas this year after 3 years of green ones. It'll be nice. My wife hates snow. My kids love snow. All of our cars have studded snow tires... so I am indifferent to it. 156.34.211.133 (talk) 22:35, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Twsx needs to learn he wasn't the first to edit anything, it's wikipedia. And I meant under the influence as in alcohol. He admitted it to me, once. Germany, huh? TIGHT Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 23:36, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Libsey! Scarian wonders what the colloquial slang word "TIGHT" means... ScarianTalk 12:49, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

lol. "Tight" is the same thing, pretty much, as "sick", "cool", "wicked", "sweet", "brutal"...that sort of thing. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 16:17, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
