If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංඥා බලකාය requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sanathndk, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Reply to email RE:Sri Lanka Signals Corps

[edit]

Hello @Sanathndk:

This is a reply to the email you just sent me- I thought it was best to reply on Wikipedia itself, since a problem seems to have come up.

The problem here is, Santhndk, that you're undoing edits without giving any reason why you're doing them. You're also not following the rules on Wikipedia, and you're making the article worse in terms of references. I understand that you're trying to improve the article, but you need to understand that that's what I'm trying to do as well. Let me try and explain what's going on here.

First, I notice you've rolled back both edits I've done. In both of those edits, I removed the postnominals like 'psc' and 'ndu' because I felt it was pointless to have so many of them in one article- the article ends up looking like an Army website, not an encyclopedia article. Have a look at other Wikipedia articles for military units- you wont find them full of postnominals, because the ordinary reader isn't here to look at what awards the officers have- they're interested in reading about the Signals Corps. What does RWP and USP and the other postnominals add to the article other than confusing a non-Sri Lankan reader? If I were a foreigner reading that article, how would I know what these letters were? Instead of undoing the edits and sending me an email telling me not to edit the article and stay off the page, you could've written a message on my talkpage and we could have discussed this and come to an agreement.

Second, the article doesn't have any sources or references (WP:CS). If you look at the top of the page, you see that there's a box for this exact same reason, asking people to add sources for the information on the page. This is one of the main rules of Wikipedia: WP:VER. You can't just add information because you're in the Signals Corps and claim it's the 'correct' details. Most of the edits I did before you started editing the page were from the Signals Corps webpage- I was about to add some references for the information I added when you started editing the page again, and now, I'm quite sure the details on the article and the details on the website don't match. So now, it's impossible to add any references to that page, because the only source for a lot of that information is you. There's no official website or news article or book to give as a reference.

So the question is, how do we fix this? - ක - (talk) 15:34, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Sanathndk, unfortunately you've had more than sufficient time to respond both at ANI and to the preceding attempt to communicate with you. Communication is required. You can't just revert an editor and contact them off-wiki telling them not to edit the page. If you want to continue editing here, you need to show us you're willing to communicate. Hello, Sanathndk. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංඥා බලකාය".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. — pythoncoder  (talk | contribs) 12:07, 15 March 2019 (UTC) [reply]
