Good work!!

[edit]

Hi, you've been doing some great work - especially in creating new articles; I wanted to start an article on Mullapudi Harishchandra Prasad, but you beat me to it ;). I always wondered who/what Movva is, thanks to your article, now I know. I have a request to make, though - Pl. read WP:V before creating any other new articles, this wd help in increasing the quality of your contributions. I guess you'd have read WP:YFA already. Keep up the good work. --Gurubrahma 11:35, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Rekha picture

[edit]

Samhita,

I removed the Rekha picture from the article. It's probably a copyright violation (not in the public domain), it was too large, and I thought it was an extremely unflattering picture of Rekha.

I agree that it would be good to have a picture of Rekha. One thing that does seem to be OK is scanning magazine covers. I believe that if the picture isn't too big, or of too high a quality, a small, cropped version is considered fair use. (I could be wrong on this -- you might need to check further.) If you have any old film magazines lying about, especially older ones with pictures of young Rekha, that might make a good picture. If she were consulted, I think she might prefer a picture to her at the height of her beauty to a current picture -- though I could be wrong.

As for formatting pictures so that they're a better size, located where you want them to go, etc. -- just hit edit on a few articles with nice pictures and look at the formatting of the pictures. I'm not sure I've learned all the tricks, which is why I'm not giving you directions, but copying something that works, and just changing the name of the picture file, is a good way to get started. Bill.jpeg is copywrited and cannot be used

On the side of this image is url www.playwitch.net. On the front page of playwitch.net, it says:

Please do not take any of the contents of this site without the express permission of the site owner. This includes, layout/design, graphics, written material such as interviews and all characters created for this site. I've removed Bill.jpeg again from the Bill Weasley article. Again, it cannot be used on Wikipedia because it's copyrighted. I implore you to read the image use policy and the copyright policy. Thank you. --¿ WhyBeNormal ? 18:04, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding Image: Bill.jpeg to the Bill Weasley article

[edit]

Your actions are bordering on vandalism at this point. Not only is the image copyrighted and not usable on wikipedia but yoru assertions that it is somehow a standard image in the fandom is not true. Additionally when you add images to an article you should make sure that they do not disrupt the formatting of the page. In otherwords make them smaller. Have a look at (for example) Hermione Granger notice how the included images are all the same width and thereofre do not disrupt the page formatting. This is done by:

the key part there is 200px which stands for 200 pixles, even if the image you were atting was not exceptionally bad and a copyright violation failing to make it an acceptable size is going to get you revered every time. Dalf | Talk 09:27, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You should not edit and especially not remove other peoples comments on talk pages

[edit]

You should probably read some of the links that were in the welcome template above there are some good guidelines on etiquette and such. Editing (and especially removing) other peoples comments form talk pages is usually seen as vandalism. Dalf | Talk 09:37, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This message is regarding the page Talk:Hindutva. Please stop removing content from Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Dalf | Talk 09:53, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Telugu People

[edit]

You had added Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Mullapudi Harishchandra Prasad to the category, Telugu People. For adding the above to the Telugu people category, you should do this, add the following at the end of their articles,

When you do that, they will be automatically added to the category. Let me know if you have more questions. - Ganeshk (talk) 18:24, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed they are already part of the Category: Telugu people. Once again, you don't edit categories directly, you just put the category tag on the article and it gets automatically added to category. - Ganeshk (talk) 18:26, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your edits to Lord Voldemort: I've put a query at the end of the talk page regarding your edit about Voldemort being "widely considered one of the most forceful and powerful villain figures in modern children's literature". You'll need to state some notable sources on this one. Jamyskis Whisper, Contribs Germany 13:24, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your copyrighted images

[edit]

Hi Samhita, I know you're trying to contribute in a positive way, but many of your images do not have any source information and I strongly suspect most of these images are just pulled from a website. Please note that Wikipedia isn't just a web site where you can post whatever images you want. Wikipedia can get in trouble for hosting copyrighted images. Please take a careful read of Wikipedia:Copyright before you make any more image uploads. --Deathphoenix 15:54, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Moody.jpeg

[edit]
Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Moody.jpeg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. SoothingR 21:08, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you've uploaded Image:Image028.JPEG and I thought I should warn you about your mistake. You shouldn't upload images with such names, because they're hard to track and we can't really know what is it about without actually looking at it. We suggest you rename your image with an intuitive name that describes the image itself. Thanks, and good editing! howcheng {chat} 17:55, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Simba and nala.JPEG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Simba and nala.JPEG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Blue Phoenix 22:12, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Venkatraman Movva

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Venkatraman Movva, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Venkatraman Movva seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Venkatraman Movva, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Samhita! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 514 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the list:
