2. Personal Life____________________________________________________________

Abdul Basit Syed was born in Tamil Nadu, India, where he lived out his childhood years until migrating to the United Kingdom in his early teens. Inspired by his grandfather PKS Kattuwa Mohaiyadeen, an Indian Freedom fighter and leader of social activities and community services, Abdul Basit Syed is known for being a social activist worldwide and has occupied many senior positions in leading organisations in order to promote peace, education and trade harmony.


3. Roles, Responsibilities and Activities_______________________________________________

3.1. World Humanitarian Drive� World Humanitarian Drive (WHD) is an International NGO found in Croydon, U.K. in the year 2018, by a Social activist and British Entrepreneur, Writer, Abdul Basit Syed [1]. The main vision is to promote Peace, Education and Trade Harmony in this world.


3.2. Space Kidz India

Abdul Basit Syed is the Vice President of "Space Kidz India" [8] an organization for creating "young scientists" for the Nation and spreading awareness among children for a borderless world. It creates International experiential learning for students in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Culture. Well known for creating the world’s lightest satellite KalamSAT (weighing just 64 grams) and KalamSAT-2, both of which were launched into space by NASA and ISRO respectively. The only organisation to be given the opportunity to represent India at the "London Olympics, 2012" [8].


3.3. Faiths Together in Croydon

Abdul Basit Syed is a strong believer in creating a sense of faith and love within the community. He is an active committee member of ‘Faiths Together in Croydon’ in which he promotes and enables each faith across the community to have a voice.

3.4. Universal Peace Federation (UK)

Universal Peace Federation (UK) or the UPF' UK for short was help in Croydon Town Hall and was hosted by the Worshipful Mayor of Croydon Humayun Kabir [22] who appointed and honoured WHD Founder Abdul Basit Syed, as International Ambassador for Croydon, U.K.


4. Awards and honours___________________________________________________________ Over the years, Abdul Basit Syed has been recognised and honoured for the outstanding work that he has partaken in and achieved world wide.

▪ “International Ambassador” of Croydon Mayor Appointed [3] ▪ “Mahatma Gandhi Award” by NRI Welfare Society [21] ▪ “Knight of Malta” by The Sovereign Order of OSJ, Malta [22] ▪ “Ambassador for Peace” Awarded by Universal Peace Federation [4] and has been confirmed as the Board of Directors. [10] ▪ ‘‘Award of Excellence’’ United Nations Office on Drugs and crime (UNODC) and Saudi Government. [23] ▪ “Peace Award” BRICS International Alliance. [24]


5. Global Initiatives_____________________________________________

At present, the World Humanitarian Drive has dedicated its attention to fulfilling it’s vision of global peace, education and trade harmony, these have been done through a range of initiatives headed by Abdul Basit Syed


5.1. Trade for Peace: Trilateral Global Summit:

The inaugural Trilateral Global Summit convened by World Humanitarian Drive (WHD) was held on 19th and 20th June 2019 in London with participants from over 25 countries including Bank CEO, Policy Makers, Journalist, Corporate Heads, Business Leaders, Politicians from UK, Portugal, Morocco, Bahrain, India, notable keynote addresses from H.E.Angelina Teny Defence Minister South Sudan [27], CEO of Doha Bank Dr Raghavan Seetharaman[20], Dr James Lee former Managing Director of World Bank Group, number of notable figures echoed the sentiments of the summit of enhancing “Trade for Peace. The summit session where held in UPF’ HQ, U.K, Croydon Town Hall [21] hosted by the Worshipful Mayor of Croydon Humayun Kabir [22] who appointed and honoured WHD Founder Abdul Basit Syed, as International Ambassador for Croydon, U.K. The Trilateral Global Summit focused on promoting integration of global economy and businesses as a pathway for peace. A number of other influential figures addressed the summit includes Humphrey Hawksley Former BBC Foreign Correspondent, Hon. Abdel Majid Fassi Fihri M.P. Morocco, Hon. Angela Guerra M.P. Portugal [23], Hon.Sandra Pereira M.P. Portugal,. At different times in the conference number of awards were presented to eminent personalities these included, Dr Raghavan Seetharaman CEO Doha Bank Qatar, Mrs Maria Victoria M Acosta, Senior Vice President of Megaworld International Corporation from Philippines, Hon. Ali AlDerazi[24] Former M.P. and Fundament SPC Director, Bahrain. It is Intended that The Trilateral Global Summit will reconvene in June 2020.


4.2.World Moral Day

Abdul Basit Syed initiated the “World Moral Day” campaign through “World Humanitarian Drive (WHD)” by organising a meet with students event of a large scale, named “Passport 2 Future” [17] at Panimalar Engineering College, Chennai, India. This campaign is to emphasize the significant need to practice morality in the minds of every individual in this world, by connecting leaders and U.N Envoys of various Countries to lobby their support in favour of making a petition for the United Nations to declare a day in a year as "World Moral Day".


4.3. The Science Bazaar

Abdul Basit Syed believes that both Science & Technology are effective triggers to transform the world into a beautiful paradise where humanity will thrive with love, peace and happiness. These thoughts are the soul concept of his initiative run through WHD; “The Science Bazaar.” [19] The theme “Equally Abled” gave all an equal opportunity to create new inventions for the betterment of society. “The Science Bazaar [15]” was held at the Panimalar Engineering college, Chennai, India, on 06th & 7th March 2020. The Science Bazaar was inaugurated by the Director of Russian Center of Science & Culture, Mr. Gennadii Rogalev[16]. The event dignitaries include Dr M Arumugam, Founder of Broadline Group of Companies [17] and Mr C Sakthikumar, Director of Panimalar Engineering College. Best projects from the Science Bazaar were honoured by the Chief Guests Mr Mike Muralidharan- CEO Bahwan CyberTek [18] & Prof Dr Sultan Ismail- Research Director MGR Janaki College [19]. Media reports confirms more than 800 new innovations, models, projects, posters and ideas was displayed at the “Science Bazaar”.


4.4. Honouring The Honourable

In order to inspire, recognise and appreciate those unsung heroes throughout both the public and private sector, including diplomats, Politicians, Entrepreneurs, CEO’s, Social Workers, NGO’s and Educationist, Abdul Basit Syed set up a noble initiative though WHD called “Honouring the Honourable”. He takes pride in honouring all those selfless contributors with Global Awards as a mark of international recognition for their services to this world. [20]

The first edition of prestigious “Regal British Awards” took place along with Trilateral Global Summit [25] at the House of Lords, Westminster, U.K. The RBA Awards was presented by WHD Patron, Rt.Hon Chris Philp M.P. and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Immigration Compliance and Courts U.K. The award recognized efforts in advancing sustainability, business strategy, human development, continuing education and knowledge sharing. Delegates from 33 countries had showed their presence during award function.

4.3. ‘Re-Engineering Happiness’ Book

With experience of assessing the social consequences of behaviour, Abdul Basit Syed launched his 1st edition book “Re engineering Happiness”[18]. It gives a rare insight into principles of human life and nature combined with morality and written in the simplest form. The book is filled with thoughts, arts and poems and promotes the beauty of life and happiness from understanding the moral judgments people make to covering contemporary issues, global warming and corruption due to immorality of mind. Abdul Basit Syed believes that the book will serve as an ideal introduction for his initiative “World Moral Day”.
