With the tournament starting properly tommorow I thought I'd just say hi to you. I hope we can work together in the ICC Champions Trophy articles, and make them look really fantastic. As i am fairly new, i would appreciate if you could help me out if i am wrong at any time.

World Cricket League

Just a thought on the WCL pages. As it is intended that this becomes a regular tournament, shouldn't we have a page for each Division in general, and then a page for each individual tournament, ie. ICC World Cricket League Division One AND 2007 ICC World Cricket League Division One as there will (assuming the ICC don't change their mind) be a 2011 ICC World Cricket League Division One. Heggedal and Franz Josef Weern

Hi, I noticed your mention of the previous problems you had with Heggedal on your page and when looking in to it, I came across some other potential problems. Specifically Franz Josef Weern is listed as potentially a fictitious person. However the Norwegian wiki article no:Heggedal still lists him (although as a composer not a politician). It looks like people have been taking care of it, perhaps even you under a different name so perhaps he did exist just not doing what had been claimed but I thought you'd like to know. Also I don't know if you can understand Swedish but there is also an article on sv:Franz Josef Weern there. Taking the Chris

I've dealt with it, Sam. Thank you for alerting me of my (extremely old) mistake. This, I believe, was back in the days before I discovered proper club-by-club categorization, and might well have been a mistake I made back then. There really should be a new policy page, don't edit Wikipedia on December 8. I swear it does things to you..

For the record, so that you don't have to look for it, I've altered Chris Taylor (cricketer) to now redirect to Christopher Taylor, (Christopher Taylor (cricketer)) and merged the improvements in. I'd generally swear by Cricket Archive (heck, it saved my butt when it came to Andries Burger), to make life a lot easier. Bobo. 02:38, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

I've also just noticed, there is no article for Derbyshire's 2006 debutant Chris Taylor, which considering the amount that I've focussed attention on Derbyshire's players over the past month or so, is a shocking omission. Thanks, I was working like this on the nl.wiki first, but I was about the only person really working on current sports related articles over there and couldn't keep it up. Here much more people join in to make sure we do not have to include these results with hardly any sources in the future. I do not know whether you have seen User:SportsAddicted/Sportsnews yet, but I'd like to launch that in the wiki namespace around January 2007. Adding events to the calendar and hiding them until one week prior to the start of the event and keeping them visible for one week after the event before archiving them in monthly sports calendars from the past. Jumping after Wirkola

Hi Sam, you commented <<(I'll readily admit it's not a very good one)>> about your categorisation attempt for this one, but I do think <<Category:Sport in Norway>> is a quite adequate start. I bumped into List of idioms in the Finnish language the other day, and was quite impressed, over both the wikipedia work behind it and by the creative idioms of the Finnish tongue. So somebody ought to start a similar list of Norwegian idioms, complete with explanations in English ... But then again, the JaW expression belongs to an even tinier (but rather interesting) subset category, namely those Norwegian common parlance expressions that just manage to creep across its national borders and into neighbouring languages. There are words that manage such a migration (viking, ski, ombudsman, troll, quisling, adelskalender, slalom, plus a host of less known instances of English words that originate from Old Norse), but there would not be many idioms, I suppose? OK, I'm definitely mistaken, a cricinfo article I read when he debuted in Mohali seemed to imply that he had returned to Gujarat, as well as the cricinfo profile, but on checking the Ranji stats again, he is listed under Maharashtra. 2006/07 Ski jumping World Cup

The pink background is only there because white doesn't compliment all the worlds flags, and the color isn't that noticeable on most screens. I had thought about making a season table, but I wasn't sure how many jumpers to include. I see you have take the top 15 from Kuusamo, but most of them (probably) won't be amongst the top 15 at the end of the season. We can risk having 50-60 jumpers with World Cup points after the events in Planica.

I don't know what more info the tables need. It shows the top 5 jumpers w/lenghts and points, overall WC points, overall NT/FHT points, and the rank of the WC/NT/FHT leader at the time of the competition. In addition I've included notes of important "happenings".

In the - vs. / case I see your point. Most Wiki pages writes two years seasons with a -, witch I've never seen anywhere before (it's Premier League 2006/07, not Premier League 2006-07). The problem isn't bigger than that we can make a 2006-07 redirect page.

Thanks for clarifying that up. A pity though that this sport is going down that much in a big speed skating nation as Norway used to be and in potential still is. I definately do hope your country will come back to the elite some day. It looked good prior to the 2006 Olympics, but when I hear stories like this, with only 200 people showing up that makes me sad. You're doing a great job with this article, but may I enquire where the middle initial "F" that you've inserted in Wilfred Rhodes name comes from? I've never previously seen it suggested that he had a middle name. It's not included in his Wiki article, nor in his CricketArchive or Cricinfo entries. You might find some useful info here. Matches 99 and 100 are the 5th and 4th Tests respecively in the 1902 series. Cardus's article on the Fourth Test, which he watched as a boy, is famous, and I was looking for a complete transcript of it online, but without success. JH 22:06, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

JohnnyBriggs

The reason I included the other pioneer wicket takers was to set the career of Johnny Briggs in a context. He is a very obscure figure. Of the players who have reached those milestones he is the most obscure. There is no point in deleting this information while retaining other irrelevant facts. In fact this aspect should be expanded - there is no point in stating he was the first to 100 wickets without explaining what that means.

I disagree enormously when you say the names will mean nothing to non cricket fans. In the UK, Australia etc, the cricket playing world, most people have heard of Fred Truman for example and the context of being the first to 100,200 ,300 etc was the one I believed to be most interesting; the group of cricketers- particularly in the light of Shane Warne's achievements. I would appreciate you using the talk page in future or at least adding to a page rather than merely deleting from it. Nice link though.

Relational quation

I have a couple of questions regarding possible relationships at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2007. The first is are Anders Jacobsen (ski jumper) and Astrid Jacobsen brother and sister? Likewise, are Hannu Manninen and Pirjo Manninen. I ask this because if it is true for the Manninens, then it will be historic with the first brother-sister combination to win gold at the same championships. Please advise. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2007, part 3

Looking at the article so far, I say we did a good job. Do you think this article has the potential of being a GA nominee given the references we have on this file so far? I agree on the split up into the different disciplines in order to reduce the space. I did find the attendance to be appalling to say the least from the information on the website though Ito did state that skiing is not real popular in Asia as mentioned in the sources I have. As far as the comments from the Norwegian papers, I can deal with the cleanup on making it more readable in English. I have done that before with Lars Bystøl last year if you compare the edits I did on that. As far as Nordic skiing information for the summer and breaking it down, I was planning doing a project of my own regarding bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton, including the tracks, championships (European and World), and the athletes involved in that which is pretty pathetic if you ask me. I was hoping to get started on that after the Holmenkollen ski festival in the next two weeks. My guess for the Holmenkollen medal are probably Hannu Manninen, Marit Bjørgen, Simon Ammann, and Virpi Kuitunen, but we will see on the 18th. Chris 23:25, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

World Cup Groups

If seeds 5-8 weren't placed though a draw, how were they placed? There doesn't seem to be a logical reason for their positioning otherwise (or were India and West Indies simply swapped for logistical reasons?) --Dave. 23:41, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I disagree with your inference, although I agree with what you say the reasons for the allocations were.

It says "if a draw was made using the rankings". That doesn't imply no draw was made at all, more that it was a random draw with the caveat that the four nominated teams had to be kept apart.

However, looking at the Press release, it does appear that there wasn't a draw, as you quite rightly point out.
