Your contributed article, House of Haas
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, House of Haas. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – House of Habsburg. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at House of Habsburg – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. McGeddon (talk) 10:05, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Hello, Sam.beckhorn. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Princess Sophia Haas, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Princess Sophia Haas to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.
If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

- Hello - when you are filling out the article, please make sure to format the article as other biographies are formatted. We need sources to verify details about her, and it's generally not appropriate to discuss people's private interests in an article. Rather, it's best to focus on actual achievements and what makes her notable, if anything. LouiseS1979 (pigeonhole) 07:27, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Sam. These sources aren't much good, however. The BBC link leads to a search page on 'Royalty', which will change depending on what stories are added, so you might want to fix that. The Wikimapia source is just a map - it has nothing to do with Sophia of Haas, so it can't source her location (you would need an article from a good newspaper about her and where she lives). Also, sources with 'wiki' in the title are usually user-generated, which means they are not good fits for the reliable source criteria. The Forbes source doesn't seem to mention Sophia herself, and in any event is just a list of rich people, rather than actual discussion of Sophia herself.
- On this basis, I can't remove the deletion request. We need sources about Sophia herself in enough detail to justify having an article on her. Before you continue to add stuff, I need you to read the article on Reliable Sources very thoroughly before you add to the article. Make sure Sophia is significant enough to be added; the House of Haas article you wrote was deleted. You may want to get some advice from either the Teahouse or the Reliable source noticeboard as to whether a source is a good one, proves notability and verifies the individual properly. Also, I'm going to delete the personal information; she is not notable for being a sportswoman or a musician, so that shouldn't really be in the article.
- I'm sorry this is disappointing. Next time you write an article, it might be a good idea to use your sandbox to draft the article, including adding proper sources, and submit it to Articles for Creation. LouiseS1979 (pigeonhole) 07:28, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

- Hi, Sam. Basically this article has the same problems as the Sophia Haas one. You need really good sources to add someone's biography to Wikipedia. They need to be notable, the article needs rock-solid sources, you must not include personal details such as their Instragram profile or username, and the article needs to focus on what makes them notable. I've prodded both Sophia and Mathias' article because a quick google does not bring up any significant sources online - the Royalista blog is not a good source, essentially being a gossip site, which isn't a reliable source in Wikipedia's terms. If you're interested in this subject area, it might be worth reading the list of links thoroughly before you draft another article, because people reviewing new articles are very strict in what they let through.
- I'm sorry to dampen your enthusiasm - it is not my intention to show hostility to new contributors; quite the opposite. However, it is a good idea before you create articles to read up on what the rules are, because otherwise your articles just will not survive their first few hours.
