[edit]You're using the talk feature just fine. I agree with your deletion. Remember to sign your comments with four tildes: ~ Czolgolz (talk) 00:02, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
[copied from my talk page:] I don't understand your problem with the source: it's an essay first published in the Midwest Quarterly, which is a respectable academic journal, and then republished in Bloom's anthology of essays on the novel, an anthology which is far from being a "children's book." There is no need to impugn Winsboro himself. The source is fine. --jbmurray (talk • contribs) 07:08, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Death of Joe Pullen
[edit]Hi Salahaldin. I noticed your Joe Pullen article was rejected again. Per your comments there I'll be taking a look and hopefully providing some more specific feedback. Lesser Cartographies (talk) 12:51, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Continuing to resubmit the article isn't going to get it accepted. I've left additional comments at the article. Lesser Cartographies (talk) 13:20, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- howdy - thanks; I didn't realize I'd ever re-submitted it! Perhaps it was re-submitted automatically (?) -- at any rate, I haven't thought about that entry in about 3-4 years; but if I decide to resurrect it, I'll use some good sources (of which there aren't many, but there's an important/well-respected book from about 2018 that discussed Pullen and his death). A couple of notes on collaborating
[edit]Hi Salahaldin,
Good to see you've back at Joe Pullen. A couple more notes:
- If you're writing something directed to another editor, be sure to put four tildes at the end. The system converts this to a signature+timestamp that's normalized to universal coordinated time. This allows other editors to see who said what when.
- If you're responding to another editor, don't respond inline. Rather, put your response after their remarks. (USENET and email have different conventions, but here people are trained to scroll to the bottom and if they don't see anything there, they assume you haven't responded yet.)
- If all of the occasionally pompous people were kicked off of wikipedia we'd have to shutter the joint. No worries. That said, there's a strong convention against removing your own remarks, esp. when someone has replied to them. It's no big deal here (and there's no need to restore the text you deleted), but in the future just go back and put the <s> ... </s> tags around the text you want to strike,
like this. You'll be understood as disavowing that text but other editors can still get a sense of the surrounding conversation.
See what you can do with the notes I've taken. It's too bad some of the best stuff is self-published, but them's the breaks.
Best,

- I hope we didn't run you off. Feel free to jump in and add or rewrite as the spirit moves you. I don't think we can get this particular article up to featured status, but "good" status won't be much of a stretch. In your draft you had mentioned Pullen was a WWI vet. Do you have a good cite for that? I don't recall seeing it anywhere (except maybe the self-published book?) but it's quite possible I overlooked it. Lesser Cartographies (talk) 20:45, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
Since you started the article, could you look at it now and see if it needs improvements (I'm sure it does). Thanks. LionMans Account (talk) 02:06, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
