Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Ahmednagar railway station, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 06:41, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The changes made in this article was from an authentic source. It was an official reply from ministry of railways...

The changes made in this article was from an authentic source. It was an official reply from ministry of railways... please explain how to add a news article as a source? Sachinn77 (talk) 07:10, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The changes made in Ahmednagar railway station wiki page from an authentic source document. The source document is an official reply from ministry of Railways to a public grievance raised by me on Centralised public Grievance redressal platform viz CPGRAMS. The grievance number is MORLY/E/2021/09886. It is a PDF file. And how to link this pdf file source to the content is not explained. This is not a link of news article. It is official reply from Govt of India ministry in the form of pdf document which can also be verifiable at your level Sachinn77 (talk) 08:40, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also how to upload pdf document to source is not explained Sachinn77 (talk) 08:41, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Government documents are not acceptable as a source, they are considered primary sources. We need a secondary, independent reliable source. The sources themselves should not be uploaded; they only need to be cited- see Referencing for beginners. 331dot (talk) 08:43, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Government documents are the most authentic platform and this govt reply is on centralised public grievance platform. Hence its authencity cannot be questioned. It has a unique grievance number MORLY/E/2021/09886. Had there been a provision of uploading pdf document I would have up uploaded it. Ideally there should be b a provision to upload pdf document as a source.

Also kindky explain process of adding a news article as a source to the content as I also want to add a news article to the source which related to change of railway devision of ahmednagar railway station Sachinn77 (talk) 08:53, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

First thing this is not a government document. It is now a public document. As the information regardimg kalyan Ahmednagar railway was made public by ministry of Railways on a public grievance platform which is aimed to address public complaints. As the information is revealed in public domain hence it is a public document. And public document can be added as a source Sachinn77 (talk) 09:12, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever you call it, it is not acceptable. The goal of Wikipedia is to summarize what independent reliable sources say, not what government or public documents say. 331dot (talk) 09:17, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia does not host source documents itself. WikiSource does. 331dot (talk) 09:19, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You can provide a link to upload pdf file of public document. It will become reliable. If anybody has doubt regarding authenticity of document then he can check autgeticity from respective department as unique grievance number will be linked to the document. It is quite surprising that an autgentic lublic document is not considered as reluable source Sachinn77 (talk) 09:22, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's not how Wikipedia works; I think using the new user tutorial and reading The Five Pillars will help you. 331dot (talk) 09:25, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
