[edit]Hello, I'm Theroadislong. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Thames Torso Murders have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 09:59, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello I write non fiction and my books are based on research from primary sources. My book on the Thames Torso Murders contains a new prime suspect based on that research. There was also a contemporaneous suspect whom I entered. The Thames Torso Murders page without my edits is out of date as it does not reference suspects in that case, it only links to Jack the Ripper suspects. My edits corrected those anomalies and quoted my book. So now you have removed my edits that page remains outdated and unhelpful to readers wanting to understand the case.
- Thoughts? SCC68 (talk) 12:52, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- That is fine, Wikipedia doesn't mind being out of date, if others unconnected with you report on your book in reliable sources it might be possible to mention it, but otherwise you are just promoting yourself here. Theroadislong (talk) 13:22, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- I’m sorry but I disagree. The suspects entry needs to be entered in its own right with a list of suspects. It is unreasonable to delete all of my edits because I am an author. SCC68 (talk) 13:25, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- You are free to disagree, but I doubt you will much support here for the addition of content sourced to your own book. AS you have a clear conflict of interest you can request edits on the talk page of the article, using the template {{edit COI}} 16:29, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
