Windom

Hey Ryan, how are things going on the Windom page? Need any help with things? - NeutralhomerTalk06:58, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Hey Neutralhomer! I'm still intending to work on improvements; however, I'm caught up in some other issues right now. This will probably be a long term project for me. Feel free to assist in any way you like. Ryan Vesey 14:09, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
Sorry for the slow reply, I actually forgot I posted here. :) Anywho...let me know where you need the most help and I will be glad to help. I don't want to "take over" since it is your project. :) - NeutralhomerTalk11:01, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
I'll try to take a look at it sometime this week and see where I could use some help. If you see this note, and you care to update the population statistics in the body of the article that would be great. On another note, have you seen the demographics age distribution table? Are you interested in me making one for the Stephens City, Virginia page? - — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryan Vesey (talkcontribs)
Let me ask someone about the age distribution table for the Stephens City article. I think it would be a good addition, but I worry it being perceived as decoration. I will work on the population stats sometime overnight or tomorrow. Need to gather up all the US Census Bureau stats. :) - NeutralhomerTalk04:57, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
  • Hey Ryan, sleep happened twice today (catching up on all the sleep I have missed lately), I took a look at the information for Windom and there isn't any. For whatever reason, the 2012 Demographic stats haven't been released for Windom. They do release things on a state-by-state basis (they just got around to Virginia) so it might be a little longer before they release things for Minnesota. Sorry. :( - NeutralhomerTalk07:04, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Ryan, you changed your vote. I'm wondering what you think the nom would do different next time facing same circumstance. Ihardlythinkso (talk) 16:29, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

I'll be honest and say there are still some things that concern me about the editor. For example, he doesn't seem to have a full grasp of indentation. That said, my main concern was the unsourced information revert. That isn't something that takes a lot to change, all that is needed is a realization. In this case, the realization came with this comment "In hind sight I can see the negative effect my revert had on the article, and probably on the editor also. I see that I should of looked some references for the post before jumping to that wrong conclusion, and saved some undue problems on the article, editor and many involved editors in this Request. I will change my approach to these type of patrolling edits as I now see it's better all around to try and help verify than to just remove it. thanx." Ryan Vesey 22:36, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I saw that too. But do you really think doing that kind of RS research work each time (the effort & time required) fits to the temperament of this particular nom? I don't. So is it a realistic plan forward to correct the deficiency? (What's not realistic, over time, generally won't work.) Thanks for consider. Ihardlythinkso (talk) 02:50, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
I doubt that he will actually search for sources for things every time in the future; however, I do believe that he'll be willing to add a citation needed tag and inform the editor in question going forward. Ryan Vesey 03:08, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

New Pages newsletter

Hey all :)

A couple of new things.

First, you'll note that all the project titles have now changed to the Page Curation prefix, rather than having the New Pages Feed prefix. This is because the overarching project name has changed to Page Curation; the feed is still known as New Pages Feed, and the Curation Toolbar is still the Curation Toolbar. Hopefully this will be the last namechange ;p.

On the subject of the Curation Toolbar (nice segue, Oliver!) - it's now deployed on Wikipedia. Just open up any article in the New Pages Feed and it should appear on the right.

It's still a beta version - bugs are expected - and we've got a lot more work to do. But if you see something going wrong, or a feature missing, drop me a note or post on the project talkpage and I'll be happy to help :). Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 00:07, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

An invitation for you!

Hello, Ryan Vesey. We are in the early stages of initiating a project to plan, gain consensus on, and coordinate adding a feature to the main page wherein an article will be listed daily for collaborative improvement. If you're interested in participating, please add your name to the list of members.

We are still trying to get the project going. Perhaps you can be of help to us. Happy editing! AutomaticStrikeout 02:57, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Link please? Ryan Vesey 03:09, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Err, found it. I suggest you link the entire sentece. In addition, you should substitute basepagename. Ryan Vesey 03:10, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Perhaps you can help with that. I am terrible with that kind of thing (the basepagename part anyway). AutomaticStrikeout 03:19, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

No offense.

On User talk:Belchfire, you wrote, "No offense meant to Still, I believe it could have been written better..."

No offense taken; I didn't write it in the first place. I just found better citations and therefore restored it. Even if I had written it, I would have to agree that there's room for improvement, so I don't oppose constructive edits to make the language a bit cleaner. Not sure what Link Spam is....but I'm willing to learn. ```Buster Seven Talk 14:46, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
I was joking about how new websites will often try to spam links to their website on different pages on Wikipedia. In this case, the essay should be linked from a reasonable number of other essays. Ryan Vesey 14:50, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Re: Wikify

Thanks for the heads up. That's actually a very interesting proposal, but I won't comment there as I have no strong opinion on the specific proposal. What I do feel though is that it's a bit cosmetic, as right now even in drive months we get as many new articles that need wikification as we can wikify.

Therefore I believe that we need to focus our energy on approaching the whole class of such articles—determining what's common to most/all of them, adding more internal links to these articles so they are noticed and naturally handled by more editors, engaging editors who write low quality articles in good faith and try to get them to write better articles, deleting really bad articles, etc. Not sure it would work any better though. Hopefully new tools for patrolling new articles are deployed soon to make it easier for patrollers to weed out the really bad articles from the start.

Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 13:47, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply. This is meant to be cosmetic. We already engage in these tasks, we are just hoping to expand to those areas that we should be improving but aren't because they are not tagged with {{Wikify}}. In addition, the Wikify template is misunderstood to the point that it is a good idea to change its purpose. Ryan Vesey 13:58, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Wikify

Why are you adding categories related to WikiProject Wikify to all kinds of templates and category pages that have nothing to do with Wikifying? Debresser (talk) 14:38, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Can you be more clear on which templates you believe have nothing to do with Wikifying? Please see discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wikify#No more wikify templateRyan Vesey 14:41, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
I see no mention there of any templates apart from {Tl|Dead end}}, nor do I see anybody else pushing this apart from you. You suggested the idea, you created the category yourself, now you start populating it. In short, please show some projectwide consensus that you are doing something sueful that has to involve so many templates and categories. Until you do so, please refrain from adding more templates and categories. By the way, you do not have to post on my talkpage, since I have your talkpage watched. Debresser (talk) 18:07, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
It is completely a maintenance category and is hidden. There was no opposition to any of my actions and none of it extends the process of Wikification. The proposal was put forward by other editors in the past, but formalized by myself. Ryan Vesey 18:16, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Can I also ask you to point out at least one template that is now incorrectly adding articles to Category:Articles covered by WikiProject Wikify and how tagging that template does not coincide with Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify/Drives/InstructionsRyan Vesey 18:35, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
The problem is with your decision to add some categories to the list of articles that need to be wikified. This was not discussed anywhere apart from of the wikify project, and it is not part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify/Drives/Instructions. Debresser (talk) 20:23, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
I have undone your addition of Category:Articles covered by WikiProject Wikify until you open a project wide discussion, and get consensus. Your idea is too global to be implemented after a discussion on the project wikify page only. Not to mention, that I see a lot of pushing by you, both there and on the Tfd discussion, and that is reason for additional caution imho. Debresser (talk) 20:27, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
I actually didn't add any articles to that list, I created an entirely new category. The members of WikiProject Wikify are the ones who clean up those backlogs so we don't need external approval to increase our workload. You have failed to point out a single template that I tagged incorrectly. Do you not disagree with them or do you just have problems with the whole thing? I can't explain this to you unless you give me concrete examples of what has been done wrong. Ryan Vesey 20:28, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Let's continue this discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wikify#Categorization. Debresser (talk) 20:31, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
I have raised discussion of your unilateral reverts at ANI. Ryan Vesey 20:42, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I noticed. Thank you for doing me the courtesy of posting a note on my talkpage. I have replied there, while at the same time continuing the discussion on the WikiProject Wikify talkpage. Debresser (talk) 22:53, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

I took your name in vain and vane.

I mentioned your efforts of reorganizing Wikify at Wikipedia talk:Page Curation#Suggestion: a few more tags. Not sure if you want to weigh in on the how/what/where of the wikify tag on the new curation toolbar. Bgwhite (talk) 22:38, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll be sure to comment there. Recent disruption might make all of this moot though. Ryan Vesey 23:40, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Try to keep calm. We have talk pages to solve conflicts. -- Magioladitis (talk) 00:04, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Since Belchfire rudely deleted this before you could read it.

The crux of my disagreement with you is over your statements about liberal bias[1], which led me to conclude that you are not aware of your own conservative bias. I am concerned that this would make you a biased administrator, which is why I oppose such a position for you. Still-24-45-42-125 (talk) 02:02, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

I am fully aware of my conservative bias. As a result I've stayed away from both religious and political subjects for the most part. Ryan Vesey 03:31, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Thank you, I'll take that under consideration. Still-24-45-42-125 (talk) 03:33, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
If you don't mind my making this point, I'd imagine that almost everyone has a bias of some sort and to some degree, including the current admins. AutomaticStrikeout 17:00, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
I don't mind and I don't even disagree. I have my own biases and I do my best to recognize them so that they don't get in the way. My concern with Ryan is that, at least in the part I quoted, he seemed oblivious to his biases. Now he's saying that he's well aware of them, and I'd prefer to believe him. It's always nice to meet people I've never seen before working in antivandalism. However, please take care with reports and make sure that they have been sufficiently warned before making AIV reports as in this[2] situation. It's always preferable to resolve conflicts through discussion (which is what happened in this case) rather than a block. Thank you and hope to see you around more. Trusilver 17:45, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

I wish Twinkle had an edit warring noticeboard section. In essence, I wanted to get admin eyes on the situation. On another note, there's no requirement that someone receives 4 warnings before an AIV report, but it wasn't really the proper place anyways. Ryan Vesey 17:51, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, but there IS a requirement that the editor is sufficiently warned. That traditionally involves a level 4 warning before a block. Obviously that's not going to be used in every situation... and I have blocked more than my fair share of IP addresses in the past with no warning whatsoever when it's obvious that they are simply jumping IPs to evade a block. In most situations, however, we follow the standard four warning pattern. Have you ever considered trying out Huggle? I used Twinkle for years and resisted any attempt at change, but I found that it is much more efficient. Trusilver 17:54, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
I use huggle all the time, just not recently, that's where most of my AIV reports have come from. 3 warnings for the same edit was easily enough for him to know to stop editing. That's all that is required. The 4 warning line is generally more applicable when it is a series of warnings at different times during the month. Happily, he resolved it by taking to the talk page. Ryan Vesey 18:00, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Rollback?

Hi. :) Sorry for being all non-techy and everything, but I can't quite follow this. You saw something in an edit summary and it accidentally rolled back tons of edits? Do you mean you were looking at the history of an article or at recent changes and clicked on something there because you didn't realize it was an action? --Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk) 21:54, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

I was on someone's user page history (I really don't know why) and there was an edit without a summary. I was unaware of the new rollback change and at quick glance it looked like their edit summary was "rollback more than 10 edits". I clicked that thinking it was a wikilink in their edit summary. Ryan Vesey 21:57, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

The life of the Teahouse

Hi Ryan! I just wanted to clarify a little regarding your comment in the discussion about HostBot. "Aside from this trial, doesn't the Teahouse have an expected shutoff date for research analysis to be done? If that is the case, could the bot continue to run through that date." I wasn't sure if you were referring to the bot trial or to the Teahouse. If you do mean the Teahouse, happily the trial is over! The report was (very) good, people are enthusiastic about the Teahouse and it is here to stay for the foreseeable future. I also suspect that research will be happening for a long time, too. Hi Ryan, I'm pretty sure a photo of the real car wouldn't be a derivative work. The definition is "an expressive creation that includes major, copyright-protected elements of an original, previously created first work". The car is just a standard Beetle with a couple of pieces of metal nailed to it and the Pokemon logo on it. If the car actually looked like Pikachu (or the Beetle itself was a copyrightable work) then you'd be correct. Apart from that, I'm pretty sure a non-free image can't be justified simply to illustrate an advertising campaign. Black Kite (talk) 16:37, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

The main concern is the Pokemon logo. I raised a similar issue at commons of buses with hello kitty on them. I'm assuming the determination there will be relevant. You can see it at Commons:Com:Village pump/Copyright#Hello Kitty busesRyan Vesey 16:41, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I think this may be a grey area - for example, how about the logo(s) on File:390044 pulled by 57316 at Chester Station.jpg? Black Kite (talk) 16:55, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
I would call those de minimis. In the case of the Pikachu car, I would find the Pokemon log to be a large and important part of it. Consider Commons:Com:De minimis#An example. I would consider the Pikachu car to have a logo that is not trivial. The train would contain a logo that is trivial. Ryan Vesey 17:00, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
OK, not the best example, but it got me thinking - we must have hundreds of images where the a logo is a major part of it ... Black Kite (talk) 17:14, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Ryan, is it O.K. to do it this way? Or I should rename it to Template:Navbox Peucaea? Will be glad for any advise!--Mishae (talk) 01:36, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

It appears fine for it to be like that. Ryan Vesey 02:05, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, than can you please do the same thing for the rest of my articles? I'm having trouble doing it on my own. Use "References" devider, don't bother with the taxobox please. Or, better yet, can you show me how to change them from "Template:Navbox" to "Template:"? Whould be glad for any advise!--Mishae (talk) 02:25, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Is there any reason you'd like them to be changed? What do you mean "can I please do the same thing for the rest of your articles"? Ryan Vesey 03:36, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Space wise, but I don't know how sufficient it is. Its just makes me feel bad that I didn't knew anything about it earlier.

"can I please do the same thing for the rest of your articles"? - The answer is provided above, I answered on both of them with one answer.--Mishae (talk) 04:04, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

It is really a very minor issue with space, in fact, moving all of the templates would cause more of a drain on our servers rather than less. I don't see any reason to move them. Ryan Vesey 04:22, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Some articles I will update, so I will do it either way. Like adding more info about Conops genus, etc.--Mishae (talk) 20:00, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for pointing that out. It was my first time asking questions for an RfA; shall I just redact them? --~ScholarlyBreeze~ 21:33, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

That would probably be best, thank you. I rarely ask questions myself, they really shouldn't be asked except where they can easily evaluate a candidate's ability to become an administrator. To properly do that, situational questions are usually needed. Problems with NewPages Feed

Hi Ryan. One of the problems with the new NewPagesFeed is that it does not make proper edit summaries, so any page you simply tag for maintenance instead of for deletion (see:Westhill Bowling Club, a clear case for A7) will be regarded as patrolled, nveer be noticed again, and will never get deleted. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:41, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

In that particular case, I knew little about the subject, but decided to leave the editor a note on how I didn't feel it met the requirements. Since I don't know enough about bowling clubs, I avoided tagging it for deletion outright because I was unaware of what sorts of clubs would be considered notable. I have the page watched. Ryan Vesey 14:46, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
Hello! I am Miha from Croatia. I made article Paumakua of Maui and you put some templates in it, but I do not understand very well what to do with the article. I did not understood how to make article in prose. Can you help me with this issue? And thank you for noticing. By!--Miha (talk) 16:27, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I understand now. It is so nice from you that you explain me this. You are a nice man. I will put his mother with his father, yes. Indeed, I used reliable sources - book written by Abraham Fornander and one from another Hawaiian historian.--Miha (talk) 16:36, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Suawala, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page IST (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Spider

I read this last night about the newly discovered spider. Remind me to never visit Oregon and I won't have a nightmare free slumber for sometime. My wife can confirm that run away screaming like a little girl at the very sight of a spider or my mother-in-law. Bgwhite (talk) 22:27, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Can you have a look at this?

Hi Ryan,

You and I chatted a while ago during your RfA and I'm reaching out to you to ask that you have a look at this AfD and if you're comfortable, offering an opinion. I am not trying to persuade you to !vote in accordance with me, I'm asking you to follow your conscience. I just happen to find you reasonable and your opinion would be helpful. I'm thinking it's going to go to "no consensus" again because neither the original nominator nor any of the others who offered their !vote have returned since the article's been renovated significantly. Regardless of whether you have a look or !vote, thanks for all you do around here. Best regards. Vertium When all is said and done 17:30, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Hey Vertium, as you can see from my newly placed Wikibreak, I'm a bit stressed and don't have the energy to wade through the AfD right now, sorry. If it gets relisted again and I feel more motivated later this week I'll try to take a look. Ryan Vesey 04:54, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
No worries. I know you're getting back to school. All the best. Vertium When all is said and done 12:43, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Hello

Hello Ryan, you are my Wiki-uncle! Adam is my Wiki dad and Worm is my Wiki grandpa! :D If you want user boxes, give me a shout, I make many of them :D Also, would you or Worm be interested in adopting a friend of mine who just join Wikipedia as I'm not sure whether I'm qualified to adopt yet. This is her page: [3] -- RexRowan  Talk  20:06, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I'll send her a note soon and thanks for the message! Ryan Vesey 21:05, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Hey Rex, I've overextended myself and don't feel like I have the time and energy to take on another adoptee. Perhaps you can ask Worm for some references, there are a number of editors who run his program. Ryan Vesey 04:55, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Take it easy Ryan. I think when the time is right, she would asks herself. Thank you very much again! :D -- RexRowan  Talk  13:51, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for your helpful words...--Ekabhishektalk 03:18, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

No problem, have you gotten around to using your tools yet? You might want to place {{Adminstats}} on your user page. Ryan Vesey 13:42, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

NPF

Concurring with your comment, tools are only useful in the hands of a worker who know how to use them. The main and only real issue at NPP is that unlike rollbacker , reviewer, and a couple of other 'maintenance' functions, it does not officially require any demonstration of competence or knwowledge. As a consequence, it is not sufficiently attractive to 'hat collectors' who generally do in fact do a good job of counter-vandalism etc. The Foundation developed the new feed in response to two years of research and complaining by a team of admins, but the developers and/or their coordinators seem only to be ready to accept or address the symptoms and not the cause. As a consequence, I can only see it getting worse when the NPF finally goes live. This does not seem to be in harmony with their ideology of user retention. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:20, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

There have been concerns that NPF can hurt editor retention, which is sad because I believe this can be an excellent tool in improving editor retention. The solution needs to come on the side of the community and that will come from a patroller userright. I'm too exhausted with the behind the scenes side of Wikipedia to actively work on making it happen though. Ryan Vesey 20:15, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi

Hi Ryan, are you a paid editor? How does it work? Thanks! -- RexRowan  Talk  16:42, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

We have paid editors?! Blimey! I should get in to that too.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  16:59, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Hi Adam, how's holiday? :D -- RexRowan  Talk  17:00, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Not bad, had a couple of down points... but currently good.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  17:04, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Awesome, I joined a project to help female editors. Remember the good times and that's what counts! :D -- RexRowan  Talk  17:15, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
I'm not paid at all. Wikipedia doesn't pay anybody. Occasionally, editors get paid by external companies to edit pages. Most Wikipedians look down on them. Ryan Vesey 17:19, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
I see. I saw some of us mentor them. Thank you! :D -- RexRowan  Talk  17:21, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Administrator?

Are you an administrator? You seem to be well-versed in policies and, after looking at some of your contributions, are the kind of person Wikipedia needs. Go Phightins! (talk) 03:03, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Ryan Vesey. There weren't enough people who thought like you do. Ryan Vesey 03:04, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh, well that's unfortunate. Is it still something you'd like to do in the future? Go Phightins! (talk) 03:05, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) You can find anyone's user rights by finding them at Special:ListUsers.--Jasper Deng (talk) 03:06, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Hmmm, hadn't heard of that one before. I figured that this would be pretty quick anyway. Thanks though Go Phightins! (talk) 03:07, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure. It's not particularly fun work, so there's a part of me that says why do that work if the community didn't want me to? I might run again someday, I guess it will depend on how I feel at the time. Ryan Vesey 03:17, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Ryan's much too helpful to be an administrator!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:32, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Actually, he's a textbook example of admin material. AutomaticStrikeout 17:36, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure about being the textbook example. I'm a college student and still very liable to go off half-cocked when I get riled up. Ryan Vesey 17:39, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, but you are not a normal college student. A normal college student is too busy texting about last weekend's party. You are a 50-year old going back to college to get his second Ph.D. You are also not pompous and arrogant enough to be an admin. Dr. Blofeld on the other hand.... :) Bgwhite (talk) 17:58, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
"is also like Ryan, far too superior and intelligent to be admin material" is what you were trying to say BG? Good grief if I'm arrogant I wonder what that makes others...Dr. Blofeld 18:44, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
What I was trying to say is Ryan is intelligent and, in theory, acting older means you have wisdom and have learned from your mistakes. For me personally, I just find even bigger ways to make a mistake. Ryan, thank you for taking on Wikify. Interesting that you plus two great admins, Kudpung and Magioladitis, were involved in this. That shows you will be in the pantheon of great admins. I must have been one of the few that had good interactions with Sandy. They helped me immensely when I took articles thru FL. Now someone orange on the otherhand. Bgwhite (talk) 21:25, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for that, on the helpful note, I've already used {{subst:RFL}}. Thanks for that template. Ryan Vesey 17:39, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Yes, strange really why its not part of the toolbox anyway.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:47, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Template parameters

I have found the mundane kinda stuff that keeps me busy. I believe I have your oldid parameters you requested for the Collaboration of the day.--Amadscientist (talk) 06:47, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

I need to figure out a few things. I made some changes based on some tests, but I reverted everything as the template only worked in full text and wasn't transposing in the short {{ }} formating. I tried to do this to late and wasn't thinking clearly. LOL! Give me another day...or you may be able to see where i was going with this and get someone to figure it out before I return on it tomorrow.--Amadscientist (talk) 09:25, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
The change is good, but I'd love to see something that allows the template to be transcluded. I'll try something. Ryan Vesey 15:40, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

ANI discussion

Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Possible wikihounding. Thank you. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 09:29, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Also, I apologize for bringing this up to you again, but I also felt that the previous resolution has failed and I have already explained my actions there. The edits by Niemti seem to clearly fit the description of WP:WIKIHOUNDING due to expression of perceived slights on AN/I, the "errors" "corrected" are not unambiguous and violations of Wikipedia policy, and the hounding is being accompanied by tendentiousness, edit warring, personal attacks ([4], [5] on Ninja Turtles, on which I helped clean up, and [6], [7], [8] on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (film series).) as noted in Dennis Brown's talk page and on my comments at ANI. I was only trying to help point Niemti in the right direction, but I fear that he has used up his rope and has violated #2 of the standard offer. Regardless, I have kept his talk page off my watchlist. If I have unintentionally upset anyone, then I am deeply sorry. When I spoke with Berean Hunter today here, I have been told that fresh eyes on this matter may help lead to a resolution. Until then, we shall wait and see what is going on at ANI. Would this work? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 18:44, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Hey Sjones. I hope something productive can come out of the ANI discussion; however, I won't be taking part. As you can see from the top of my page, I'm avoiding ANI like the plague. I'm heading back to college this week and I'm a bit burned out. Ryan Vesey 19:03, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah. Niemti reported me to ANI, and I am clearly frustrated by his antics in general as there is no policy going around and fixing and cleaning up any bad edits that he did. I just want to get a positive solution working and I am terribly sorry that this had to happen. :-) Thanks for your comments, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 21:19, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
