R.E.M. songs

Hey there. Thanks for letting me know. You got it pretty complete, as far as I can tell. The only more glaring omission I can see is the fanclub singles, which should be considered official as well and were all released under the name of R.E.M.. There's a good list (maybe complete, I'm not sure) to start with here (see more to the middle of the page): <--deleted-->

As for another contribution I could give, I think I wouldn't credit songs using compilations (unless, like "Bad Day" or "Hallelujah", they only appeared in compilations). I mean, take "Rotary 11" or "2JN" or "Fretless"; their first release was on singles. It's the same principle as album songs who later appeared on compilations too. Their first credit should be their first release, no?

That's a really great job. I'm gonna look at it more closely and check my collection to see if I can add more. Congratulations! - 187.20.71.73 (talk) 17:44, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

An update: those three songs I included back at the 1988-2011 page ("Photograph", "Draggin' The Line" and "I Walked With a Zombie") could also be here. "Radio Free Europe" has two versions; one is from the Hibtone single (that one who starts with a high-pitched whistle and that ended up in some compilations) and another is the final version on Murmur. And "Strange" and "Superman" are not BBMS, they're covers of Wire and The Clique, respectively. I'll keep checking for more. - 187.20.71.73 (talk) 17:53, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback. This was my first run at the list, based on a copy/paste from my iTunes library and data manipulation with Excel, Word and NotePad++. Obviously much more work to do, which is why it's on a workpage.
I would add the non-REM released comps and Christmas club singles (I was not a member, so that list from Morrissey solo is helpful). I thought of adding year of release, but the U2 list of recorded songs doesn't have it, so ity doesn't seem necessary. Fantailfan (talk) 18:31, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

Hey, looking even better now with all the singles and the new column widths. Make sure to add those other tracks (compilations and fanclub), and I don't think there's gonna be much else to do (a tip here: go to the edit mode of the 1988-2011 page and copy the links I made for those compilation songs, so you won't have any extra work). Good catch on adding "On The Fly" and "Staring Down" as well, I had forgotten about them. I guess year could be a nice touch maybe, but like you said, it's not necessary. - 187.20.71.73 (talk) 16:53, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

1988-2011 compilation

Hi there! I don't understand the reasoning behind taking off the * from some of the problems. Did iTunes effectively resolve the issues? That would mean good news after all! - 187.20.71.73 (talk) 04:58, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Some have been resolved, and I removed them from the Known Issues section.
Resolved:
  • The first track, "Funtime," is no longer listed as live.
  • "Shiny Happy People" (Hip Mix) dropout is fixed.
  • "Orange Crush" (Live) is no longer "Dark Globe."
Not resolved:
  • "The Lifting" original is still mislabeled. That should be fixable.
  • "Turn You Inside-Out" is still mislabeled
  • "The One I Love" acoustic live is still mislabeled.
  • I expect the last one will never be fixed. I can't tell the difference myself because I don't own non-digital versions of these tracks.
In addition, "First We Take Manhattan" suffers from some pops that are not from ripping the source to digital. (The Automatic Box version also has the pops). It is available but I don't know if the got a better source from Sony, but I am unable to download it anymore.
And for some reason I can't download "The Great Beyond" either. More correspondence with Apple.

R.E.M. edits

Thanks a lot This is stuff I've been meaning to do forever (e.g. adding album covers). I appreciate your hard work. Let me know if you want collaborate on any of these. Clearly, I haven't had as much time to devote as I'd like but when I do, I'm game. —Justin (koavf)TCM 22:56, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
