[edit]Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Steve Carell. Your edits could be interpreted as vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Seeing as you have already received one warning about your edits to this article (months ago), you should refrain from making any further changes unless they are scrupulously sourced. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 03:25, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
- the date is incorrect to my knollege he was.born in 1962 not 1963 Imdb has him listed 1962 and alot of other sites reference that date, so by having 1963 would be false information, i would not make an edit if i did not feel i was in the right thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rutgersfan1 (talk • contribs) 08:54, November 7, 2015 (UTC)
- Rutgersfan1: It is possible that you are actually correct with your revised DOB. The issue is that, on Wikipedia, we need a Reliable source to back things like this up. If you can find a reliable source (e.g. a news article, or an interview, etc.) with the correct DOB, then you are fully justified in making that change – so you may want to see if you can dig up a source for your revised Date-of-Birth. However, and this is important: IMDb is not considered a "reliable source" on info like DOB's (e.g. see WP:Citing IMDb), so you can't rely on or use IMDb for this unfortunately. (P.S. Don't forget to sign your Talk page posts with the "4 tildes": ~~~~ – that will get your "signature" to show up on any Talk page posts.) Good luck --IJBall (contribs • talk) 17:20, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Is there a particular reason you object to the year of the photo being present in the caption? Revert warring is really frowned upon. Can you discuss your changes on the talk page of the article? There seems to be a pretty overwhelming consensus that the caption should include the year, but if you have a reason to remove it, then please say so. --Azure Anteater (talk) 07:18, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
- not really an issue i have with it, i just feel that the year of the photo was taken doesnt have to be on the headline under picture because if a person wants to find the information about the picture its there if you click on the image the complete date of this photo is all in the details, i been taking care of this page for awhile now never had an issue the way i set this page up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rutgersfan1 (talk • contribs) 08:47, November 7, 2015 (UTC)
- The years in image captions have been used in other articles without any controversy, meaning just because you don't like it, doesn't mean your way is correct. Also, you are not the owner of this article, so the latter argument has no merit. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 23:18, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
- Since you gave no response here, other that "because you don't like it", I'll continue to revert anytime you remove the year from the captions. You've already been reported to an admin, and if you keep this up, you may be blocked. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:51, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Dissident93 as state to you as you stated.to me that i do not own this page neither do you, so what makes your way correct mine wrong, put the date, its sad you reported me to make.your way correct so now mine is wrong, there is alot of inacurate information on wiki so if you putting a date on a caption solitifys as you making a huge contribution to this page so be it.
- If you want to be taken seriously, you have to write better than that. And yes, it's not my article either, but there is no reason to keep removing it without a valid reason. Take a look at other NFL player articles to see that it's been that way for years, and just because you don't like it, doesn't mean you get to continue to revert it after being told to stop by various editors. Pretty silly to be edit warring over something so trivial, but again, consensus says to keep it. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 05:48, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
Dissident93: not every wiki page has to.be exactly the same, just cause its done in on other nfl players doesnt mean it has to be fone here but if having 2009 the year the photo supposely was taken is make it break it for a few users to be satisfied i wont pursue it, if you wanna do something positive for ray rice page in his personal life there is all negativity on how he knocked out his wife janay palmer, why dont you update that and put all the charities he has donated to and all the good things he has been doing lately to restore his image as a player/person and a citizen. Thats real information not a date a picture was taken

[edit] You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.
When you don't agree on something, you need to follow WP:BRD, and stop making your edit until an agreement is reached through discussion. If you just make your edit again without discussing, you will be blocked from editing for a short period. Please discuss issues on article talk pages. Thank you.
