Black Company

[edit]

Mind if I take a crack at this article first? I had been meaning to get around to it, but was occupied writing up some of C.J. Cherryh's novels. It's not a big deal if you want to do it yourself - I can always check back later and add my 2 cents afterwards. Clarityfiend 23:05, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

fair use images on your userpage

[edit]

I am concerned that you are using fair use images on your userpage. The terms of the use of Image:Doctor Zoidberg.png, Image:Homestar Runner.png, and Image:Texas.gif prevent them from being used anywhere except the article in question, and particularly not on userpages. Please see Wikipedia:Fair use#Policy and Wikipedia:Removal of fair use images for more information. I'd ask that you please remove these images yourself, as I do not wish to disturb your userpage/userboxes. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 00:46, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also Image:The Secret of Monkey Island.png is a fair use image too. So the same applies for it as well. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 00:55, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Good point, I hadn't thought about copyright issues on userboxes. I'll modify my user page accordingly. Thanks! - Runch 03:55, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

T. Goodkind

[edit]

I would like to extend a welcome. I see you have taken a good look at Goodkind’s page. So me good work I see. Although Terry has no Internet, he would like some to add some content and pertinent facts. Can you help? Mystar 05:12, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to see you keeping a sharp eye on the articles, Runch. Thanks for the upkeep Omnilord August 1, 2006

Are we to assume you have no input for the Goodkind page? Mystar 16:37, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been content with just keeping an eye on the proceedings, for now. I've seen some good edits, some bad (as is to be expected). More or less, I'm still waiting to hear back from the moderation committee before I really put much effort back into this subject. - Runch 16:42, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please help out and up load the new image? I've been unable to figure it out. Thanx Mystar 19:35, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Terry Goodkind

[edit]

I'll not bother to start edit wars with User:mystar until some admin talks sense into him, nor do I feel like arguing with him more than I already have on the Talk page (hence the putting this here and not there); but for the article, I propose to use my 17:09 edit of today when mystar stops reverting it. Paul Willocx 17:29, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But yet, you do! You and your ASOFAI cronies are the vandals. But you cannot have it both ways. You allow the same content on GRRM, ASOFAI pages and yet demand it be removed from Goodkind's page. All anyone has to do is to look at your edit and history sheet. It reads like a fanatic of marticns. One who will do anything to make Goodkind look bad.

I ask you why are you so afraid of Goodkind? It is truly clear to see how much you fear him being seen in any kind of positive light. Telling indeed!

Runch, if, as you say, you wish to discuss Goodkind's page, I'm all ears. But todate, all I've seen is you bent on removing anything of value or of an informative value to his page. I see you allowing the same stuff to stand on other pages...where I in fact got all of the edits I made, I simply changed the names and facts to fit Goodkind's info. So why the double standard?

mystar68.188.220.8 04:14, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have two points to make:
  • 1. I have 0 ASOIAF edits. None.
  • 2. I'm not going to expend any more energy trying to fight you. If you truly don't understand why your edits are summarily deleted, then I can't say anything to make you understand. I've tried pointing you towards a wealth of information on Wikipedia, and others have tried to explain to you the error of your ways. You either just don't understand or refuse to listen. All I can say is read the discussions on the talk pages again, perhaps you will learn why most of your edits are POV.
You should know that I have asked for a moderator to help with the edit warring on the TG page. You are probably not willing to admit it to yourself, but if you continue on making edits as you have been in the past, you may very well get banned from Wikipedia for a short period of time. Again, read the discussions on the talk page, and consider wisely before editing. - Runch 14:31, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Then you have gone ahead and requested mediation? I hate to see people that are just misguided and not blatant vandals get banned but Mystar is, in fact, heading down that road. He keeps ignoring all the rules, considers all others to be less qualified than himself and is growing increasingly belligerent and hostile in tone and action. I see no other choice. NeoFreak 21:13, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've posted a response to your own on my talk page. We can continue to discuss this there if that is fine with you. Cheers. NeoFreak 23:02, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As I said there, mystar did indeed make progress when it came to editing the article, but sadly not when it came to being reasonable on the talk page. (As he proves again in here - unlike him, I am perfectly capable of talking about Martin on Martin's page and about Goodkind on Goodkind's page, and judging both by their own merits). Paul Willocx 16:06, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Would you be willing to be a participant in a Offical Mediation in regards to Mystar and the Terry Goodkind / Sword of Truth articles? NeoFreak 16:43, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the quick response. Any help you could give me submitting the request would be a great help as I have never done it before and I don't want to waste anyboby's time. NeoFreak 16:57, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you a willing to submit the request that would probably be best. I think everyone will be willing with the exception of Mystman666. We should know for sure in a day or two. NeoFreak 17:27, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In lieu of recent edits I am on the verge of a total meltdown with Mystar and I have to take a break. Any work you can do on this request while I'm gone would be immensely appreaciated. Thanks for all of your help so far. NeoFreak 01:30, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone ever read these things? Anyway I'm all ears. Where is the moderation? Wikipedia is about facts and not about biase. SO if you are going to place negitive hyperbole, then it is only fair to allow positive. If you are going to allow things like personal opinion attacks and partial truths, then it is also incumbant upon you to allow such additions in a positive light. Quid pro Quo.

YOU want correct accurate informational content, not personal biase or hyperbole, yet that is exactly what you are allowing. Your words do not match your actions.

mystarMystar 02:42, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll submit the formal request for moderation tomorrow afternoon, probably. I was just waiting to make sure everyone who wanted to be involved had a chance to say so. - Runch 03:39, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The mediation request looks great, thanks for all the hard work. NeoFreak 13:03, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Song of Ice and Fire headings

[edit]

In Wikipedia:Manual of Style (headings)#Wording it says Avoid restating the subject of the article or of an enclosing section in heading titles. I didn't realize that the Novels WikiProject had a conflicting guideline. This probably is something they should talk about. Personally, I've always thought that headings should be the shortest you can get away with while still being clear. — Laura Scudder 03:01, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Runch, sorry for the confusion. I post on most sites as Merritt (with two t's). When I came over to Wikipedia, somebody already had the name, so I had to cut one 't' off the end as I made the mistake of doing at Mystar's website. Again, sorry for the confusion I caused. Replacing images

[edit]

Please don't replace low resolution fair use images with high resolution ones. Our fair use policy is not to keep such images in a size larger than what we need in the articles. Haukur 19:04, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I was just trying to do some housekeeping. Seems like I need to review WP:FU. - Runch 19:08, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, you were obviously well-intentioned and for any other class of images this would have been the right thing to do. This fair use stuff can be counterintuitive. Haukur 19:11, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:SOT

[edit]

okay, you stole my idea. i can live with that :P. anyway, i've never been in with a project before and i'm wondering where you'll be doing all the co-ordinating from. should i check out the WP:SOT page, or what? also, how would someone know when somethings been done and finished with? You took the job as head of the wikiproject dude.

Sounds cool to me, but I say we use the WP:SOT discussion page instead of a general forum so all information stays right there in one spot. you didn't mention if this forum would be on another site, or somewhere else in wikipedia, but i think that it would be a bad idea to set it up somewhere else. it would make it too hard to find if anybody else where to join the project and leave them out of the loop. - Patrickjsanford 03:21, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:SOT Ideas

[edit]

hey man, on the WP:SOT page under the People and Group Articles table we need to add an entry for Blood of the Fold. We have a seperate page for the book, but not one for the group. also, i think we need to add a page for listing profeshions somewhere because there are quite a few jobs that are mentioned, but not noted on wikipedia. also, where the hell is everyone going to talk? i've been using the general forum for the WP, but it seems like i'm out of the loop somehow. - Patrickjsanford 17:53, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sick of Mystar

[edit]

Hi Runch, I'm soliciting comments regarding Mystar, he's really pissing me off and I'm sick of it. I'm putting in a request for comments in a bit, in the mean time I'm soliciting people who've been pissed off by him in the past. If you're willing to have any input, I'm asking for help. Both people involved are scrutinized, so if there are comments where I've pissed you off or made stupid comments, I would also like those - they'll help me improve my conduct. I'm also posting this on other people's page, check my contribs for this chunk of time. Realizing you have a different relationship with Mystar than I do, I understand if you aren't interested. Orphaned fair use image (Image:ShawdowmarchV1.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ShawdowmarchV1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Fair use rationale for Image:A_Redwall_Winter's_Tale.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:A_Redwall_Winter's_Tale.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Calling all active WP:NOVELS members

[edit]
WikiProject Novels Roll Call

WikiProject Novels is currently holding a roll call, which we hope to have annually. Your username is listed on the members list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active within the project. If you still consider yourself an active WP:Novels editor, please add your name back to the Active Members list. Also feel free to join any of our task forces and take a look at the project's Job Centre to get involved!

Next month we will begin the coordinator election selection process. We hope to have more involvement and input this time around! More news will be forthcoming. Thanks, everyone! María (habla conmigo) 18:47, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Mossflower US.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mossflower US.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:11, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Foremole has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

nothing particularly notable about the fictional character, and no references to assert notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sadads (talk) 02:37, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The Sum of All Men moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, The Sum of All Men, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Brotherhood of the Wolf (novel), a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:31, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Runch. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Brotherhood of the Wolf".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 04:53, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
