Welcome

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia! The reason for the reverts is that here on Wikipedia the county is known as Londonderry and the city as Derry, it is a compromise that seems to work. You may wish to fight it but I hope that you choose to participate in making the project better. One last thing and sometime it's the hardest thing to remember; Wikipedia is NOT a battleground; we have more in common with each other than we don't. Bjmullan (talk) 23:16, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen your recent edits and while I do agree with them personally, unfortunatly if you do keep going against what has been agreed at WP:IMOS then you might get blocked. I would reccomend you take any potential policy changes there rather than changing each article. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 17:58, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

November 2011

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions. Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Anglo-Irish Agreement, as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. RashersTierney (talk) 22:57, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Derry. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. You user page makes it clear where you stand politically, and that's your prerogative. But taking your opinions into articles by editing against long-standing consensus is disruption and vandalism. Please take care. HighKing (talk) 17:59, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also the Mayor of Derry, County Londonderry, Coleraine and City of Derry Airport articles. --HighKing (talk) 18:11, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IMOS

[edit]

Please see WP:IMOS before making any more edits concerning Derry. Mo ainm~Talk 18:05, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also be aware that this is a contentious area of editing and disruptive behaviour may result in sanctions - see WP:TROUBLES --HighKing (talk) 18:11, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your feelings about Londonderry. I too share the same view but I would please ask, for your own good on Wikipedia, please take your opinions on it to IMOS rather than to each individual page as they will get removed. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 18:15, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Useful to know - WP:AE

[edit]

I copied this from User talk:FergusM1970 written by Mo Anim. It's useful to know --HighKing (talk) 15:51, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The article Derry, along with other articles relating to The Troubles, is currently subject to active arbitration remedies, as laid out during a 2007 Arbitration case, and amended by community consensus in 2008 and 2009. The current restrictions are:

  • All editors on Troubles-related articles are directed to get the advice of neutral parties via means such as outside opinions.
  • All articles related to The Troubles, defined as: any article that could be reasonably construed as being related to The Troubles, Irish nationalism, and British nationalism in relation to Ireland falls under WP:1RR (one revert per editor per article per 24 hour period). When in doubt, assume it is related.
  • Clear vandalism, or edits by anonymous IP editors, may be reverted without penalty.
  • Editors who violate this 1RR restriction may be blocked without warning by any uninvolved administrator, even on a first offence.
  • Editors may be subject to discretionary sanctions.

If you are a new editor, or an editor unfamiliar with the situation, please follow the above guidelines. If you are unsure if your edit is appropriate, discuss it here on this talk page first. You may also wish to review the arbitration case page. When in doubt, don't revert!
