Merge discussion for Martian Gullies

An article that you have been involved in editing, Martian Gullies , has been proposed for a merge with another article. If you are interested in the merge discussion, please participate by going here, and adding your comments on the discussion page. Thank you. BatteryIncluded(talk) 17:13, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Huh? I've never edit that article. -- tariqabjotu 17:50, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
I know, but you edited the proposed target article called: Seasonal flows on warm Martian slopes as shown here. Anyway, it was just a courtesy message in case you still want to be involved in that article, Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 18:02, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Martian gullies

Hi BI. I see you just sorted the naming conventions on Martian gullies. Thanks! This had been bothering me for a while, but I hadn't done anything. But beyond this, what do you think to renaming the whole thing to Gully (Mars)? I started a thread on that talkpage to this effect, but it's not drawn any comment yet. Rationale is there. DanHobley (talk) 03:37, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Arbitration case request declined

Hello, this is a courtesy notice to inform you that the request for arbitration regarding Mars, in which you were named as a party, has been declined to be heard by the Arbitration Committee. The Arbitrators felt that as well as there being content aspects to this dispute that tensions are begining to ease. They suggested that if issues with individual editors can be brought to easlier steps in the dispute resolution process or to ANI. Please see the Arbitrators' comments for further suggestions. For the Arbitration Committee, Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 01:07, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Panspermia Model (all models but especially the Hoyle-Wickramasinghe Model) include both RadioPanspermia and Lithopanspermia

talk:BatteryIncluded please make sure you are clear in your mention of the two promulgation methods ie free flying and hosted on carriers. Please make sure your change does not imply that Hoyle-Wickramasnghe Model was just radiopanspermia as that is far from the case. CW has a number of papers on the importance of Comets and Asteroids. See citations below :

  1. that dormant viruses and desiccated DNA/RNA can survive unprotected in interplanetary space (RadioPanspermia) [1]
  2. that the seeds of life can survive protected from cosmic rays in asteroids, comets and meteors (LithoPanspermia)[2] [3] [4]

I am busy at the moment but will look into it. In the mean time, please take a look at the effects of dehydration and vacuum on DNA. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 20:58, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

New Stratosphere Experiment finds Diatoms

FYI BatteryIncluded the addition I made yesterday is brand new news. The UK Daily Mail article was yesterday and the report covered an experiment in July 2013, which was presented at SPIE 2013 4 weeks ago in San Diego. Although CW presented the paper and was on the team, the work is mostly that of Milton Wainwright (U Sheffield) the team leader. I think my citation to the newspaper article is valid and should be put back in. The information about the paper itself can wait until the SPIE 2013 journal is published - which should be within 2 weeks. FYI finding a diatom at 25 km in the stratosphere is a first and is important to be reported. BSmith821 (talk) 17:01, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Gaia

Hi there, let me thank you for the extensive work you did at Gaia (spacecraft). I did some copy-editing, mainly removing the italics added to the name of the mission which I believe are not needed. I'd say the article still needs some more references, but the improvement seems to be enough to warrant removing the Refimprove tag. Regards. Gaba (talk) 23:07, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. Yes, additional references are always welcome; I just thought that the template was not required any more as the most critical info does have references. In the days to come I will tweak the article a bit more and find more references. We can expect a rush of editing as the observatory is launched, we'll be busy then with additional info and refs. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 00:57, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

CASSIOPE

Hi Batt. Good to see you again. Re your recent edits to CASSIOPE, the reason the article is about both the Satellite payloads and also the launch vehicle, and why it is named what it is, is due to WP:LAUNCHES. Therefore the scope of the article, even in the lede, (as the article stands today) needs to be able to include the launch vehicle, and the other nanosat secondary payloads. Please consider adding an appropriate sentence or two on the latter two items yourself, something consistent with the tone and fixes of the rest of your edits.

You'll find this addressed on the CASSIOPE Talk page, and at WP:WikiProject Spaceflight. However, note that there seems to be a willingness at present to revisit WP:LAUNCHES and retool that essay for today, a world where many more secondary payloads are being launched, and for a world where, sometimes, the LV is more notable than the satellite itself. Hope you'll take a look, and weigh in. Cheers. N2e (talk) 16:22, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello N2e. Good to work with you again. My thought is that the rocket used is already mentioned and referenced. I see no purpose to include a whole section on the rocket development, which is best covered in Falcon 9. To draw comments about it, I did not delete it but rendered it invisible. I don't feel strongly about this and will not contest your revert if you decide to do so. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk)
I'm not yet sure what I'll do on CASSIOPE. If you read the Talk page over there, you may have seen that I'd like to see a separate article for the (quite notable) launch, but am waiting for consensus, or the revision of the WP:LAUNCHES essay.
In the meantime, I have put a few thoiughts on Talk:Falcon 9 about reorganizing that article. WOuld love to have your input on that. N2e (talk) 04:55, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Help with new Navbox

Hello. I require assistance in making this new Navbar go live. I tried posting the whole template and only {{Canadian Space Agency}} at the bottom of the Canadian Space Agency article but I am still getting and error message: "Error: Page does not exist". Thank you for your time. BatteryIncluded (talk) 17:45, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Is that better? – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 19:04, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
No luck. Wherever I insert the template's name {{Canadian Space Agency}} I still get "Error: Page does not exist": See this and this. I never created a Navbar before, so if the solution is obvious to you I apologize. What am I missing? Thanks, BatteryIncluded (talk) 19:14, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Gaia move

Just to let you know, something seems to have gone wrong when you tried to move Gaia (spacecraft) to Gaia (satellite), because only the talk page was moved. I've put it back together at the old title for now, but if you want to try moving it again then feel free - that said I personally think (spacecraft) is a better title than (satellite) since it's orbiting an Earth-Sun Lagrangian point; only spacecraft in earth orbit are typically called satellites. --W. D. Graham 22:57, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Moller, again

Moller (the Skycar guy) has announced he will make a big announcement on Nov. 5th. See Talk:Moller M400 Skycar for details. He's making the announcement on a radio show, so it probably won't involve actual flight. Please watch the article for promotional-type edits; there was one today. Thanks. --John Nagle (talk) 05:37, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Interesting extremophile. I think tests are needed to assess its survival rate in vacuum, freezing, and radiation. They also need to characterize its growth requirements so enough biomass can be produced for actual testing. Thanks~, BatteryIncluded (talk) 16:13, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Mars Orbiter Mission

Why you have reverted my edit on page Mars Orbiter Mission. This page is related to India and should use dmy format.--Ujjwal234goel (talk) 17:00, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

OK. Both formats are usedin Wikipedia. My issue was primarirly with your use of comas in the orbit altitudes e.g: 1,18,300 km) . It may be India's way, but non-Indians reading this article will not understand the notation, which strongly suggests that one digit is missing. As I said, we all assume good faith, OK? Europa Clipper

Thanks for your expansion of the Europa Clipper article! It is greatly appreciated!

I would like to ask however one thing: Do you have a reference for this quote? The mission name is a reference to the lightweight and fast moving clipper ships of the 19th century that routinely plied trade routes on the high seas. English is not my native language, but I was under the impression that the name was chosen as the concept evolved from the Europa Orbiter, and that the Europa Clipper simply did "clip" Europa's orbit and not orbit Europa (hence Europa Clipper and not Europa Orbiter). That Clipper is a reference to the ships is now obvious to me now in hindsight, but I would greatly appreciate a source for the reason behind the name. Tony Mach (talk) 20:37, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello User:Tony Mach. The quote about clipper ships is from NASA: [1]. By the way, you beat me to the creation of this article by a few hours. Just yesterday I collected a bunch of references in my Sandbox so that I would start writing it today. Oh well, team work is always better. CHeers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 23:05, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
This is the second time this week I beat someone on adding an (completely unrelated) topic. Didn't mean to pre-empt you, and I hope it didn't make your life to difficult! :-) Next time I simply wait! (No, not really!) :-) You added much more information than I ever could. I read about Europa Clipper a couple of months ago, and as there was now a advocacy article on the Planetary Society, I wondered why there still isn't an article here in Wikipedia yet. So I created an stub, in the hope that someone more qualified would flesh it out. I've added two images to illustrate the flyby concept, don't know if they are the right choice for the article. Tony Mach (talk) 23:18, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
Of course I am not upset for not being the creator. I will be proud to be its curator.  :-) Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 23:21, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Chang'e 3 images

Chang'e 3 landing site.

Hi BatteryIncluded! I only noticed the 'notes-to-self' that you'd left in the Chang'e 3 article once you'd removed them. It just so happens that I'm a graphic designer, and often help out at the Photography workshop. If you have any specific ideas for creating derivative images for use in this or other articles please don't hesitate to drop a request at my talk page. I'm glad to see that the Chang'e 3 article is beginning to ripen nicely, in no small part thanks to your efforts. Hopefully, once we reach some kind of critical mass, the Yutu (rover) article can be brought in line with it. All the best for the holidays. Kind regards, nagualdesign (talk) 02:32, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Thank you, nagualdesign, for the offer and encouragement. You have also been quite helpful to the article. I am sorry I misjudge you early; I had been upset with wikizealots deleting text here and elsewhere because both: it is "plagiarism" and because "is not exactly what the source reported." No middle point. The hang'e 3 landing location annotation in yellow was made by me, but I have no idea how to use Photoshop, so I kept it at a bare minimum. If you feel like upgrading it please go ahead, I have no skills for that. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 13:25, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Chinese Lunar Exploration Program

Hi BatteryIncluded! Hope you had a nice Christmas Day. Do you fancy taking a look at Chinese Lunar Exploration Program at some point? I've rewritten much of it, so I'd appreciate if someone could at least check my work. If you have the time, perhaps you could help with the refs (the old ones were mostly rubbish), or expand the individual mission paragraphs just a little. I didn't want them to go into too much detail though. Just an overview of each mission looks okay to me. Maybe just expand Chang'e 4 and 5, if you have anything worth adding. No worries if not, I'm sure I could rustle up something. Sometimes it's better to get new eyes on things though, and I thought you might enjoy it. Kind regards, nagualdesign (talk) 04:06, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Sure. I'll take a look at that on Monday. CHeers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 16:29, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Images on El Chapo's page

Hi, BatteryIncluded. What's your stance on uploading images to El Chapo's article? According to the WP:NFCCP policy, only one non-free image should be posted per article ... which means that most of the cool pictures we could upload on the page would probably be removed (considering that El Chapo's image is non-free already). I was thinking on trying to upload a U.S. government picture of El Chapo and some other drug lords, but the image-police would probably remove it entirely from Wikipedia. What do you think we should do? Camarena's picture is free, but it's not that helpful if it's the only one there :/ ... thanks. ComputerJA () 09:14, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

I only used the images that are currently active in their corresponding articles. Somehow they have docked deletion by the WP Police. BatteryIncluded (talk) 09:18, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
