How nice it is to make an article

[edit]

I really enjoyed making an article on Wikipedia very much, even though it gets pretty hard, and I had a good time. Richard Ariel (Mobile Animator) (talk) 02:41, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Richard Ariel (Mobile Animator), and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Stickcam, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! McGeddon (talk) 16:41, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Stickcam requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hi Richard. Unfortunately, I have tagged your page, Richard Ariel's Blog for speedy deletion under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a website that does not indicate why the blog is important or significant. This is because of a policy we have called the notability guideline for webpages. Simply put, the mere existence of a webpage does not guarantee it can have a Wikipedia article: articles must meet a minimum threshold of notability to be kept. You need to find independent sources, such as newspapers, magazine articles, or reliable websites not connected to this blog that discuss the web content in detail. Just confirming the website's existence is not enough. I'm sorry if this comes across as an unfamiliar policy, but there is a rationale behind this requirement: without sufficient background information, a topic will be too obscure to verify any of its pertinent information, and it will be extremely difficult to develop into a quality article.

Please do not be discouraged by this deletion. I hope that you will enjoy creating articles on topics that do have enough notability (sources) to be kept. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me on my talk page or ask at the WP:TEAHOUSE, a forum for new editors looking for help. Altamel (talk) 04:36, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if you enjoy writing about websites, consider helping Wikipedia improve its existing articles about websites. Wikipedia:WikiProject Websites contains a list of website articles sorted by quality and importance. The ones classified as a "stub" are the shortest and need the most work, while the ones classified as "FA" are essentially complete. Best of luck! Altamel (talk) 04:46, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Richard Ariel (Mobile Animator). We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. TomStar81 (Talk) 07:39, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your Username

[edit]

Given that your are new here and making what would otherwise be considered promotional edits I would HIGHLY recommend that you read through Wikipedia:Username policy to make sure you don't end up being blocked from editing before you have a chance to get started. Re: Richard Ariel's Blog

[edit]

The article was deleted because Wikipedia is not a blog and because your article failed Wikipedia's notability standards for inclusion. Since your article had two strikes going in, and since your username lends the perception that the article was created for promotion purposes, it was deleted.
