Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Harald Sigtryggsson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Norse people. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Bank of England notes

Hi, thanks for the reminder. Yes I have requested approval before but I completely missed the date this year. I'll get on to them now. Cloudbound (talk) 18:56, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

Here's something you might find useful in the future: the way to seek approval from the Bank of England is through this website. I've just seen that they produce a selection of photos that can be used with very strict guidelines here. I think this could be a good one to use somewhere, what do you think? Cloudbound (talk) 19:03, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
Absolutely. That particular image could be useful on either Banknotes of the pound sterling or Bank of England note issues. I've been working on some pages for individual banknotes lately which is what made me notice the permission issue. Thanks for your help. Retroplum (talk) 19:24, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
I've requested approval from the Bank of England so I should hear back from them next week. Providing they continue to approve our use, I'll upload it then. Cloudbound (talk) 21:04, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
Thanks again. Retroplum (talk) 21:05, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

Dear Retroplum, Looking at your previous edits it appears you have experience in extracting and modifying SVG's for use. Do you think it would be possible to extract the new identity for the Scottish Government (can be found as SVG on beta.scot.gov) and use it to replace the old Scottish Government logo as used on the wiki page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_Government)? If you are unable to do this, uninterested or busy please let me know so I can find another user to do it. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

Cut-and-paste move

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give St. Mary Magdalene's Church, Gilsland a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into St Mary Magdalene's Church, Gilsland. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. 2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Retroplum, I have seen your work on UK Department Logos looking much greater and less blurry, they are amazing. Could you maybe do the same thing for the "Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport" and maybe also for the previous department "Culture, Media and Sport"?
