Heritage Jr. B
Hello, thank you for editing the Heritage Jr. B article I created. I live in Ontario and do not know much about hockey outside of my province. If you can, could you attempt to edit more of the leagues I worked on in Western Canada? There is a list of all the leagues I've done in my user page, if you can help... please do... there is Jr. A, Jr. B, and Jr. C to be editted to some degree. I'd also like there to be some league history added, but I do not know much about these leagues other than that they exist. If you'd like to talk to me, please write me in my "My talk" page. Thanks Again. DMighton 03:45, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- You are welcome. I was actually surprised a page was even created for the HJHL. I'm starting with the AJHL first, having just created a page for the Calgary Royals, but will work on some of the other Alberta based leagues that I am familiar with as well. Resolute 04:42, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well... before I started there was no pages for any league under major junior... and that pissed me off a little. I played all levels of OHA junior hockey... and I wanted to make it possible for people on wiki to know about the OHF, OHA, and OPJHL... from there... I thought it wouldn't be fair to stop with Ontario, so any Canadian junior league I found... I built... PEI to BC... if you look in the history... you should see my name. Oddly, the HJHL was one of the first I found out west... Alberta and BC leagues are much easier to find than Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Quebec (which I've only found one league in so far sadly, I'm not bilingual which makes it tough). I'm actually really wondering what happened to the Calgary Jr. B League... I saw a link to it on a PEI league site... and can't find it... although it did help me find the Saskatchewan Jr. C League which has a team in Calgary and the Noralta Jr. C league which seems to be Edmonton based. DMighton 04:52, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hello, I just noticed your edits on the HJBHL... are you going to start pages with them? If not... maybe use links to their team pages that are down in the "External links" category. I'd be interested in seeing what you could do for pages though... stats... histories... championships... alumni... so on... DMighton 02:14, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- It is still in my plans, though I removed the wikilinks becuase it is still a long term project. I am working on a page for the Alberta provincials right now (will have it up tonight), and have actually found some information on the Calgary Jr B league, though not much. I still intend to do something with the HJHL teams, however. Resolute 02:29, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Good... sadly... by the time I was ready to do the Alberta provincials... I got stuff full of OHA stats to sort. Is there enough info for a Calgary Jr. B page? Are they defunct? DMighton 03:27, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Not enough, unfortunately. The league is still active, however it operates as an extension of Calgary Minor Hockey rather than an independent organization. One of their teams did with the Alberta title in 2005, however. Resolute 03:32, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

- Just saw the page. That is excellent... articles like that are why I joined this strange, strange website. DMighton 10:24, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- Since we are on the topic of Western Canadian Jr. B... I see that Airdrie and Okotoks are good enough for articles... but what is wrong with the Red Deer Vipers??? At 37-0-0-1, they aren't good enough? jk... wouldn't hurt though. I am currently puttering across a lot of the Junior articles I've created and am trying to improve them one-by-one... as well, I am researching and building OLA pages... See Brampton Excelsiors (Major League) and Owen Sound Rams... and trying to keep up to date with the OPJHL and GMHL... I've been busy... DMighton 04:08, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- Heh, I may yet to more HJHL team pages, but at this point I have been strongly focussed on improving the WHL articles. I may focus on former AJHL teams before I look at the HJHL as well. Resolute 04:15, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Victoria Cougars
There is now a specifc article about the WHL's Victoria Cougars. Please consider using Victoria Cougars (junior) when referring to the Cougars in your annual WHL season articles. Great work on them by the way. BoojiBoy 19:36, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- I will do so, thanks for the heads up. Resolute 21:11, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:SchaumburgFlyers.PNG
Thanks for uploading Image:SchaumburgFlyers.PNG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Yeah... they both definately have an agenda. Luckily, an Admin as already looked at his accusations and deemed them without weight, that they were just harrassing me to try and get rise in hope of getting what they want -- and he has already advised me on how to protect myself (not to say suggestions from the guys in the WP would hurt -- thanks by the way). I've personally reviewed the personal attacks article and unless I call both of them a "jerk" a ridiculous amount of times, use it with malicious intent, or use it as a roorback, I have not commited a personal attack. The only reason I am not responding to it openly outside of the WikiProject is that we are trying to avoid what they are trying to start... everyone in the WP knows I am a blue collar worker with my nose to the grindstone and that I don't speak up unless I absolutely believe that an injustice has been done... as long as the WP and the related Admins know my effort and goodwill, Rob and the Gerbil can stalk and follow me all they want... I will just turn the other cheek. DMighton 04:14, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

rude
In your talking about the deal or no deal article for deletion you were rude about the people who have actually put work in to the page, the contestants on the show and about the people who watch it. Also you generalise by saying that people are only interested in records. That cannot be said as it is just your opinion other people may share that opinion but not everybody.--Lucy-marie 12:09, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
I can handle criticism and constructive comments but please dont generalise when making sweeping comments and I think you were being rude over critical and inflamatory.--Lucy-marie 15:55, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Western Canada Junior C & D
Do you have any knowledge of any Junior C or D leagues east of Ontario... through Hockey Canada documents... I know they exist... but I don't know by what name... the only two I've found are the Noralta Junior Hockey League and the Saskatchewan Junior C Hockey League. DMighton 17:12, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Oops... I forgot... the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League and the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League... they are both sub-junior "b" leagues. Also, the league known as the Keystone Junior Hockey League seems to be changing its name to the Manitoba Junior B Hockey League. DMighton 18:09, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- There are many Jr C leagues around, but I doubt any are notable enough for inclusion. Due to lesser population, I think the cutoff for western Canada is about Jr B. I know that the Calgary Minor Hockey Association operates the Calgary Jr C Hockey League, but at best it would belong in an article about the association itself. I suspect most Jr C and lower leagues function similaraly. Resolute 02:48, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, well... this is to tickle my curiosity then... I want to just do article pages for the leagues with no indy pages for the teams... Could you tell about some of these leagues or where I can get the info. If it is just too pathetic... I can always JUST include them on the "Hockey Choose-Your-Province" Article. But I want to research these, you can help too if you want... but I really want to... I'm a bit of a completist... I feel disgusted thinking their are more junior leagues that I don't know about in Canada. I guess if I run out I can jump to senior some day... DMighton 03:08, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

- Interesting, thanks for doing the research. Most of those team names coincide with communities/communty associations in Calgary, so I think it is safe to assume that Calgary Jr C is not notable enough for Wikipedia. Hey. There exists an official website for the redmile. The articles psecifically lists other website, like the one for the blue mile in Edmonton. Why do you keep deleting the website reference?22:50, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- I just deleted it also - the standard for a web link is that it has to materially aid the reader in understanding the subject material of the article that contains the link. On the face of it, that site is just a big commercial. No reason to include it in an encyclopedia.Michael DoroshTalk 19:26, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Canadian cities
No city in Canada conducts its own separate official census. Cities use a variety of data to come up with their own annual estimates, but these are approximations which an encyclopedia that relies on verifiability of sources cannot treat as definitive replacements for the census. Nobody in the discussion implied that any city consciously lies about its estimates, but simply that their data-collecting methods are geared toward producing estimates. No city in Canada has ever actually done an official census-style manual count of every resident within its city limits. Even Calgary's much-vaunted cracking of the one million residents barrier earlier this summer was based on a statistical approximation of the city's birth, death, inflow and outflow rates, not an actual head count. That's why we can't treat interstitial estimates as a replacement for actual census data. Bearcat 04:47, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

- Help I want to add stats for the Broncos... but... where do they fit in? Should the SJHL Broncos have their own page do you think? Or should they be a part of the WHL Broncos page? The SJHL Broncos emerged the same year the WHL Broncos moved to Lethbridge... and lasted until the year that the WHL Broncos came back... What do you think? DMighton 01:41, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- Personally, I am to the opinion that they should be separate... but I want to know what you think... DMighton 01:45, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think it can go either way, but I tend to agree. The SJHL Broncos were definitely a distinct franchise relative to the WHL Broncos. I would probably go with what you suggest. Resolute 03:54, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- If the major junior team (WHL) has a continuous history at the highest level.. then the teams should be separate. But if the Junior team jumped to the higher level.. then those should be the same article. Flibirigit 03:56, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Founding of Flin Flon Bombers
The information in the Flin Flon Bombers article contradicts the information in the Spokane Flyers article about when the Bombers were founded. I'm sure the Bombers exists before 1967, but I do not know if they continually existed, while shifting leagues. Please let me know what you can find. Flibirigit 00:54, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- I am certain the Bombers history predates the WCHL, as my grandfather played for them in the early 50s. Whether it is continuous or not, I am not certain, and will definitely have to check it out. It is extremely likely that the Bombers predated the WCHL, and simply shifted from the SJHL like most other Saskatchewan teams did. The conflict with the Spokane Flyers exists because I used the WCHL franchise date for the Bombers rather than the team's original franchise date. I'm going to clarify that in the article. I am undecided if the infobox should say the Bombers existed from 1927 or from 1967 though. Resolute 05:44, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
POV and not a nickname
That's some pretty tough talk when a source to a major newspaper is cited saying "aka" ... - the universal prefix for a nickname The strokes 02:51, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- The "universal prefix"? A POV based opinion does not remove a POV concern. One could site any number of names that any number of players have been called at one time or another. A city, or in this case, newspaper, suffering from jilted lover syndrome does not qualify this as a nickname. Resolute 02:54, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- Where is this definition of what is a nickname and what isn't? Maybe I should have referred to it when creating the field in the template, instead of linking it to an entire Wikipedia page, whose definition is this: A nickname is a short, clever, cute, derogatory, or otherwise substitute name for a person or thing's real name ... A nickname is sometimes considered desirable, symbolising a form of acceptance, but can often be a form of ridicule. Your argument that "A city, or in this case, newspaper, suffering from jilted lover syndrome does not qualify this as a nickname" is full of holes - this article is from the Calgary Sun. The strokes 03:15, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- The article was reprinted in the Calgary Sun, but Zeisberger is not a Calgary Sun writer. It is a SunMedia story originating from another paper. Not that this is terribly relevent. I stand by my comment: just because one paper says something does not make it a nickname. In this case it should be especially obvious to anyone but someone allowing their own feelings regarding Pronger to enter the equasion. Resolute 03:54, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh, I think it's pretty relavent. You discounted something because you thought the person was being a homer, and it turns out that the person has no personal affilitation with the Oilers. One person is not saying this; the entire city of Edmonton is saying it. If this is the Resolute from HFboards, I am sure you have heard the "move over Peter Puck, move over Mike Comrie" banter over the last few months. There is always a public enemy #1 in Edmonton, and that title now belongs to Chris Pronger. This is just one article that says so, I could find more that say the same thing. The strokes 04:21, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, I discounted it because it is a POV statement, and not a nickname, exactly as I said. I am also quite aware of the opinion of Oiler fans. I've been reverting their vandalism on this article for months now. I reverted your edit because I have never ONCE heard anyone refer to Pronger regularally as "Public Enemy #1 in Edmonton", thus, IMO, is not a nickname. If anything it belongs in the main article as a cited reference to how Oiler fans feel about Pronger's trade request. Resolute 04:33, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- Isn't saying that you've "never ONCE heard ... regularly" a contradiction? Anyways, you've heard it at least once - in the article I cited. In any case, I have Edmonton's Canoe writer saying that he's public enemy #1" [4], and here's the kicker. I have Pronger HIMSELF saying he's "public enemy #1" in Edmonton [5]. And now it's "one individual" referring to someone regularly that makes it a nickname? You just keep pulling ideas out of a hat, and tossing them up as fact. - You do not own any part of Wikipedia any more than I do. Creating the template does not give you ownership of its contents, nor does it give you exclusive right to dictate what goes in it. I've tried to compromise by adding a blurb on this in the main article. If that is not good enough for you, then I suggest taking it to the community. - A nickname is something that a player becomes better known as (ie. ROCKET Richard) or what the fans chant/call him, (ie. Eddie the Eagle, CuJo, etc.). Public Enemy #1 in Edmonton does not qualify as a nickname because he is not commonly known as that, it's more of a title than anything. We could probably dig up a tonne of negative statements about many players and claim them as nicknames, but that would be stupid. -- Scorpion0422 00:21, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- Outside of Edmonton, nobody has heard of this. Flibirigit 03:54, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- That certainly does not qualify as a nickname. I've never heard of anyone calling him this until today. Some journalist making light of the fact that he is unpopular in Edmonton does not mean that "Public Enemy #1" is his alias. DMighton 06:03, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- Outside of Edmonton, nobody has heard of this. Flibirigit 03:54, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
This is a completely absurd issue. There are exactly 23 Google hits for "public enemy #1" and "Pronger," and almost all of those either are from random blogs or do not refer to Pronger at all. That wouldn't remotely pass muster in any AfD discussion. Furthermore, The strokes may find it well worth his while to review the requirements of WP:BIO regarding the positive duty of Wikipedia editors to aggressively delete spurious derogatory material concerning living persons, and WP:OWN generally. Looks like he's tripped over Godwin's Law as well. To paraphrase Samuel Johnson, screeching about "XNazis" is the last refuge of someone who's losing the argument. RGTraynor 07:07, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- Andddd ... while this is unrelated, isn't it really high time that sports fans stopped acting like 3-year-old brats when a player jumps ship? Are Edmonton fans apologizing for signing Petr Sykora as a free agent? How about Steve Staios? Sheesh, the Oilers traded Pronger, last I noticed, and got respectable value for him. RGTraynor 07:20, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- Oh give me a break. First, the Rangers were not going to brink Sykora back. Since when is re-signing your own free agent against the rules? What is against the rules is signing a contract, then breaking it, which is what Pronger did, and if you have a problem with Oilers fans getting upset that Pronger, or whoever else screws them, then maybe it's you who should stop acting like a 3-year old. Do you know why comrie gets booed? He slept with Tommy Salo's wife. Do you know why Doug Weight gets booed? He said he would only accept a trade to St. Louis or Detroit. Do you know why Chris Pronger will be booed? His leaving broke up a contending team. Not only himself, but also Jaroslav Spacek, who left because he did. He said "the team will not be the same" as part of the reason why he accepted less money to sign with the Sabres.
And RGTraynor, while you're doing Google searches, try doing a search for Wikinazi. It's just an expression. Also, if you took time to actually read my edit, you would see these three references, to news sources (not blogs/whatever you're on about). [6][7][8]. Oh, and here's ANOTHER one from today [9]. That's 4 without me breaking a sweat. Just ask it you need more.
Resolute, first of all calm down. No one owns parts of wikipedia. I created this template for oilers players, and then someone wanted me to expand it to be used for all NHL players, then someone wanted me to expand it to be used for all hockey players everywhere. If I wanted to keep it for my own use I wouldn't have done so. The strokes 14:43, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Four whole reporters using the turn of phrase? Just four? Come back to us when you have four hundred cites. John Bucyk's been retired nearly 30 years and his nickname has 350 hits. Geez, Gary "Suitcase" Smith has over 200 hits. That aside, your intentionally offensive use of the term "Wikinazi" for those who oppose your POV remains offensive, well known expression or otherwise. Were I to call you a "m*****f*****", I imagine you'd be offended, however much the term has nearly 1.5 million Google hits. Finally, your arguments are much better suited to a blog or a hockey bulletin board. I'm sure you'll have little problem promulgating your crusade on such a forum, but until such a change becomes generally accepted and documented amongst the wider public, it remains unencyclopedic. RGTraynor 05:58, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Pronger discussion
- Actually, Pronger never broke his contract. He requested a trade, which the Oilers granted. There is no indication that he did, or would have, violated his agreement in any way. Resolute 17:13, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Oh really? Then why did the Prongers sell their house in Terwillegar mid-playoffs? This is why people can't understand why oilers fans boo former players - they're uninformed. And it's probably not their fault either. The eastern media bias in this country does their best to kick edmonton while they're down. Pronger was gone - he would have sat in mexico for 4 years waiting for Lowe to deal him. The strokes 18:56, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Believe me, I am well aware of the situation, and why Oiler fans are so upset. I've never once gotten on the case of an Oiler fan for being upset at Pronger. In the context of Wikipedia, however, random means of expressing that frustration almost always violate the site's policies.

- The fact is, you dont know what Pronger would have done had Lowe not traded him. He most certantly did not break his contract before the trade, so your statement is patently false, and thoughts on what he would have done if still an Oiler at the start of this season are the same type of baseless speculation as that of why he (or she) requested the trade in the first place. Most fans - even Flames fans like myself - can sympathize with Oiler fans over what Pronger did. But the fact is, he wasnt the first player to ever request a trade, and he wont be the last. He certantly doesnt fit in the same category as guys like Alexei Yashin and Doug Gilmour, who did break their contracts. Resolute 20:28, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, you are right in that he did not break the contract. But you can't deny that he had every intention to, given the opportunity. The fact that lowe didn't want to waste 6.25M in cap space per year, plus have no Pronger/Pronger trade return to start the season shouldn't mean he is any better than Yashin. Yashin asked for a trade, and was told to suit up for the season, which he didn't do the first time 'round. Pronger wasn't asked to suit up, because lowe has experience with holdouts, and knew he'd be better off just to move on ASAP - turn over a new leaf. That shouldn't make pronger any better than Yashin, because by all accounts, he was not going to even live in the city this year. He had no house! This is not "baseless speculation" - this part is fact. The speculation, if any, is that the player with no house in his team's city, is not going to play for said team in the upcoming season. Is that not reasonable? The strokes 22:19, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

NHL Team Season Articles
I like your idea about making a page for NHL team's individual seasons (I found this out from The strokes). And I would like to help you out by doing the web page for the Los Angeles Kings. Is that alright? Ksy92003 20:46, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will work hard to get as much information as I can. After I conclude the Kings 2006-07 season done, I will start working on other teams as well, with your permission. By the way, click here to go to the page that I am currently working on about the Los Angeles Kings 2006-07 season. Ksy92003 23:09, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. I was just on there, editing that page, and I noticed at the bottom that a category had been added on there. I didn't think that I had done that, and I wasn't aware that it was you until about 15 minutes later. So thanks for your assistance. Ksy92003 05:21, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Also, I started working on the page for the Buffalo Sabres. Click here to check out this page. Make any and all changes you feel necessary. The other information I'll try to get up as soon as I possibly can. Ksy92003 06:41, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- I have completed most of everything for the Buffalo Sabres season. If you wish to view my work, click here. For both that one and my Los Angeles Kings seaon article, I have done one thing different than what you did for your 2006-07 Calgary Flames season article in the game logs. For that, I felt that it would be better to only show the team's upcoming games (usually their next 5 games, including records and the outcome of the previous meeting) as this would be easier for readers of the article to understand. I've added an external link to the team website and cited my sources for the draft picks for both articles. Again, feel free to check out those sites. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to work on these articles. Ksy92003 16:09, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- The template for all teams is a good idea. Also, the main reason for me doing the upcoming games was because it would've taken me a long time to get the full schedule on there. I am relatively new to editing Wikipedia, so I just went with the shortest way that I knew how to do. If you wish to edit that and put the full team schedule in there, feel free to do so.
- I think we should get a couple people for every team to work on that page. It would be easier if we only have to focus on our local team, and it would be nice if we could get the season for all 30 teams up. I am from Long Beach, California, and the Los Angeles Kings are my local team. I was also thinking about doing the page for the Anaheim Ducks at a later date. The reason why I also did the Buffalo Sabres page was because they are such a good team also and I wanted to get their page up as quickly as I could. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ksy92003 (talk • contribs) 18:38, 9 December 2006 (UTC).
I hope so. This was a really good idea you have, and I can't wait until we have a good page for every team. Perhaps later this weekend, I will begin working on the pages for the Anaheim Ducks and conclude my editing of the Draft Picks for the Buffalo Sabres

Hello, Resolute. I see you've been in discussion with the same Die-Hard Flames fan/One tracked mind anon-user, that I've been arguing with. Could you explain, to him what Co-Captain means & Alternate Captain means. Please & Thank you. GoodDay 03:52, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm getting dangerously close to the 3-Revert rule. I'm thinking of reaching a compromise with the anon-user. As he & I both have sources backing our argument. GoodDay 03:57, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Resolute. As the anon-user & I have reached the 3-edit limit. Would you do the honours of adding to the Flames article the following compromise edit: McDonald, Peplinski & Hunter, 1988-89 (tri-captains), with a Note to the dispute over Hunter's tri-captaincy? Thanks. GoodDay 04:27, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

WCHL vs. WOJHL
Hey, I've been doing some extensive research on the Southern Ontario Junior A Hockey League. For two seasons, 1968-69 and 1969-70, they were a renegade league called the Western Ontario Junior A Hockey League. I was reading that during at least one of those two seasons the champions of the WOJHL and the WCHL faced off in a National title game. Ever heard of this? If not, could you look into it... the WHL still exists, the SOJHL doesn't... lol. If you have, could you please shed some light? DMighton 22:39, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- It would appear that the WHL doesnt consider this a very important event, as it was never mentioned in the WHL's history articles (which havent been brought back online since whl.ca was redesigned), and the media guide makes no mention of it. The Flin Flon Bombers website makes no mention if it either. It might have just been something done between the two teams without the involvement of the leagues? Resolute 23:51, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Royals
I see that you are pulling apart the Royal article... I hope you will be at least putting those stats I compiled on to the other pages... Spurs, Chinooks, Red Devils and all that... DMighton 23:28, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks man ;)... I'm gonna try to do stats for some of the other defunct teams too... like the Rustlers and Mount Royal and all that. Do you have any idea if the Mount Royal College Junior "A" team is separate from the College team? Do we even have articles for Canadian College or University hockey teams or leagues? HockeyDB has tons of stats for it. DMighton 23:38, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
CIS Hockey
I think I am going to start building a CIS Hockey article.. and then a OUA Article... as well as the teams... I'll probably start with the Windsor Lancer and Guelph Gryphons as they are my two local teams. Do you know where we can find some good stats for CCAA Hockey? DMighton 04:41, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- BTW, what kind of suffix should be used, do you think, for teams that have both men's and women's teams?
- ex: Windsor Lancers (men's ice hockey)
- any other ideas or does that sound good? I have found CIS Standings from 1995 to present, but no CCAA. DMighton 04:47, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

2002-03 Calgary Flames Season
Hey, just letting you know of an error in the Calgary Flames 2002-03 Season page. Under trades, you have listed that Chris Drury and Marc Savard were traded to Calgary from Colorado. Marc Savard was not part of this trade, and was never a Colorado Avalanche. The player included with Chris Drury was in fact Stephane Yelle. Just letting you know, and I have fixed this error.--24.66.200.193 11:11, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

If an admin disagrees with me that it is a speedy candidate, I will accept that decision. Are there multiple, non-trivial reliable sources that would establish the site's notability? List of traditional filipino games
Hi.. i need to change the title as the word 'traditional' is spelled incorrectly, could you help me? thanks! katZ 03 00:14, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- Not a problem. At the top of the article page, you will see a Move option. You can simply click on that link, and the new page will give you the option to move the article to a new title. You can correct the spelling mistake in this fashion. The resulting move will turn the old title into a redirect to the new article, which is not an issue. Hope this helps. MLB season articles
Hi. I understand the concept of what you're doing with edits like this but the reality is that 2005 in baseball and 2005 MLB season share far too much content to be separate articles right now. They need to be merged somewhere ASAP. Otherwise, large chunks of content will be added to one article by one person and to the other article by another person and merging will become more and more difficult. I have no problem splitting them if there's enough content for both articles but I'd prefer that a plan for the split be in place before the split occurs. Let me know what you think. —Wknight94 (talk) 12:22, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

What Game 6?
I'm not a big hockey fan (or I'd probably already know what you're talking about), but which Game 6 are you referring to? I was intrigued. 74.12.200.51
- Game six of the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals. Gelinas had a puck deflect off his skate late in the third period of a tie game, that from at least one angle suggested the puck had crossed the goal line before Tampa's goalie pulled the puck out. The play was never reviewed at the time, though the league tried to claim it was (impossible for a proper review to have taken place given the short time between the apparent goal and when the next faceoff occured). The Lightning went on to beat Calgary in overtime, then went on to win game seven. Resolute 05:05, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Western Major Junior Championship
We don't seem to have an article for the Monseigneur Athol Murray Trophy which was the Western Canada Major Junior Championship post 1970... until I do not know when. Any thoughts? DMighton 13:11, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- I honestly don't think it was ever awarded. Hockey Canada's history section of their by-laws guide [10] says that the Athol Murray Trophy was to be awarded to the champions of Western Canada - however since there is only one league in Western Canada, the President's Cup (WHL) seems to have taken precidence. It's companion trophy, the George Richardson Memorial Trophy appears to have no longer been awarded after 1972, suggesting the concept was abandoned when the Memorial Cup tournament went to three teams. I can't confirm it, but I doubt the trophy was ever actually awarded. Its concept might make a decent mention on the Hockey Canada article in a section regarding the realignment of junior hockey in 1970 though. Resolute 16:31, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

I havent added defunct Jr A teams on any other article, but many of these OHA Jr A teams were the highest level of Junior hockey at the time, I believe, so should be added as being equivalent of Major-Junior. However, that will likely make this a really long list. It might make sense to split the article into two: active and defunct as I did with the baseball lists. I would suggest expanding the defunct teams and seeing how long the article gets, then deciding from there. If we hope to get it to featured list status, as I would like for all, then we can't use the template as a part of the article itself. Resolute 03:10, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Hello, Resolute. On Talk: Calgary Flames, I had (months ago) been in an argument with an anon-user about the Flames captaincy in 1988-89 season. My point was McDonald & Peplinski were co-captains, Tim Hunter alternate captain. The anon user's point was McDonald, Peplinski & Hunter were tri-captains. We both came up with conflicting sources. Though a compromise was reached (on the Flames page), I still think I'm correct. Think you could convince that anon-user? PS- I'm checking out, Infobox proposals. GoodDay 21:07, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- The section in talk: Calgary Flames was 'Tim Hunter'. The disagreeing anon-user 24.66.200.193. GoodDay 21:19, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- At the risk of reopening the edit war, I've gone ahead and removed Hunter, as you are absolutely correct. I've also added a citation to the Flames Media Guide, which, frankly, should trump most other sources. The Flames themselves did not consider Hunter a captain on that team, but an alternate captain. Resolute 21:25, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. By the way, it's two (us) against one (anon user), that makes it a consensus (in our favour). I'll be keeping an eye on the Calgary Flames page. GoodDay 21:32, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Salk School of Science
Hi,
I noticed that you contributed to the AfD debate on this school. I have made a contribution to this debate in which I discuss why the school is notable, and edited the article a bit. Any comments you could make would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your help with this.

Hi Resolute,
I agree that this subject does not seem notable. It doesn't seem notable to me either. But according to wikipedia guidlines, notability is not subjective and the subject's inclusion in the multiple, independent, reliable published sources does satisfy the current criteria. Requiring that Ashley Leitao be included in sources that establish her notability separate from the Canadian Idol show is an additional requirement that I don't see anywhere in Wikipedia policy or guidelines. Also, you say that failed game show contestants are not notable. Usually they are not because they don't satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for notability, but this subject does. My vote for "keep" is in line with current guidelines, but several other editors along with me have the same reservations as you do about how these guidelines apply to reality show contestants. A discussion has been started at User_talk:Ohconfucius#Ashley_Leitao to come up with something that we could propose to the larger community for an amendment to the notability guidelines. If you have any ideas how we could identify types of people who must meet stronger standards for notability than is currently required by the guideline, please feel free to contribute to the discussion. Thank you for making a report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Removing and reporting vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them again to the AIV noticeboard. Thanks. PS - last warning was given on 2/6, vandalism occurred on 2/8. I gave a 4im level warning, so if the IP user vandalizes again today, s/he will be blocked. Thanks for keeping an eye on wiki! -- Avi 15:19, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Logos on NHL Season-by-Team articles?
Someone recently posted to the talk page of the 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres page asking about adding the team's logo to the page. I would like to see the logo on the page myself, but I ask whether or not such an addition would violate Fair Use. I really don't know, and I don't want to add it if it will. Please guide, if you can. Thanks! Skudrafan1 04:23, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- I added my comments. Personally, I think it would be fair use this year, as the article discusses the new logo, but would not qualify for previous or future seasons. Resolute 04:53, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Please reexamine the page for Gomes Elementary School. I believe that this article now has proper assertion of notability, as well as other useful details which have all been clearly referenced. Thank You. Sukh17 20:46, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Peter Maher
Maher isn't in the HHOF. It's that simple. You way wish that he was, you may want to write a letter to the HHOF asking him to be inducted, you may think it's a travesty that he isn't ... none of which changes the fact that he is not in the HHOF. If you want to change the section header so that it would include people other than HHOF inductees, then that's something you can discuss with the Wikipedia community (or just make the changes and see if anyone challenges them). But as it is, the section is for hall of famers, and your personal opinion that someone who received an award from the HHOF should also be included is just that -- your personal opinion -- and not something you should try to pass as fact or as a consensus reached by the Wikipedians. --Walor 17:13, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

NHL season template
Hi! I was wondering if you could possibly make the conferance syntax optional or add a league syntax. I tried to add this template to a non NHL team season page but it didn't display league. With a league syntax this template could be used for many more leagues and former leagues as the WHA. Thanks. --Krm500 14:14, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'll see what I can do. I don't want to make that template overly large or complex (moreso than it already is), so it might be best to copy it to a new template, remove the NHL specific stuff and add in more general syntax for a wider variety of leagues. Resolute 16:53, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

- Aside from the fact that you very clearly did not create that image, thus have an invalid claim to release it to the public domain, you have uploaded it as a means to disparage the subject, as confirmed by your other edits. I would suggest that you read Wikipedia's policies on vandalism, and look to add constructively to the project, rather than destructively. Resolute 06:03, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

2005-06 Calgary Flames season
I was just getting some work done on the corresponding Canucks season article by copying the Flames article and noticed something. On the player stats seciton, at the bottom of it is a list called All Traded Players. I just want to clarify what that represents. As I see it, it is the cumalative totals of all the players the Flames traded over the season. Thanks. Kaiser matias 04:40, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, that is what it represents. I've been using the Flames Media Guide as my primary source for the player stats, and it piles all of the departed players together into the All Traded Players category. I may expand that later, but for now felt that was adequate. Resolute 13:27, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks. I gathered the role wasn't of key importance, as there would otherwise be a greater number of biographies to draw from if he was an important member of the Kings council. In this case, this Arbuthnot seems to barely gain notability via quantity of achievements rather than the quality of them. He's a marginal keep at best, but I don't feel terribly inclined to change my vote again on this AfD. Thanks, Resolute 13:30, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Greetings, you raised a concern on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Walid Said Bin Said Zaid. I replied by trying to draw your attention to a reply I drafted the last time I was asked this question, here.
- I'd be very grateful if you would acknowledge you were aware I replied to your concern.
- I'd be very grateful if you told me whether you took the time to read my reply to the concern you raised.
- And I would be very grateful if you let me know whether you formed your opinion of the article after reading the ten factors for and against Said Zaid's continued detention.
Cheers! Geo Swan 06:46, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I have read your argument, and no, I still do not find it changes my mind. I did not define what type of prisoner Walid Said Bin Said Zaid was, I stated that simply being a prisoner is no sign of notability. Only the lead statement of that article is about Walid, the rest of the article reads like an essay that has questionable relevance in a biography. IMO, there is no assertion of notability for this individual, thus I maintain my delete vote. Regards, Resolute 13:31, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Lethbridgehurricanes.GIF. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:07, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Montreal Expos merge tag
Hi. I have restored the merge tag. Although I personally do not favour the proposed merge, a merge has been proposed, and the discussion is ongoing. The tag does not mean that there is consensus for a merge, simply that a merge has been proposed. As per WP:MERGE, the use of the tag is appropriate. Given the many many times this issue has been raised over the past few years, and the numerous editors who have spoken in favour of the merger in the past, it is premature to state at this stage that there is "[c]learly no consensus for a merge", especially since the merger was proposed less than a week ago. This is not a WP:SNOW situation, and the use of the merge tag does not depend on the state of the discussion on the talk page. The tag should be removed when the discussion has been closed (which I hope will be, mercifully, soon). Skeezix1000 17:39, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- I guess I would just add this: as you can see Talk:Montreal Expos#Previous merge discussions, this debate has been going in mind-numbing circles for a few years now, despite the clear consensus in the 2005 AfD discussion. Let's just do this current debate properly -- give notice, allow for proper consultation -- so that at the end, assuming that the consensus is to maintain the separate Expos article (which I assume it will), we can have some degree of finality to this debate. We can't stop people from raising the issue again in the future, but at least then we would have two formal processes (one AfD, one Merge), both of which rejected a merge, that we could point to. Skeezix1000 18:54, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- Got your comment. Thanks. I know what you're saying. WalterWalnuts, or whatever his name is, has rubbed me the wrong way, especially his comments along the line of "I am going to fight this until the page gets merged". But, to be fair, he is (now) proposing something different than the 2005 AfD, and all the talk page comments since 2005 suggest that he is not the only user who feels a merger is appropriate. I'm tired of this debate, esp. when the arguments in favour of the merger are so ridiculous, so I agree that it does seem a bit abusive to be raising it AGAIN. But let it play out, let's get the consensus we need, and then it will be much easier dealing with the WalterWalnuts of the future. Skeezix1000 19:05, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's been more than a week, and as you predicted, there is clearly no consensus for a merge. Can you think of an editor that we could call on (who has not participated in the discussion) to step in and close the discussion? Skeezix1000 13:49, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Current news
Is this something that was reached at WP:HOCKEY? I remember being told that all of them should be hidden till the season starts or at least till we're close to the season starting (excluding draft and the such). Or is this something that you see as being part of the season where as some of the other editors don't agree. I really don't care that much either way, only reason I hid it was because most of the other teams have it hidden as well. Bringing this up at WP:HOCKEY probably isn't a good idea right now, anyway...still some stuff that needs to be settled that it seems hasn't been, or it's at least not clear. Also, do you mind if I make some edits at List of Calgary Flames players? I know you're currently working on it and some editors extrememly dis-like when people come in and do something to a work-in-progress, so I figured I'd ask first. I'll try to do it at times where an edit conflict will definitely not occur, if that's alright with you. BsroiaadnTalk 05:58, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- If there was a discussion, I haven't seen it either...I just assumed when I was told and when people went through hiding them that there was one and I was too busy to check at the time. And nah, I'll leave it, that reason does make a lot of sense. Alright, thanks. I know how that is, man. I hope everything works out and goes well, or as well as it can go. Hart Trophy
In response to your suggestion, I have added as many free use images of the winners as I could find. Although I added a few too many and I'll have to remove about four. -- Scorpion0422 02:32, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Noticed your vote earlier. There are other Afd debates there, where minor leaguers are nominated for deletion.--Truest blue 23:45, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Hello WikiProject Ice Hockey/Participant
I am an advisor to the National Hockey League. With your help over the next few months I plan to review and correct any information on wikipedia relating to the National Hockey League, its franchises, players, executives and partership organisations. I am here to provide you with information. Your work is appreciated. --NHLsource 18:15, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Adminship
Hey Resolute, I have a question for you. Are you interested in becoming an administrator? I see no reason why you wouldn't make it (in case you didn't know I am one), you've been here almost as long as I have... you've got the good edit count in all the right places, and I've never noticed you being uncivil. Let me know if your interested and I'll put forward a nomination for you. Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 23:11, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Alright, well I'll try and get that nomination in sometime tomorrow afternoon, I don't think i'll be able to get any kind of decent nom done in time tonight as I should pack it in soon, but good to know your interested and we'll see how you do. - Good answers, I think the nom looks good and I would be utterly shocked if you aren't accepted. Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 21:35, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hey no problem at all, you deserve it... successful RFA's make you feel the best about editing on Wikipedia... and you answered all your questions well and no one has dug up any dirt on you as of yet (which is impressive, because there are a few voters who are like sharks, they just pounce on the worst of the people), but I don't think they'll find anything. Cheers from Ontario, mate! Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 01:17, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

RFA
Congratulations! You are close to becoming an administrator. You have a lot of support and little or no opposition!
I did add a question. If you answer this well, this can only help more flock to you and support you! You don't need me to help you answer it but if you really want possible answers, just ask me. WKPDX 02:55, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi
Recently, you said that this material should be Speedily deleted here. However, an editor has come along, removed the copyright violations, sourced the article, and reduced to a stub. As such, your further input, considering the changes, would be highly valued, and your comment on whether you endorse his motion to close the debate or not would also be excellent. Regards -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 09:10, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks anyway, but it has been decided that, since the copvio has been removed, the article should not be deleted. -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 22:34, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the update. I would have happily withdrawn my !vote had the AfD not already been closed. Cheers, Resolute 06:21, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
National Hockey League awards
Hi, I noticed that you will be working on National Hockey League awards, which will be tricky. I think it would be best to turn it into a chart because it is MUCH easier to pass an FL than an FA. It also wouldn't hurt to include an image of each trophy (you can make an image column on a chart, like this). Either way, it's your call. -- Scorpion0422 00:27, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well, as part of another FT I'm working on, someone (not me) made this page, which summarizes the topic and is a current FLC (I think it is heading towards a pass) so you could start with that and make the columns: Award/Trophy, Criteria, Year it was first awarded (better title needed), Recent Winner(s). The images are optional, but in the WWE champions page, it used to have an image of each champion, but somebody in the FLC requested that they be remove. So, perhaps it would be best to avoid the individual images. Again, it's your call. -- Scorpion0422 00:34, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Deletion log history
Hey Resolute!
I was perusing your deletion logs, and you're doing a fine job in deleting speedy pages. The only thing that I'd advise you on is to fill in the deletion summary with more than just what's automatically in the box for speedy pages. The reason for this is that you may accidentally leave the text of a copyright vio or an attack page in the deletion summary and thus in the deletion log. Only a dev can alter the deletion log, so it's better safe than sorry and now's the time to start building good habits. There are a couple scripts available that'll provide a drop down summary option.
Keep up the good work! Keegantalk 04:46, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Archiving request
Hi! I'm one of the WP:HOCKEY/SWEDEN editors.
Firstly, just wanted to say grats to the adminship (is it a cyberspaceship?). Respect. :)
Also, I would like to politely request - you or someone else more experienced than me - to create Archive13 for WT:HOCKEY (or Archive14 if the project is superstitious). Talkpage has grown a lot since last time (see table. I know how to do tables anyway...) and I guess some old topics should be cleaned at least when talkpage is twice the size of its largest archive page. I would do the process myself, but I'm not really sure how just yet, and the talk page is getting painfully slow on my old system. Didn't really want to post this to the project talkpage itself. Whenever you have the time. Or, forward it to someone else if not. And thanks, either way!
Talkpage | topics | kB |
---|---|---|
Archive1 | 23 | 64 |
Archive2 | 43 | 89 |
Archive3 | 48 | 94 |
Archive4 | 36 | 81 |
Archive5 | 58 | 113 |
Archive6 | 30 | 47 |
Archive7 | 26 | 29 |
Archive8 | 31 | 64 |
Archive9 | 45 | 77 |
Archive10 | 41 | 77 |
Archive11 | 34 | 114 |
Archive12 | 25 | 91 |
WT:HOCKEY | 79 | 228 |
Humbly,
-- Bamsefar75 00:29, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well done. :) I noticed that IrisKawling had added more to Archive12 despite the latest page being Archive14. I think I managed to move it to Archive14 instead where it chronologically belongs. --Bamsefar75 16:33, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Woodland Stewards Article
In response to your note regarding the lack of notability, in comparing the article to others of a similar nature, I noticed there appeared to be no such information within those articles. How do I establish the needed notability within the article?

The Puppetmastaz
Why, instead of speedy deleting "The Puppetmastaz" stub, didn't you just drop a warning on my talk page, and then delete it in... say two days instead of the few hours when I was sleeping ? The band is very notable, in fact I wrote the stub because of an article in a nationwide newspaper in my country (France) that mentionned them as very notable, which hardily seems the case for all obscure bands mentionned in wikipedia ... So, please indicate me how I should recreate the page to conform with wikipedia's policy because I am a bit puzzled. Pointing to a verifiable source on why they are notable directly in the first revision would be enough or not ? Please answer on my own talk page, thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Donvinzk (talk • contribs) 05:41, August 27, 2007 (UTC)
I do not want to engage in a long discussion about the functionning of Wikipedia since you are more an expert than me on the matter. However, may I point out that the introduction of the Criteria Policy for Speedy Deletion" page you cited mention: "Before nominating an article for speedy deletion, consider whether it could be improved or reduced to a stub; if so, speedy deletion is probably inappropriate. Contributors sometimes create articles over several edits, so try to avoid deleting a page too soon after its creation if it appears incomplete. Users nominating a page for speedy deletion should specify which criteria the page meets, and consider notifying the page's creator.". None of which you have done, have you ? Plus, I am not creating a page about the minor band in the neighbourhood: the german wikipedia already as a page on them. Your doubts about the incompleteness of my articles were funded (hence the stub tag), and I thank you for pointing on them. I will adress the issues so the article may have a clean start. NHL team seasons
Hey Resolute, I just finshed 2005-06 Detroit Red Wings season and was hoping you could look at it and see if it fits with your format or the consensus reached at Wikiproject Ice Hockey. Deleted entry
Hello,
Recently you deleted an entry that was made.
03:21, 6 September 2007 Resolute (Talk | contribs) deleted "Notice (band)" (CSD A7 - no assertion of notability)
No assertion of importance/significance. An article about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content that does not state why its subject is important or significant.
I would think that your page while interesting to you and those who check out your information is no more important and significant than someone else’s entry about a project that they were working on. I look forward to hearing your reply to this and would hope that if you didn’t think something or someone isn’t relevant you would merely move on rather than remove what they considered to be important or significant.
Thanks for your time, Bill
WOW! Take a look at this mess! I think she is borderline notable, but this needs to be cleaned up. What do you think? Flibirigit 21:25, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Flames players
Congrats, by the way, on finishing up all of the Calgary Flames players. As hockey is gearing up, I was thinking of picking away at the list (e.g. Kevin Wortman), but you did it much faster. Good job. -- JamesTeterenko 05:00, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I was wondering what your status was with the project. We are very close - there are only 3 unclaimed articles left - and if we all work at it, we could be ready for an FTC by November. Thanks for the time, Scorpion0422 22:47, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Just a quick question, I'm not very well-versed in team lineages, but I have been working on the O'Brien Trophy, and the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blue Shirts, St. Pats AND Arenas all won the Trophy, so for the Win# column, should they all be combined, or listed seperately.
