[edit]You seem to be making large edits on Indo-Aryan Migration. Could you discuss these on the Talk page while you make them? It's easier to follow changes and their rationales that way. Thanks. CRCulver 00:24, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
Please watch the edits of user Yeditor on caste article. I see that you've had problems with his unreferenced pov in the vishnu article. I have gone to considerable lengths to balance the caste article and am still working on completing it with references and such, and he vandalised it mercilesly. I have reverted his changes, but, based on the vitriol in his edit summaries (see history page) it is clear that he is extremely biased and needs to be monitored. I am convinced that (I have seen this type of pattern before) he is on his way to violating 3RR rule and vandalize it further. I'd be very grateful if you (in addition to myself) would please monitor the article. In case you disagree with any of my edits, please mention it in the talk page and we can discuss amicably and arrive at a suitable compromise if need be. Thanks.Netaji 09:18, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
I've gotta say, you've done a lot of work on the above article! Nice job. — riana_dzasta • t • c • e • ER • 02:15, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments about History of metallurgy in South Asia. I'm glad you liked the article. It could still need some expansion by someone more knowledgeable than me. --RF 10:51, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hmmm... have you considered joining the Indian history WikiProject? You can collaborate with other users there, and maybe ask people to help contribute to the article. Regards, — riana_dzasta • t • c • e • ER • 10:49, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion. I'm planning to reduce my wiki time, so joining a wiki project may not be the right thing to do in this case. --RF 10:59, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- I see—yes, I'm always saying I want to reduce my wiki time, but it never quite happens :) Here's hoping you have more will-power than me, — riana_dzasta • t • c • e • ER • 11:07, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Please do not re-direct the pages without understanding. Please do not think that you are helping out by such moves. Unnecessary re-directions tantamounts to vandalizing and disruption, and may result into blocks. --Bhadani 13:32, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- You are perhaps trying to do something basing your views on what you read in wikipedia - and that is the problem that we are failing in our task. I would request you to please do not make wikipedia to de-generate to a level of absolute foolishness. --Bhadani 13:40, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- I do not understand the link between a horse as decribed in Hindu mythology, and the history of horses in South Asia. Really funny! Are you here for fun or for the serious business of building the Project? --Bhadani 13:43, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
I think you understood the difference. My intention was not to mean offence or hurt anyone. Yes, I do know that we have a number of redundant pages which requires merger and re-direction, etc. Please continue the good work, and a big Cheers! --Bhadani 13:52, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Indophobia
[edit]As fate would have it I got a phone call from the book shop just a couple of hours ago to say that the copy of Trautmann's book I ordered has come in. I am off to collect it, so will get back with the details this evening. Paul B 11:52, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the link. I am of course aware of the historical material, having read Macaulay's writings and Mill's book - as well as many tedious evangelical tracts about "Juggernaut" etc (Philip Goss is particularly charming), but the summary seems to ignore the fact that while Romantic Indomania faded, the Orientalist tradition was still influential, and by the end of the nineteenth century the prestige of Tagore, the emegence of the Bengal School of Art, Theosophy and other movements produced powerful pro-Indian attitudes too. Anyway, I will see what Trautmann says. Paul B 12:00, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Just an update: - I hadn't noticed that you were referring to Trautmann's older book, not his latest one (the one I ordered). I read it a few years ago, but don't have my own copy. I will look at the local library's copy it later in the week. Paul B 12:34, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

chariot image
[edit]yes, the image is compiled from various sources. they should all be discussed in the chariot article, I drew the image as a summary of the information listed there. Obviously, the dates and "isochrones" are not intended to be exact. They give a rough idea, give or take a century. dab (ᛏ) 20:26, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Created stub, please expand. Thanks RaveenS
Please remove the unwarranted db tag. I made it because Poverty in Pakistan is a major issue, but another user said its "making wiki a battleground between Indian and Pakistani editors". Its only a battleground because PAkistani users are not accepting the fact Pakistan is dirt poor 36% poor.Bakaman Bakatalk 22:57, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

pillar.
[edit]I havent reverted all his edits. I shall explain some of my changes. Please point out where you feel that i am wrong.
- it is still a curiosity since it hasnt been found yet that how was it made. the theory by Bala is just a theisis and not a accepted method.
- Similar quality product has never been made.
- If it was brought to this location by Illututmish, then all the cited current information on the article is proved wrong. If you want to say that it was brought by illututmish, then you must provide a better reference then the current one (which says it was built by an Gupta emperor in the ex-temple complex located on the site)
- see below line9 in my revert. There was no point in saying by Balasubramaniam of IIT Kanpur .
- If you look at the pillar even in the image, the idol at the top is of Garuda. He definitely confused it for some of the Ashoka's pillars, which have a chakra on top.
Anyways waiting for your reply.nids(♂) 16:52, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Aryan race
[edit]I notice you have added a merger tag to the Indian nationalism section. Personally I don't think this should be here at all. It was added by Nobleeagle, and I didn't want to delete it because I didn't want to be accused of suppressing Indian views. But I really don't see that the idea of an Aryan race exists much in Indian nationalism, which usually tends to emphasise the unity of Indians as a whole. Paul B 12:32, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Pani
[edit]Pani has been proposed for deletion. An editor felt the subject might not be notable enough for an article. Please review Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability for the relevant concerns. An example of notability guidelines can be found at Wikipedia:Notability (websites). If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so.
If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the "prod" notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod notice, the deletion process will stop, but if an editor is still not satisfied that the article meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for consensus. Please Don't Leave Bogus Warning Messages on my Talk Page!!
[edit]Please don't leave bogus warning messages on my talk page. I didn't delete references, I removed references that explicitly POV, that are not considered mainstream even by a long shot and that are a part of the explicit agenda of the Out-of-India revisionist movement coming out of India. AIT/AMT
[edit]Thanks for explaining on my talk page. The reason I raised this issue with Dab is because he has argued at other places that mainstream has moved to "migration" or "complex trickling" as Witzel says and has said that AMT opponets are creating "straw man" of invasion. Now on AMT page, Dab is defending "invasion" scenario. Also, Dab has done lots on OR in the article, that is what I am trying to tag and get cleaned up.Sbhushan 22:45, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi
[edit]I see that you have had a pleasent interaction with my dear friend fowler there as well. Fowler (and Dab) do need closer attention. Unfortunately, that'll have to wait as my exams begin in about a week and I have to wrap up unfinished projects before I become inactive. Anyways, Thanks for inviting me to the chat; I would have loved providing citations for this particular topic (since it draws too much from selective citations) and actively participating in the improvement process but I'm hopelessly tied down.
Best wishes,

RF, I am somewhat disturbed that you seem to be tending towards an outlook on Wikipedia comparable to that of Sbhushan or Freedomskies (that is, complete and surreal cuckoo-cloud nonsense), but your implied notion of "mainstream" does nothing to dispel the impression; I seem to remember you as a bona fide editor, and it would be disappointing to see you join the ranks of our resident trolling-continuum which make the semiprotections you bemoan a necessity in the first place. If I were not inhibited as being involved, acting as an admin only, I would permaban nonsensical accounts like Sbhushan's without much ado. "content disputes" are all very well, but they require a certain basic coherence and common ground (WP:ENC) which is utterly absent in Sbhushan (not necessarily alleging bad faith) dab (𒁳) 13:56, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- Interesting comment since Dab is providing unverifiable content and doing original research. I am providing verifiable, relevent content from the authors that Dab says he used to create the article. It should be Dab reading the WP:ENC. Dab has no understanding of WP:ATT, which is core policy of Wikipedia. He can not provide a single edits that I have done since my time on WP that is not properly sourced. On other hand I can not find a single edit by Dab that has correct citation. On rare occasion that he does provide citation, it turn out that his summary is misrepresentation of authors position.Sbhushan 15:33, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
re: your note
[edit]Rayfield, I am having some difficulty understanding your note. I have not editted any article since the block, so why would you say that I should be blocked again. Keep in mind I did not make any committment to Dab, I am still honuring it.
Re: edit waring with Dab, did you also look at the fact that I am the one who has tried to pursue mediation by Third party, mediantion cabal and request to other editors on Indo-Aryan Migration board. Please also see other editors on Indigenous Aryan article that are speaking against Dab. Please also see comments by other independent admin as to validity of Dab's block at [[1]].
Re: specific edits, did you by any chance look at the content of edits so see who started edit warring. I have been requesting citation since Feb 13th for this article. This whole article is OR as per WP policies. Finaly when Dab did cite a source [[2]], he misrepresented his conclusion, which I fixed at [[3]] and [[4]], please read edit summary for my comment. He reverted this without providing a reason or discussing at [[5]]. This I reverted and since then I have not edited the article. Dab has again reverted without providing any evidence. He is misrepresenting BB Lal's conclusions in the article that he himself cited. There is similar example where he is misrepresenting Bryant's word.
Bryant is the author that Dab used to create this article in December middle. Lot of other editor objected to this at that time. This whole article should not be on Wikipedia as per WP:ATT.
Sorry for the long note.Sbhushan 13:48, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- then put it on WP:AfD and see what other people think. I don't own Wikipedia: if the community agrees with you, there will be nothing I can do. And if it doesn't there will be nothing you can do. 14:01, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
I have opened an RfC related to IAT at [[6]]. Could you please add your views to that.Sbhushan 16:40, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Regarding User:Dbachmann
[edit]Perhaps you should address his abuse of privileges on Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/User_conduct#Use_of_administrator_privileges as per Dbachmann's own suggestion [7] in response to the post [8] .I have made some additions to the ANI post made regarding this matter [9] which you can use in building your case. 70.113.122.198 14:51, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Rayfield! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 576 article backlog.
