Shenton Way Hook

Hi! I'm not sure if "an artwork" is an apt descriptor for the hook on Shenton Way, the part that depicts people running after a banknote is part of a series contained within the subway station. Ravenpuff, i am not sure how the text is rendered on your machine, but on mine, the 'r' and ')' in today's tfa blurb appear to touch, which is why had used the {{--)}} template. is this sort of spacing adjustment not standard? i know the {{-?}} template is often used at dyk. i had also done the same for a previous tfa blurb with no issues, so i had not known that there might have been one. dying (talk) 05:29, 26 February 2023 (UTC)

@Dying: It definitely depends on the machine you use – on mine there is a bit of a gap between the letter and the bracket, which is why it seemed a little unnecessary to me, and I tend to use {{--)}} only where there is an italicized letter with an ascender leading to an unavoidable collision, e.g. "f)" vs "f)". Ultimately it is slightly subjective; in my experience most biology articles don't normally bother with this technicality in the rare cases where it occurs in the lead, but I might have been slightly too hasty in removing this instance you added. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 14:56, 26 February 2023 (UTC)

no worries, Ravenpuff. i was admittedly also surprised when i noticed that the 'r' and ')' seemed to touch when rendered on my machine, and had zoomed in to make sure that my eyes weren't deceiving me.

by the way, regarding this edit, are you aware that the use of abbr tags directly in tfa blurbs is generally avoided? Dank mentioned it to me some time ago, and although i was originally neutral on the position, i have found myself agreeing with it over time. interestingly, your edit also made me aware of my earlier erroneous and apparently absent-minded removal of the spaces around the en dash, so thanks for that. (i remember thinking to myself that the circa template adds a space so i should remove one to compensate, but i apparently removed more spaces than was necessary.)

also, i was trying to understand why you moved "King" into the link text for henry i. i have previously noticed that titles are generally not included in link text when linking to a specific person (e.g., "Prime Minister Rishi Sunak" rather than "Prime Minister Rishi Sunak"), but an exception is sometimes made for positions that may use a regnal number (e.g., monarchs). i have no personal preference regarding when to make the exception, but i try to keep the practice consistent within a blurb, so found it surprising that the title is in the link text for henry i, but not for either stephen or matilda (or henry ii). was this deliberate, or an oversight? dying (talk) 19:16, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
