Apology
[edit]I want to apologize for my behavior and actions several months ago. I wasn't exactly myself at the time, and while that's not an excuse, I hope it serves as some sort of explanation. If I could take back what I did, I would, but unfortunately that's not an option, so retiring seems the best course of action. I wish only the best for you all.

I'm not exactly sure about the style guide myself, but the sections as they stand seem kind of like a list of trivia or miscellania. I thought it would be better to put them into some kind of narrative format. Qqqqqq (talk) 16:06, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
re "Not a bad point"
[edit]You didn't tell me what you're referring to, but I assume it's this edit at Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. I'm not seeing what your objection is, but:
- As to the difference between "Therefore, there are certain things that Wikipedia is not." and "Therefore, Wikipedia is best described by saying what Wikipedia is not", I'd say that the literary superiority of the former is arguable at best, so it's best to just leave it as it is and not roil it just for the sake of tweaking wording.
- It's a WP:POLICY page and not an essay on the qualities of Wikipedia in general, and "Wikipedia is not perfect" doesn't belong, and I think think that "not being perfect" should not be a prescriptive admonition, as it could be interpreted as "Wikipedia should not try to be perfect" which I think could lead to unpleasantness over edits being reverted because they were trying to make the Wikipedia perfect, which would be against policy.
- I don't see "hundreds of upvotes", and I would recommend that fairly new editors (which I infer that you are) be careful about making changes to policy pages (which are the core of our governance system), and also that it's not a good idea for fairly new editors to say that other editors are "destroying". Let's be collegial here, OK?
Herostratus (talk) 14:04, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
- You're right, of course, and I will explain, but let me say this first, Hero. I don't want to be a troll. I want to be the last troll. But the last troll has to be the biggest one.
Randnotell (talk) 14:19, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
- I don't understand... has this something to do with Westminster Schools and 2008 instead? I'm afraid I'm not getting you... if you could be more precise, with diffs if necessary and possible, that would be helpful. 15:00, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
- Sadly, Hero, I can't be more precise right now. I wish I could, but that's not my job here.Randnotell (talk) 15:06, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit]How do I learn to ask good questions? Randnotell (talk) 16:31, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

The last troll
[edit]I know you're having fun, but...
- Don't troll on an actual article again, or you'll be blocked indefinitely
- Don't troll on article talk pages any more, or you'll be blocked indefinitely
- Feel free to troll on your own talk page (although I imagine it wouldn't be too much fun)
- Feel free to troll on other people's user talk page if you can show you're welcome there. Don't do it indiscriminately, and don't do it on anyone's page if they ask you to stop. I suggest some kind of explicit opt-in; if someone wants you to troll on their page, they can let you know here. To answer your next question, no you are not welcome to troll on my talk page.
- To head off another likely scenario, don't go around asking people for permission to troll on their talk pages.
Sorry if this poops your party. --Floquenbeam (talk) 02:48, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- There's just one more edit I have to make, Floquenbeam. Just one more, I promise.Randnotell (talk) 02:53, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- OK, I assume that was it. I have to admit, I was expecting something horrible. --Floquenbeam (talk) 02:56, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Contribute substantive content, go elsewhere, or be blocked
[edit]Rather than asking questions about Obama, Perry and others (and even about yourself), perhaps you would care to do some research. But then again, this declaration of yours makes that unlikely. Is there some reason why you shouldn't be prevented from editing? -- Hoary (talk) 03:37, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Deletion
[edit]Since my account is blocked from editing, and since I have other things on my mind and other things to do, it looks like I'll unfortunately need to have this account deleted. I may start another account someday, though, we'll see if Wikipedia is ready for me #LastTroll. Hey, Mike [1], do you suppose you could give me a hand here? Thanks for your question, by the way. I'm studying history and politics at University. A good pair of sciences to study. Mike, you're gonna be a good editor because you're a good doctor, but I get the feeling you just need to get a little better at English. #TheFinalEdit Randnotell (talk) 14:58, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
- The Actual Last Edit, of course, would be to give you a barnstar, Mike. Hope to see you someday. Uppsala, man! The oldest institution in Scandinavia. And this guy knows a little something about changing old institutions.Randnotell (talk) 15:00, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
- See you soon, everybody.Randnotell (talk) 15:00, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
As a matter of fact
[edit]I suppose this is the final edit. I have to get better at asking questions.
- Thanks, everybody. Best of luck, and goodbye.
