Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Rajanrao Shankar, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one of your contributions does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Questions page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Below are a few other good links for newcomers:

A tag has been placed on D.k. Thakur requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A tag has been placed on File:Asin Wirathu.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.gettyimages.ca/detail/news-photo/monk-wirathu-is-the-founder-of-the-widely-criticized-anti-news-photo/185767144?adppopup=true. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Taapsee Pannu, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 11:45, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Caste in WP:BLPs

[edit]

You seem to be adding caste-related details in a lot of articles. Note that you can mention caste in a WP:BLP only if the subject self-identifies with it – see here for details. BTW, this advise is regarding your edits like this one. - NitinMlk (talk) 19:23, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Boris Johnson

[edit]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Boris Johnson you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Rajanrao Shankar -- Rajanrao Shankar (talk) 05:45, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rajanrao Shankar, you are not supposed to nominate articles for GA unless you are a significant contributor (you have never edited the article), unless you've consulted with the major contributors first on the article talk page. And you are never, ever supposed to review you an article that you yourself has nominated. I am reverting your nomination, which was out of process, and have requested that your review page be deleted, since self-reviews are not allowed.
I would like to suggest that you wait until you have a great deal more experience at Wikipedia before you return to the GA nomination space, and that you first get used to working on editing articles and bringing them up to GA standards and going through having your article reviewed by someone else so you know how it works. I'd also recommend carefully perusing both the GA criteria and the GA nomination instructions, which explain about nominating and reviewing and how the processes work. Thanks. Sushant Singh Rajput

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

You should also be aware that matters relating to caste are divisive and problematic. Caste requires self-identification and must be attributed to a reliable source, which you did not do here, as blogs are totally insufficient as references per WP:UGC. I also notice that you've previously been apprised of this, so please stop adding caste unless you have satisfied the community's expectations, which I have elaborated on here. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:14, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Respected,Cyphoidbomb I have wrote his caste and taking it from article, where he defines the same. And in Sushant Singh Rajput caste case I have done the same. And that if you want I can source his interview for the sameRajanrao Shankar (talk) 02:45, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That's not an article, that's a blog. And even if that were an article, the word "caste" does not appear anywhere in it. So you are making a supposition about his caste identity that he does not explicitly say, which is a real problem. If someone said "I am a Blacksmith", does that mean that they are identifying with their family name of Blacksmith, or are they saying that they manufacture tools out of iron? If the meaning is unclear, we are not allowed to decide what it means. And just because someone's last name is identical to a caste, doesn't mean that the person identifies as part of that caste. There are a lot of people who don't participate in caste identification, including Amitabh Bachchan. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:57, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ok next time I would be more careful Cyphoidbomb. With kind regards Rajanrao Shankar (talk) 03:01, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Electoral history of Narendra Modi you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Important warning regarding GA nominations

[edit]

Rajanrao Shankar, eight days ago I posted here, noting that you are not supposed to nominate articles for GA if you are not a significant contributor, unless you've consulted with the major contributors first on the article talk page. Today, I see that you have nominated Electoral history of Narendra Modi, an article where the only edit you have made was to add a template. That is far from significant, and you should not have made the nomination.

Further, as I told you last time, when you did so with Boris Johnson, you are never, ever supposed to review an article that you yourself have nominated. Yet you have done so again. That's a fundamental conflict-of-interest, and completely unacceptable at GAN.

It is very clear that you do not understand the GA nominating and reviewing process, and your continuing attempts to participate are causing problems. Last time, I suggested that you wait until you have a great deal more experience at Wikipedia before you return to the GA nomination space. This time, it's more than a suggestion; it's clear that you need months more knowledge and experience, and you need it before you return. (It's also clear that your attempt to read and understand the GA criteria and GA nomination instructions pages was unsuccessful, unless you just ignored the suggestion entirely.)

I will be reverting your nomination of Electoral history of Narendra Modi, and arranging to have the review page deleted. I have checked your other GA nominations, and two of them, while thank goodness you haven't opened reviews, are nevertheless articles where you are not a significant contributor, so I am reverting the nominations: Rajendrasinhji Jadeja and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. As it says in the GA nomination instructions, Step 1 under Nominating, Nominators who are not significant contributors to the article should consult regular editors of the article on the article talk page prior to a nomination.

Your remaining nomination, of Vishwanath Pratap Singh, I have not reverted, because you made significant contributions to that article. However, you will wish to have it copyedited if you want to avoid it being quickfailed once a reviewer chooses it: there are quite a few problems with grammar and sentence structure in the material you added.

So the warning is this: you need to only nominate articles you have either done a lot of work on (and not just citations, but a significant amount of work on the article prose itself), or where you have consulted on the article's talk page prior to nominating. If you keep nominating articles in a manner against the GA instructions, or if you ever open another review of an article you nominated, you may lose your privileges involving participating in the GA nomination process. I very much hope it doesn't come to that. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:10, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article Electoral history of Narendra Modi you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Electoral history of Narendra Modi for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article.
