How to create page for (draft) of book review
[edit]Sage, I do not know how, and want to include a non-free image of the book cover, which can't be done in a sandbox. Tony (talk) 03:39, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you, Sage. I must say I'm surprised to hear about the existing policy regarding book covers. No big deal if it doesn't happen, since I'll be using one or two Commons pics, too. Tony (talk)
- Sage, I have applied for exemption for the use of book-cover images in critical reviews of books on WP in The Signpost. User:Hammersoft deleted the image from my draft earlier today because it is not in article space. I wonder whether you support the application? Tony (talk) 12:28, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

History of psychology
[edit]Hi, it's been a long time.
Given your interest in history of science and the academic image of Wikipedia, I wonder if you've seen this somewhat old discussion at the Advances in the History of Psychology blog of a debate that took place a while back about Alhazen's contributions to Psychology (It mentions your HoS Newsletter piece).
I posted an excerpt at Talk:Alhazen but think the comments might be more widely disseminated. --SteveMcCluskey (talk) 14:29, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- I see now that you and Jagged 85 both responded at that blog. My comments on wider dissemination still stand.
- As a heads up, there is a tempest brewing about Jagged's edits which may lead to a request for admin intervention. --SteveMcCluskey (talk) 14:50, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Plan for Post publication?
[edit]What are your plans for that this week? Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2010-05-10/Commons deletions isn't done, and nobody is particularly in charge of it. I suggest that you wait for this to be publishable, because I think we really need to include it in this week's Post. Also, I plan to change Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2010-05-10/In the news and remove most of the content about that brouhaha which isn't specifically related to its coverage in other media. Leaving it there repeats a lot of information and I think we should have most of the content in one article. I'd ask your thoughts on that first, though. ÷seresin 04:57, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- I changed my mind. I did some final tidies, and I think the story is at least publishable now (it's probably not as exhaustive as it could be, but there's a lot of discussion to tackle so I think what we have is acceptable). News and Notes is a bit skimpy, but I think just
final formatting and it can runformatted. All the rest seem ready to go. I still think we should modify ITN before publishing, but other than that, my opinion is that you should be good to publish. Oh and I put a title on the Commons article, because I thought the title I gave to the BLP page was just hilarious. Feel free to change it, though... ÷seresin 05:45, 11 May 2010 (UTC)- Thanks. I think you're right, it's probably better to publish now, when it's a least in half-way decent shape if not as complete as it ought to be. I'm inviting readers to expand and improve it post-publication.--ragesoss (talk) 11:09, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

NYC Wikipedia Meetup Saturday, May 22
[edit]New York City Meetup
|
In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, review the recent Wikimedia Chapters Meeting 2010, plan for the next stages of projects like Wiki-Conference NYC and Wikipedia Cultural Embassy, and hold salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the March meeting's minutes).
In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and generally enjoy ourselves and kick back.
You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.
To keep up-to-date on local events, you can also join our mailing list.

AfD nomination of Global citizenship
[edit]An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Global citizenship. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Global citizenship. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:06, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

signpost ITN section
[edit]Hey Sage,
I see you've returned to writing for The Signpost. Obviously you have noticed the Monday deadline has slipped half a dozen times now and the "In The News" section has been missing for the past two weeks. Can I speak to you privately about becoming a regular contributor to this section? There are so many questions I need to ask before committing to anything, some of them quite embarrassing for me because I consider myself an experienced editor (I've been editing from this account since 2008). I would prefer to speak over IRC if possible.
Cheers,
Ottre 19:56, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Nature study, possible expansion
[edit]Hello, Ragesoss. I'm not sure if we've ever officially crossed paths, but I know I've seen you around. As such, I've just now come across nature study, which I see was part of a class assignment you monitored a few years ago. It's a great start, and if you don't mind I am considering expanding it further. I've recently written the nature fakers controversy article (promoted to FA last month), which as you may know occurred at the very height of the nature study movement, so I have various sources on hand. I think it would be great fun to research, but wanted to alert you as to my attentions -- in case you would like to collaborate, or if you have any ideas as to which direction you think the article should go. I greatly admire your work on Wikipedia, so please feel free to drop me a line if you still have the article watchlisted. :) María (habla conmigo) 14:48, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- It's very interesting, I agree; such an article really needs to highlight nature study's effects on figures such as Rachel Carson and Aldo Leopold, and the modern conservation movement as a whole, as well as the historical aspects. Any help you could give would be most welcome! María (habla conmigo) 15:06, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

photo request
[edit]Hello, User:Risker told me you are the photog for this picture [1] we are using over on the Tea Party Movement. We're having a problem because of it's size. Everytime we arrange sections and/or add/delete text, we are sometimes left with the photo encroaching on the references section which in turn creates a huge channel of white space. Is there anyway you could please crop this photo down? Thanks.Malke2010 16:15, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll rearrange it a bit.Malke2010 16:56, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

- Thanks! I'll be working from home in Pittsburgh, but I could collect that coffee from Pete next week while I'm there. :) --ragesoss (talk) 18:20, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
I hear that you will be involved in University projects?
[edit]I am attempting to get the residents I teach to write for Wikipedia. I get a few coming through every month. I hear that you have a position arranging this sort of stuff? What does it entail? BTW I think it is a great idea and am looking into the possibility of inflicting Wikipedia an entire medical class. I still have a lot of people to convince. The classes currently have 256 students. Grab some glory, and a barnstar
[edit]Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. monopending changes begin june 15 17:51, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Why am I getting this message? Mono's delivery method is random, so you probably showed up somewhere Mono went. :)
Interview request: The newbie experience, revert communication and $10 to the WMF
[edit]As I'm concluding the study related to the NICE user script, I'd like to ask you some questions about your experiences with and ideas about Wikipedia. The questions will be related to how you interact with new editors and the way you communicate when reverting. The chat should take about 45 minutes to an hour and can happen over phone, voip(skype) or instant messenger(gtalk, ICQ, AIM, etc.). As thanks for your time, I'll donate $10 (US) to the Wikimedia foundation at the completion of the interview. If you are interested or need more information, please let me know. --EpochFail(talk|work) 20:07, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
