St. Peter

[edit]

Your addition to St. Peter had numerous problems (none insurmountable).

  1. No source was provided. Everything on Wikipedia should be verfiable by a published source.
  2. It was added to the lede which is a summary of the article. Additions should be made to the body text, first. (If I missed the body text you were summarizing, my apologies.)
  3. I didn't like the syntax. I would have phrased it "was crucified upside-down at the site of the present Clementine Chapel". If not for the above problems, I would have made the change.
  4. Minor tags are for truly minor edits: no change in meaning or likely controversy.

Don't let any policies stop you from helping to improve Wikipedia. Numerous editors (myself included) will be willing to help you with the technical details. Good luck editing.Novangelis (talk) 22:28, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok i'll add the references. thx. QvisDevs (talk) 18:02, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What you added doesn't really qualify. What you are describing sounds like it was part of a TV show (History Channel from around the time Angels & Demons was released?). Citing it as an "interview" is not sufficient to attribute it to a published source. If you know the title, I can help you with formatting. If that were the only problem, I would not have reverted again. It needs to be placed in a body section (e.g. St. Peter's Basilica). Two other things: I hope you don't mind that I indented your reply, and it was still not a minor edit.Novangelis (talk) 18:52, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The show was by History Channel, and the words came directly from the Roman Catholic Cardinal, Angelo Comastri. Who is the Archpriest of the Saint Peter's Basilica. His very words on the show was "This is the holiest site in the Basilica, where the Apostle Peter was crucified and his blood shed to the ground", he was standing in the Clementine Chapel. This is consistent with the tour guide information we received when we last were in Rome. The show is "Secret Access: the Vatican" produced by History Channel. The show features an interview with Card. Angelo Comastri and the caretaker of the Vatican Secret Archives.

If the source does not qualify under your standards, then forget it. I'm not a liar. thx QvisDevs (talk) 19:05, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unless a statement is totally obvious sources must be presented in a way that anyone can verify. I do believe you, but I cannot accept your word. Similarly, I cannot make the attribution, since I haven't looked it up. A tour you went on does not qualify, since the tour is not published.
The citation would be:
{{cite video
| people =
| year = 2011
| title = Secret Access: The Vatican
| url =
| format =
| medium =
| language =
| trans_title =
| publisher = History Channel
| location =
| archiveurl =
| archivedate =
| accessdate =
| time =
| id =
| isbn =
| oclc =
| quote = "This is the holiest site in the Basilica, where the Apostle Peter was crucified and his blood shed to the ground"
| ref =
}}
Not all blanks need to be filled in. You can find some of the details on IMDb at IMDb, but the most important detail is the time into the show. It is unreasonable to ask people to sit through a two-hour show to verify one sentence. Please avoid adding any links to unauthorized copies. More details about the template are here: Template:Cite video, but you probably won't need to worry about them.Novangelis (talk) 19:42, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

thanks i'll do this after i finish eating my turd. QvisDevs (talk) 20:25, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

July 2012

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions. One of your recent contributions to Salvatore J. Cordileone has been reverted or removed, because it contains speculative or unconfirmed information about a future event. Wikipedia has a policy called "Wikipedia is not a crystal ball", which discourages such edits. Please only add material about future events if it is verifiable, based on a reference to a reliable source. Thank you. Please revert the changes and discuss on the talk page. You have left factual errors in the article. Elizium23 (talk) 23:51, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to the factual errors mentioned above and in Talk:Salvatore J. Cordileone and WT:CATHOLIC, your edit here left a factual error in place: In addition, he serves as the Administrator of the Diocese of Oakland until his successor as Bishop is named by the Holy See. - in fact, he serves as Bishop of Oakland with the powers and obligations of Diocesan Administrator, not until his successor is named, but until Cordileone is installed in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Then the See of Oakland becomes sede vacante and nobody is Diocesan Administrator at all unless appointed, and nobody is Bishop of Oakland until liturgically installed. I suggest you revert to my version, and discuss as appropriate on the talk page I have linked, or I will continue to report editors for disruptive editing. Elizium23 (talk) 01:08, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
More factual errors. This edit makes things worse, and is not what I explained above. Revert to my version and DISCUSS ON THE TALK PAGE! Elizium23 (talk) 02:03, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning. The next time you remove the maintenance templates from Wikipedia articles without resolving the problem that the template refers to, as you did at Salvatore J. Cordileone, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Elizium23 (talk) 05:57, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

[edit]

Please take this as advice from a friend, not as hostile criticism. I suggest that you undo your last edit to Catholic Church and modify your last edit to its talk page. Catholic doctrine, in the sense of the teaching of the Catholic Church as understood on Wikipedia, is not the same as Catholicism in the sense given to it in Wikipedia. We may deplore the broad meaning given to "Catholicism" in Wikipedia, just as some deplore the narrow meaning that Wikipedia gives to "Catholic Church"; but, as things stand, it is misleading to suggest that Catholic doctrine is only what is common to the Catholic Church, the Old Catholics, Anglicans, Eastern Orthodox ... Esoglou (talk) 06:20, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, tell it to Ryan Gosling. He started it. I get what you mean but hes so fucking annoying. QvisDevs (talk) 06:22, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You know, block-evading sockpuppets shouldn't go around being so insulting to editors in good standing. Elizium23 (talk) 06:59, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sock puppet?

[edit]

How about this... History2007 (talk) 07:52, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have filed at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Lloydbaltazar, but it has been ignored for nine days solid now. Not sure why. Elizium23 (talk) 15:02, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your addition of the reference to "EWTN: Strong Men and Strong Faith All-Male conference", a more complete citation is needed so readers can find the source. Is there a url, or what is the media format of the reference? Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 15:28, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks, I just got off the telephone with EWTN Viewer's department and they said they will be uploading the video today at 5:00PM Eastern Time. Philip Rivers is the first presenter of the conference, followed by a colored ex-pastor. I'll give you the link once EWTN uploads it. My Direct TV did not record the show. QvisDevs (talk) 18:26, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Great. It would be good to cite the specific timestamps in the video that support the text. Readers would not want to watch the whole video to verify.—Bagumba (talk) 19:20, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Tedder. I noticed that you made a comment on the page Talk:Mormonism that didn't seem very civil, so it has been removed. Wikipedia needs people like you and me to collaborate, so it’s one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Please assume good faith. tedder (talk) 18:41, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, sorry to run out in the middle of a discussion...I'm going to be out of town for a lot of this coming weekend, so I probably won't be able to participate any more than I already have in our discussion. If you still have concerns, feel free to voice them on the talk page, and somebody else will probably respond (it has several watchers). I'll get back to it when I can. Have a lovely weekend. ~Adjwilley (talk) 19:22, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Puppet edits

[edit]

Your puppet edits to Marian apparition are less than constructive. The SPI case is pending, but why waste time? It will all be reverted in the end. History2007 (talk) 22:01, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
