Possible to find person or bot and reason?
[edit]Thanks for finding out. Possible to find person or bot and reason? Acceptance message came from DGG but I am having trouble contacting him. QSandai (talk) 08:56, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
Just found his talk.
[edit]So this was moved back to draft. Is there a reason? Difficult to re-write without objective. It was tighter before all the edits. Still better than many stub articles. Rewrite without objective seem pointless.
Three sentence synopsis. 1) Zhang was a supporting but key figure of the very rich 20th c Chinese literary movements. 2) Multi linguist who studied in Japan and France and was professor at Beijing U and Sino Franco U., and active in the scene. 3) Post WWII recovered core collection of antique manuscripts in Taiwan's National Central Library (literary equivalent of antiques of Palace Museum), doing so primarily by personal negotiation with US and Japanese officials without need for interpretors... Seems to me above is sufficient in comparison w many wiki articles. Pretty much everything else in the draft are to support those 3 sentences. (That third sentence is a billion $ legacy today. )
Comparing loosely, the man is not a Hemingway or Faulkner (Lu Xun). But he was similar to Mencken. And there was the chaotic scenes in China for the entire period, revolution from Qing, Japanese invasion, civil war communist against Republic.
Would very much appreciate your help in defining objectives. Have a nice week, Ed QSandai (talk) 10:15, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

05:42, October 29, 2019 Zanhe talk contribs moved page Zhang Dinghuang to Draft:Zhang Dinghuang over a redirect without leaving a redirect (this article is a terrible mess, by no means ready for main space)
- I agree that the draft is rather messy and needs work to tighten it up.--Auric talk 16:52, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- Taking another look at it, it does need considerable additional work, and I should not have accepted it. Ȝeſtikl has cleaned up the beginning, but it still needs great abbreviation of the copies of his work that form the very long latter parts of the article. If nobody else does it in the next fe days, I will. DGG ( talk ) 11:17, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
more.
[edit]Appreciate both of you taking the time to write.
I may be able to take some time this weekend to do a little. My plan now is to modify the beginning by stating the 3 points listed earlier. Plus obvious and simple things. Will not do anything complex because I do not know the goal. The tables will look good on a wide screen, wider than a phone.
Please let me know beforehand specifics you would like to see in plain English.
---
Beyond that I shall leave it in hands more capable than mine on wiki. An old friend who quit wiki a few years ago warned me about the wiki culture and lingo. No disrespect meant here because we both understand the spam problems and the fact that no one can know everything. I can contribute substance in specific narrow areas. Might try a much smaller subject next when I have time.
So I will find a couple of hours this weekend. Cheers and thanks.
Just finished + comments
[edit]I just finished my brief edit as noted earlier. Also checked overall organization of the article both with phone mode browser and desk top mode browser. In the desktop browser mode there is a table of contents which clearly shows the organization. This is missing on my phone browser. If your phone browser is missing the table of contents it is a handicap for this article which is long.
I also checked the tables and floating images. They are best used with the phone in a horizontal mode. Horizontal in desktop mode is best since you have control over size. But horizontal phone mode is also ok to my eyes. I have screen shots but don't know how to post them in this talk
My editing is basically done at this point since I don't know what numerous people want. You can make it more compact by cutting tables and vignettes. You can also rehash the whole thing by subject matter or timeline or something else like taking out all tables and use bullet points, or chop it up to several entries. My goal is to provide an article with substance and some color of life. That is the reason it is long. Now it is in your good hands. If you wish to edit further, the full table of contents will be helpful. QSandai (talk) 17:12, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
- Looks like the talk template doesn't allow images. No screen shots then 😀

[edit]Lotus Picking Song moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Lotus Picking Song, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

AfC notification: Draft:Lotus Picking Song has a new comment
[edit]I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission:
- You give two different English translations for the poem, one of 4 verses, and one of the one of the first 2 verses only. Who is the author of each of them? this is essential. If one is by you, say so. Although I do not know Chinese, I would guess that the 4-verse translation is much closer to the actual Chinese. But when the poem was used by Mahler, he used it neither in English nor Chinese, but in German, so we also need the German version as used in his work. (& it wouldn't hurt to have an English translation of the German, but if necessary I can do that myself.
- We also need to know the source of the notes. If they are your own analysis, they are unfortunately what we call WP:OR, Original Research. (they seem a quite good analysis to me--but I am not a scholar of literature. If they are your own, I can help you reword them so they are not so obviously OR. ]. Thanks! DGG ( talk ) 05:27, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
- I accepted Zhang Dinghuang. But as you knowt hat's not a guarantee that it will pass AfD. DGG ( talk ) 23:04, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. Afd is that to delete? It will say volumes about content vs form. Looking all around beyond wiki, McLuhan is right today more than he ever saw. Have a good weekend. QSandai (talk) 13:53, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
Could I make a suggestion?
[edit]Hi, I was doing some NPP and saw your article Long Autumn Night. I caught the note at the top that it's in progress, and I get that, but rather than putting unfinished pieces like that up in main space it might be better to use AfC or draftspace. Get the formatting right, add references, etc and THEN move it in to main space. That way you won't run in to deletion issues and don't tie up NPP time. Just a thought. JamesG5 (talk) 10:41, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks very much. I tried but have trouble navigating through the system. Just an ignorant newby.
Happy New year.
Is it a header or something like that? {{AFC}} Came out funny ,,,,😗😁

Category:Symphonies by Gustav Mahler
[edit]Hi, the function of Category:Symphonies by Gustav Mahler or other categories similar to that is to categorized works composed by the particular composer. I have removed this category from 2 articles that you added Hans Bethge (poet) and Long Autumn Night. The first one is a biography of a Poet, and the second one is the Poem. They are not symphonies. Thanks - Jay (talk) 15:13, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi again, I also noticed that you added
<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Autumn_Night#|title=Long Autumn Night|last=|first=|date=|website=|url-status=live|archive-url=|archive-date=|access-date=}}</ref> <ref name=":0" />
in Das Lied von der Erde. You have added Long Autumn Night in the earlier line but yet you re-add the same article using a "cite web" command. We do not wikilink article that way. I have undo that cite web. Thanks - Jay (talk) 15:40, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
Ok no problem. I understand the context now. Thanks for explaining clearly. QSandai (talk) 22:08, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
So if you use an inline link you can't use a citation of the same in another part of the article? Seems odd. To a casual reader sometimes it may be convenient. Maybe the link didn't register in the mind and the citation is a reminder.
QSandai (talk) 22:16, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
An article you recently created, Rong Fei, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It also has some issues with neutrality. The article is completely revised. How about moving it back to main space? Corrects major errors about fictitious character.

Thank you for creating Long Autumn Night.

Thank you for your new article on "Long Autumn Night". As a non-Chinese reader, I found some parts of this article confusing. Please clarify when this poem was written (if possible) and differentiate from the earlier work by Wang Yong. Was Wang Yong's work another poem, a musical composition, or what? Thank you.
