This is your Talk page where you can receive messages from other Wikipedians and discuss things with them. At the end of your messages you must put your signature by signing with four ~~~~ (just as I have done) or by pressing the button in the editor bar as shown here in the picture. By the way, you don't need to sign edits that you make in the articles themselves as those messages will be deleted. Another valuable page that may provide information and assistance is User:Persian Poet Gal/"How-To" Guide to Wikipedia. My name is Buster7. If you have any questions or face any initial hurdles, feel free to contact me on my talk page and I will do what I can to assist or give you guidance and contact information. Good Luck editing!

Wikipedia Help Survey

[edit]

Hi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Wikipedia's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.

Thank you for your time,

Hi. When you recently edited Adult Film Association of America, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Leslie (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Your revert on 32nd AVN Awards

[edit]

I note that you have reverted my edit on 32nd AVN Awards, using all-caps (which is interpreted as shouting online) and accusing me of "not using preview". I was using WPCleaner, which I'm somewhat new at, having given up using it a couple of times. One reason I make the mistakes I do is that you can't use preview on WPCleaner. I'd appreciate more patient edit summaries for now on as I learn to use it in a more effective fashion. I am sure I'll make less mistakes in the future. --I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 16:24, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

1999 AVN Award nominees

[edit]

Hello Pumik9! I'm curious, where can I get online access to citation #6 in 16th AVN Awards? Rebecca1990 (talk) 05:18, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Still, thanks for providing the nominations listing and a citation. I'll use that info to expand other articles. Rebecca1990 (talk) 05:41, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, sorry to bother you again, but are you sure that "Mocha" was really nominated for Female Performer of the Year in 1999, or was this a mistake (if it was, I assume it was unintentional) you made while creating the article? "Mocha" is listed in the article as a nominee for both Best New Starlet and FPOTY in 1999. I'm asking because AVN almost never nominates performers for both FPOTY and BNS in the same year, but when they do, the performer who was nominated for both ends up winning at least one of those awards e.g. Ashley Blue (nominated for both BNS and FPOTY in 2004; won FPOTY, but not BNS), Cytherea (nominated for both in 2005; won BNS, but not FPOTY), and Missy (was not only nominated, but actually won both awards in 1997). Can you double check the nominees listed in the magazine and the ones listed in the article? Please let me know if "Mocha" was really nominated for FPOTY or not in 1999. Rebecca1990 (talk) 07:27, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Rebecca1990: Hi again.. Yes, Mocha was definitely listed as a nominee for both female performer of the year and for best new starlet. (So was Alisha Klass, who won best starlet — maybe that's why Mocha didn't won one of the categories.) I know, it seems odd, and you can't rule out the possibility that AVN made a mistake in their program (they made one other one, which I noted in the article (see third paragraph of "ceremony information"), by listing a wrong person in a sex scene.) If you like, if there's a way for us to connect by email, I can scan the program and email it to you. Always happy to help. pumik9 • (talk) 16:04, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks! It just seemed odd to me. The fact that she was the only FPOTY nominee without a Wikipedia article made her stand out. This is also the first time I've ever heard of her. But hey, what would I know about who the most popular pornstars were back then? I was only 8-9 years old during that time period (1998-99). Rebecca1990 (talk) 16:57, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. 1987-1990 XRCO Awards

[edit]

Do the sources you added to XRCO Hall of Fame for 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990 contain full lists of winners, or only Hall of Fame inductions? If they do list any other XRCO winners besides Hall of Fame, could you add them to the XRCO Award article? Rebecca1990 (talk) 09:42, 2 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Rebecca1990: I'm sure I would have done so at the time (although I wouldn't have added extra references to winners already listed in Wikipedia if they already had references). But for the most part there weren't many winners listed; they didn't have as many awards in those days. I'm keeping an eye out on EBay for anything that looks like it might have better information than I already have, because I hope someday we can do an individual page for each year's XRCO awards just like we're doing for AVN Awards. (Incidentally, I do have good information on AVN Awards for years that we don't have pages for yet, but I just haven't had time to get at it. I hope to get back at it soon though.) But yes, I do hope to add more information to the XRCO listings if I can get any. Nice to hear from you again; thanks for posting. pumik9 • (talk) 23:59, 2 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with...understanding why all the now-orphaned non-free images just added to my talk page were removed from the articles they were a part of.

I've always uploaded a scan of DVD covers to go with the AVN Awards articles I've written, on the belief they're fair use (and I'm about to do so again with the 15th (1998) AVN Awards which I hope to finish this weekend). The DVD covers I upload are one of the awards show itself and one of the best film winner. However, suddenly Hullaballoo Wolfowitz has deleted them all citing only "obvious NFCC violation" (one example is https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=16th_AVN_Awards&diff=next&oldid=693276666). i'm tempted to revert them all, but not if he's actually correct in this and I don't want to start an edit war (because he likes those!). Do you see any NFCC violation in this at all? I'm really at a loss as to what it could be, but if I'm in the wrong, I'd like to correct whatever I've been doing wrong. Thanks for any advice you can offer!

  1. An administrator is no more able to answer this than any other experienced editor.
  2. If you wish to know why an editor removed something, then the logical thing to do is to ask that person, not to ask someone else.
  3. I wondered what non-free criterion or criteria you were using, so I started by looking at what you had given as the justification in the case of one of the images. I saw you had given the purpose of the upload as "to serve as the primary means of visual identification at the top of the article dedicated to the work in question", but the article to which you had attached the image was not dedicated to the work in question. (It mentioned the work in question, but that is far from being the same thing.)
  4. Whether that is typical of all the images or not I don't know, but it was enough to persuade me it wasn't worth spending more time on investigating. I suggest once again that you ask the person who removed the images if you wish to know why it was done, and you can't see for yourself why it was. Once you know the answer, then it will be reasonable to consider other questions, such as whether that person was right or not. A tag has been placed on File:Norris McDonald (Journalist) in racing gear.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo). Treated like dirt by many administrators since 2006. (talk) 12:55, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 6th AVN Awards, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Leslie. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
