Velocity Micro
[edit]Can you tell me why my page was deleted and how I can make it better?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Psnb (talk • contribs) .
- Please see WP:CSD, specifically G11 (which covers advertisements). The article appeared to be an advertisement for a business and/or services instead of an encyclopedia entry. - CHAIRBOY (☎) 21:10, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- You may also wish to read WP:CORP, general guidelines for what makes a corporation notable enough to be listed. In general, the article should cover what's been written about the company by neutral, third-party sources who are not part of the company themselves. If there are no such mentions, the corporation is very likely non-notable. Seraphimblade 21:26, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- In answer to your question, the awards would not in themselves make the company notable but would help toward it. If the company was written up in a full article on such sites or publications, or its products have been given detailed reviews, summarizing these and citing them as sources instead of utilizing personal knowledge of the company would be best. It is also generally best not to write articles yourself about things you're close to or have inside knowledge of-it's very difficult to avoid using inside knowledge, stay objective, and stick to sources under such conditions. You may wish to request the article instead, so that someone else can find sources and provide a neutral writeup. Seraphimblade 21:41, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- I believe the article's already been deleted. However, if you'd like to place the information on my talk page, I'll have a look through it to see if there's enough to make a notable article out of.
- Also, thanks for calling attention to the problems with the other articles. In the future, if you see an article you believe to read a bit like an ad, please add the {{advertisement}} template to it, or if it's a totally unsalvageable ad piece add {{db-spam}}.I did a good bit of cleanup on Falcon Northwest in an attempt to achieve better neutral tone, and will also look over the other two you mentioned. Of course you're welcome to do so as well-be bold and correct problems as you see them! However, please note that both of those were recently acquired by major corporations-that tends to increase the notability of the acquired corporation as well, as the press will report such things. Of course, that doesn't change that anything on Wikipedia should be a neutral report on the company and its notability, neither promoting nor disparaging it (unless we're summarizing a source which does so, and even then it should be kept brief with a link to the source if someone wishes to read more).Seraphimblade 22:05, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Ah, it looks like a few other editors have already explained a rationale similar to the one I deleted the page under -- specifically, CSD G11, which covers pages apparently intended to advertise. The article as written at the time I deleted it did read pretty much like an advertisement, but I see that you've cut down on that and seem to have sources besides the company's main website -- it always helps to cite a variety of sources, especially mass media sources, to demonstrate the wide notability of a subject (and also to maintain objectivity). Hope that makes sense. I'll do my best to answer any questions, if you have more. Regards, Luna Santin 05:12, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Speedy tag removal
[edit]Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Seraphimblade 21:35, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Vitalkey.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Vitalkey.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:27, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Velocity Micro
[edit]A tag has been placed on Velocity Micro requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Mhiji 21:00, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of VitalKey
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on VitalKey, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
