I want to design a template for a draft article on FTTO. This is my code on the "Create Template" Page:

{{Template Technology | name = FTTO | class = [[FTTx]] | image = [[File:City highway.jpg|thumb|Metaphor]] }}

When I insert {{Template Technology}} into the draft text, I see only "name = FTTO" or all the code with "=". What I am doing wrong?

Regards,

Templates are special kinds of pages that are meant to be displayed as "building blocks" in several other pages. For example, Template:Infobox company produces a sidebar for company articles. I'm not sure what your proposed template is meant to do, and what kinds of articles it's intended for. If it's just for a single article, including the image directly will be easier than setting up a template for the purpose. You may want to check out the non-specialized infobox template at Template:Infobox, but I'm not sure having an infobox merely for the sake of having an infobox, without the structured information that usually comes with it (say, revenues, founding date, name of the CEO, employee figures, ... for a company; birthdate, education, family details, ... for a person and so on) is beneficial. Non-conflicted editing

[edit]

Hello, User:FTTO11801 - based on your name and your editing you appear to be here at Wikipedia with a very specific topic area in mind. That is fine. However, if you are directly involved in businesses that promote this technology, for future reference you should be aware of Wikipedia's policies on conflict of interest, promotion, and paid editing. This may not pertain to you, but this is all good information to have when starting to edit Wikipedia. The templated text below will give you more information and lots of good links. Thanks, and happy editing. LaMona (talk) 17:51, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, FTTO11801. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.
