Addition of lyrics
[edit]Hello PropPlays. Your additions to SMK Damansara Jaya have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted lyrics without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Thank you. – Isochrone (talk) 15:59, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Alright I see, I'll try to understand more about the copyright situation. Thanks. PropPlays (talk) 16:08, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Oh yeah question, can I just add the lyrics not the soundtrack like the words only or nah? PropPlays (talk) 16:12, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- As all of those are copyrighted, you can't add any of them. Sorry. – Isochrone (talk) 16:13, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Not even the words? PropPlays (talk) 16:14, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, even the words. If you wrote down what someone said in a speech, the person who spoke would still own the copyright, not you. – Isochrone (talk) 16:16, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- So that also applies to any word that was in the song? If so, if I find evidence that the song wasnt copyrighted then can put in the article right? Just wanted to know. PropPlays (talk) 16:19, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- You can use small excerpts as long as you make it clear it is a quote and use a reference to cite the source. You can't use the entire lyrics however. – Isochrone (talk) 17:32, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
