Good work
[edit]Hi Primacag. Your edits keep popping up on watchlist, and they're great! Good work! One thing, though: you shouldn't put comments in articles like I noticed you did here[1] and here[2] (e.g. "<from where??>"). It's best to make these requests on the article's talk page: other editors are more likely to see them there and answer, and it keeps the article itself looking professional. There are, however, a few templates you can use in article space. To request a citation, you can add {{cn}} or {{fact}} after the unsourced statement. This renders as: bla bla bla[citation needed]. Other useful templates are {{who}}, {{when}} , and {{clarifyme}} which render as [who?], [when?], and [clarification needed], and you can add a invisible comment in the article using <!-- -->. Thanks and keep up the good work.Yilloslime (t) 17:31, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Yilloslime, Thanks. I am learning where the right buttons are for getting things done. Any direction welcomed. Don't be bashful. Primacag
Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 16:34, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Lindane
[edit]Based on the other articles you've been editing and the kind of work you've been doing on them, I think you might enjoy cleaning up Lindane. I've already trimmed, tweaked, and excised a lot[3] but there's a ton more work to do. Yilloslime (t) 02:51, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yillo: Thanks. I read it. It looks grammatically good, which is the extent to which I am qualified to critique this subject. I was collecting information for a book chapter and couldn't stand the poor grammer of the other pages. I will be appearing in water and other ag topics in the near future. Any other suggestions you have for me to look at welcomed. The page I am most concerned about is the Environmental Science article that has been gutted and juvenilized by some zealous "scientists" who only know how to measure and sample and know little about how to regulate and value the environment. primacag
Shikimic Acid
[edit]You mentioned that the sentence "Although shikimic acid is present in most autotrophic organisms, it is a biosynthetic intermediate and generally found in very low concentrations" needs to be clarified in laymans terms; I believe it does not need a change as its meaning is very clear if you have any grasp of basic biology, and articles on each "scientific" term are readily available. In case you were actually wondering what it means, here is a rough "translation": "Although shikimic acid is present in most organisms that make their own food(plants), they change it into something else so there isn't much of it present at any particular time." As you can see, a "laymans" translation is bulky and doesn't really clarify as much as just finding out what the few uncommon words mean. ~ Zeofar (talk) 20:19, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
A while back mentioned a number of changes that should take place in the article on Sediment. I'm not ready to take on that project right now, but based on your comments, perhaps you would. Awickert (talk) 05:34, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
Aluminium
[edit]Thanks for working on this article.
While you're at it, can you please repair the broken wikilinks, references, and subscripted chemical formulae that was correctly formatted prior to your edits? --Rifleman 82 (talk) 17:26, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
- Your quote "First problem.... the article reads like a bad freshman college or high school level composition." Well, that is how most of our articles are written - we do not have a staff of professional editors. We rely on voluntary editors. So be constructive and get to work! --Smokefoot (talk) 20:21, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
It is constructive to tell people how bad some of the writing is so that they will aspire to better. It is not professional to whine about it being pointed out. Too many people are defensive about what they should be working on themselves. Avram Primack (talk) 19:10, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- We look forward to see your words turn into action! Go for it. --Smokefoot (talk) 00:14, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
