Hi again... further congratulations on owning/restoring color scheme of, etc. a genuine historic property. If you haven't seen, please do see my comments at Draft talk:Cassidy House (Rapid City, South Dakota), where I request to my friend, I think i can say, and editor User:Bkissin that your article be promoted back to mainspace. It is definitely a valid Wikipedia topic and can have an article, and IMHO your version is good enough, esp. with my having corroborated your sourcing from the NRHP document. I would prefer to make improvements to the article after it is returned to mainspace, for various reasons, but you should know that whether or not Bkissin agrees and moves the article, it will get to restored to mainspace. If Bkissin does not agree to my request, then eventually I would revisit the draft article, anyhow, and make improvements that bring it into more clear full compliance with Wikipedia requirements, and it would then get promoted. So be patient, don't be discouraged, feel free to make further edits to this and/or other articles.
By the way, you maybe are lucky that, in your first editing in Wikipedia, you have chosen to work on a NRHP-listed place as your topic. Because that is basically guaranteed to be accepted, while probably most new editors contributing a new article will get frustrated by their topic getting refused. Perhaps in an unpleasant kind of legal-like process called "Articles for Deletion" (you can see examples of such processes going on at wp:AFD). It is generally hard to get started in Wikipedia, it can be very unfriendly to new editors not knowing the ropes and about many explicit policies or unwritten practices here, and some editors being very unfriendly (which you have not experienced). I surmise that you could possibly be interested only in getting this one article done and accepted, but I hope you might be interested in participating further, perhaps in contributing photos and writing about other historic properties in your area or elsewhere. I have much enjoyed working mainly on articles about NRHP-listed places all over the U.S. And there is a "WikiProject" group focussed on this, at shortcut wp:NRHP and you are welcome to join that, and either way to make comments or ask questions at its Talk page, shortcut wt:NRHP. Again, hang in there, and keep up your good work! cheers, --Doncram (talk) 03:55, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the encouragement! Actually, I had written edits to an article on Badger Clark (poet laureate of South Dakota). One of my main sources for some of the interesting bits about him was from a historical recording of him discussing some of his history (and reading some of his poems). There are no transcriptions online of what he says, so it is difficult to source as it cannot be easily verified without spending $20 on the historical CD (which I did).
I had fully intended to make more edits to the Cassidy House listing as I was tired while writing it and there are more pieces of information that might be valuable.
Again, I appreciate the encouragement! I used to write columns for the my local newspaper. As with everything, it's a matter of finding the time and having the passion.
Have a fantastic day or evening...whatever time zone you are in! Prairie7 (talk) 05:13, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
