Gundakar of Liechtenstein
[edit]Hello,
I have looked into the inconsistency of how many children he had from his second marriage. It appears that the German Wikipedia is internally inconsistent on this issue. The page about de:Elisabeth Lukretia (Teschen) says she had three children with him; the page about Gundakar mentions only two. The English equivalents both mention three children.
I have added some references on Gundakar's page to external sources naming all three children.
Kind regards, HansM (talk) 19:56, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Minor
[edit]Hi. Just a tiny reminder to only use the minor checkbox, when an edit doesn't change any significant content. This edit changed some of the words, hence would not be classified as minor. (I don't object to the changes! Just to the minor tag ;) Thanks! –Quiddity (talk) 16:10, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Tiki
[edit]Can you understand the German text about the tikis? Do you know which tiki is the first image according to Steinen's book? I'm trying to ID them to their modern names. Here is the description of the tikis and their modern names[3]. I'm not sure if the first image below is a pre-restored version of Tiki Manuiotaa (second image in the back) or a very beaten end up Tiki Te Tovae E Noho (third image, right). Thanks.
-
Tiki Te Tovae E Noho is to the left of Takaii, on a lower platform. Less finely worked than the others, its upper torso is hard to make out and the head has disappeared. Note that its hands each have six fingers
-
Tiki Manuiotaa is in complete contrast to the others: less massive, its proportions are harmonious and balanced. The hands are clearly recognisable, as is its female sex. It was decapitated, but its head has been replaced by archaeologists.

Karl v. d. Steinen describes 8 sculptures found in a sanctuary in PUAMAU, island of HIVAOA, in vol. II p. 77−84:
- TAKAII, standing, with damaged arm, description vol. II p. 79, photo vol. II p. 78 fig. 58 (profile). Another photo (front view) in Baesler, after p. 79, fig. XIX [4]. Baesler's photo also in vol. III fig. β B 1. I would guess this is the central sculpture in photo number 3 (right photo) above.
- TE TOVAE-NOHO-UA, without head, next to TAKAII.
- TE ANA-EHUEHU, a lying sculpture.
- TIU-OO, a head alone, of exactly the same kind as number 8 MANUIOTAA, but with different tattoos and without dog.
- TE HAATOUMAHI-A-NIKI, standing, without head, description vol. II p. 80, photo vol. II p. 79 fig. 59. The head lying next to it. The sculpture in photo number 1 (left photo) above. I would guess this is the sculpture seen in photo number 2 (middle photo) above in the background, now again with head.
- TONOFITI, a severely damaged head alone
- MAKII-TAUA-PEPE, a lying woman, with child O POITI-E-MAI-HAAATUA, description vol. II p. 80 seq., photo vol. II p. 80 fig. 60 (woman) and p. 81 fig. 61 (child). Another photo in Baesler, after p. 236, fig. XX [5]. The sculpture in photo number 2 (middle photo) above in the foreground according to the original description of the upload. Baesler's photo also in vol. III fig. β B 2.
- MANUIOTAA, the giant head, transported by von den Steinen with the help of 15 men. Now Berlin, Museum für Völkerkunde, VI 15827. Description vol. II p. 82−84. Photos or drawings vol. III fig. β A and fig. β B 3.
--Pp.paul.4 (talk) 19:42, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks! How do you know "MANUIOTAA, the giant head" has "Photos or drawings vol. III fig. β A and fig. β B 3". I see page 82 on vol II but it mentions only Abb. β A and β B 3. I am going to request vol III on Wikipedia:WikiProject Resource Exchange/Resource Request, do you have any idea what pages should I request for?--KAVEBEAR (talk) 06:56, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry, I do not have page numbers. Vol. III has "823 photos and drawings on 84 tables". The three volumes were reprinted in 2008. A photo of MANUIOTAA appears on p. 121 of this pdf and, in better resolution, in a comparison of the two heads MANUIOTAA and TIU-OO. --Pp.paul.4 (talk) 16:51, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

- Thanks so much. Do you know what Steinen is saying in vol II about MAKII-TAUA-PEPE and MANUIOTAA in regards to dogs and rat figures on the statues (what is he guessing or commenting about them)? --KAVEBEAR (talk) 07:45, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- On pp. 82-84 he discusses at length whether the figures are rats or dogs, and at the end draws no firm conclusion. The arguments given are: In Polynesia the only known terrestrial mammals are pigs, dogs and rats. There were most likely no dogs on the Marquesas before the arrival of the Europeans. There were dogs on other named islands. His guide tells him that the figures are rats, but not the present kind of rats, but giant rats of yesteryore. Then he discusses the words for "dog" in Polynesian. Then he discusses the myths about dogs and rats on the Marquesas. He concludes (though he obviously prefers the interpretation as dogs) that the figures are most likely rats, if they predate the arrival of the Europeans. He then continues to discuss the age of the sanctuaries. --Pp.paul.4 (talk) 19:59, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Irmgard Hörl (1927-1973)
[edit]Thank you for "Maximilien de Robespierre". Can you help me also with that? The school where she worked in 1956, when she discovered Robespierre's grave, and the cemetery where she is buried.
- No, thanks, you have been told at the German wikipedia that she was a teacher and presumably not a notable person and copying a burial record from a church book does not make her notable. --Pp.paul.4 (talk) 12:20, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
