@Theroadislong: Thank you! I didn't realize a redirect wouldn't be placed there as the correct starting point for a submission. Also, thank you for the head's up about the Teahouse! I'm hoping to get into the habit of contributing regularly as a copyeditor and to do some more work adding content regarding guitar pedal manufacturers, and that should be a great help! @Legacypac: Thank you for notifying me. I don't think I entirely understand how the sandbox works as I didn't realize this would go in the submission queue. My apologies! Potatowrite (talk) 06:31, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A note about Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline

[edit]

One last note: I'm not sure if you are related to Wampler Pedals or the owner in some way, or if you are just interested in writing about their products. If you do have a conflict of interest, please be sure to add your username on Talk:Wampler Pedals with the {{Connected contributor}} template. It's just for full disclosure, similar to when a news reporter briefly mentions that they have stock in a company in a story they write about that company. If you don't have a conflict of interest, please disregard this note, although you still may want to be familiar with that guideline. Thanks for all of your work on the Wampler Pedals article! — Newslinger talk 21:21, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reminding me about this! I'm not officially related to them in any capacity. I'm just a big fan of their work in the DIY community. They had mentioned on their Facebook group that they'd been stymied getting their page created, and I had always wanted to get started working on Wikipedia, so I used it as an excuse. I've got another article for EarthQuaker Devices I'm working on as well. DIY guitar pedal builders that became professionals has become a bit of a research hobby for me. (that and I've been using this as a working example in my teaching of editing). As I'm reading the page, it doesn't seem like that would trigger a COI, but I'm new to all this. Potatowrite (talk) 22:13, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, being a fan of a company doesn't count as a conflict of interest. It's great that you're writing articles on subjects you're passionate about. Please feel free to ask me if you need help in the future. — Newslinger talk 22:19, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
