Evil in Censorship

[edit]

Thank you for your email. Forgive my Evil ways and diabolical sense of humour, good luck to you at Wiki and a happy new year. I do sincerely believe that Eletronic Virtual Intelligent Life (as a concept) will one day soon merit a place in Wikipedia, however since Evil Limited is accelerating its development we do have a conflict of interest, so we shall depart and leave the defining of the term to others.

All the best, Charles Fox - Director Evil Limited. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Evil-Limited (talkcontribs) 19:37, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot find any entry on the copyright problems page for this image, which prior to your tagging of it did include a copyright permission notice. The user who uploaded it is a new user and may need some help or support in ensuring he tags his images properly. Unfortunately, I lack the expertise to help him on this subject - could I ask you to offer him a helping hand here? Thanks. DuncanHill (talk) 16:19, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There appears to be a backlog on the page (it's only up to Jan 2). The listing is here.
The problem is that the user is claiming to have taken the photo theirself (their tag to release it into the public domain is still there, I assure you), and yet a crop of the image is also seen at this BBC sport item, so there's a problem somewhere (even if the BBC is the one at fault). The thing is, if the uploader did admit it wasn't theirs, then there's still the problem that we don't use non-free images just to identify living people, so it would still be up for deletion. --Popplewick (talk) 16:26, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks - that makes more sense now! Best wishes, DuncanHill (talk) 20:54, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello mr popplewick i am very sorry about the issue i am a bit confused on the way this works if it is explained it would be explained. I slightly understand it.--Thevardonrushes (talk) 21:04, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the response

I'm not sure if the group even exist now. South Central Cartel Flesh-n-Bone 16:40, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Plus, if someone's alive, but is not active anymore, it is impossible to get a free photograph of them, well considering they are most of time at home. --Flesh-n-Bone 16:41, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you have evidence of that the group no longer exists, then make that argument using the template, as I have already advised you. --Popplewick (talk) 16:49, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't give a crap about that image, but leave me alone and don't follow every page I visit. --Flesh-n-Bone 18:58, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have done no such thing. I merely dealt with some edits you made which were contrary to policy on the use of non-free images. I hope, in retrospect, you will come to realise that simply removing a tag from an image page will not solve any underlying concerns there are with its use. Good day. --Popplewick (talk) 19:03, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to remove for that moment and add fair use as you can see now. Flesh-n-Bone 19:18, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Presenter" and reliable sources

[edit]

I'll say this here rather than on the already-crowded Natasha Collins AFD. I said "Is it right to say that she didn't "present" it when reliable sources say she did?" and you replied "It is when they're wrong." It's not up to Wikipedians to judge whether or not a reliable source gets something wrong. Then we get into the realms of original research and whatnot. Brad (talk) 17:49, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Editors are required to make judgement calls about sources all the time (else we'd have difficulty determining how to implement various content policies). When it comes to simple errors like this, we can apply common sense without producing our own original research. --Popplewick (talk) 18:14, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:41, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
