Typing experience isn't needed, and as long as your grammar is understandable others will polish the new content you add; this is a collaborative project, and no-one is good at (or likes doing) every task. Wikipedia's citation and referencing formats are diverse; basically most formats are okay, as long as the reader can figure out what the source was (if you are editing the source text, Help:Cheatsheet will tell you how to do refs and other markup; Citation Bot will auto-complete references if you feed it a unique identifier, like a Digital object identifier or an ISBN).
