Feedback on your article
[edit]Hello Pollylilu, Thank you for writing your article in your sandbox! I have read the article and would like to give some feedback to improve your article to Wikipedia standards and customs. While your tutor will judge it content wise, I will look if it meets the quality standards we have on Wikipedia. I standard look for a series of subjects that need improvement or are okay.
- Intro sentence: is constructed well, but it does not fully describe a virtual community as it limits the subject only to three parts, while also online gamers also form a community, but is not mentioned in the intro sentence. The intro sentence is thus too limited. (It is not needed to capitalise the subject as it is not a given name.)
- Links: seeing the topic, you almost used sufficient links. I would only add more links for the last section: each of the examples can need a link for that good, and the word internet can be linked (once), as that seems to me a primary keyword for this subject.
- Headers: The header "Reasons" sounds strange, and I think would be better called "Motivation". Besides the not needed capitalised O and C in "Types of Online Communities", I would just call this header "Types", as we know this article is about online communities and not needed to repeat that. In the section of "Types of Online Communities" I see headers with a level too low (a second degree header (== ... ==) is normally divided by a third degree header (=== ... ===) and directly by a fourth degree one, but the main issue here is that you use too many headers. A bulleted list is here more appropriate. This needs to be fixed!
- References: Please place the reference behind the dot, not before. Also no space before the reference. Please fix this. Also I would relocate the reference behind Entertainment 4 lines up. For the rest references are sufficient.
- Other: There is not need to make Online Community Italic throughout the article, also not needed to write the O and C capitalised. Replace at the bottom of the page the ---- by {{Reflist}} and add above a header (like "References"). But the biggest issue with your article is that your article is not balanced. Wikipedia articles are supposed to be neutral, and one part of neutrality is also that an article is balanced. Your article is not balanced as it only tells about the benefits, while disadvantages also should be described for the balance. Please add a new section with the disadvantages to give you article balance.
- Ready to publish: because your article is about online community, and the article Virtual community already exists in Wikipedia, your article can't be published. However, the part of motivation is not yet described in the existing article in Wikipedia, and you can expand Virtual community with it.
I hope you can implement this feedback to your sandbox article before our next meeting. Thanks! Romaine (talk) 11:26, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
