On 5 August 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Opoczno S.A., which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. GURK SMERSH
Thank u very much for looking in to it. I have done something with the reference codes.
Jeszcze raz proszę o pomoc i dziękuje.
– I’m not sure if you prefer to be addressed in Polish or in English, but regardless, you need to learn beforehand how to preformat the material you intend to add to English Wikipedia. Regarding your multiple errors introduced in our article SMERSH, please spend some time reading Wikipedia:Manual of Style and specifically Wikipedia:Citing sources. Tam rozbudowałem cały system p tajnych służbach oczywiście z pomocą kolegów i koleżanek. Ale masz racje muszę się zapoznać z techniką panującą. Ale tyle tego jest 😕. Hi can u help me SMERSH?
When I transfer info from my brudnopis everything was OK. Because each edition has to be conform by the source in this case Vadim J. Birstein : SMERSH Stalin's Secret Weapon, Soviet military counterintelligence in ww2 ISBN 978-1-84954-108-4, when I have made that source and saved it, everything was OK, it kept the same number 19. U know I was looking the way u have made changes , after the first time I have ask u for help. Więc wiedziałem że źródło które wpisuje zatrzyma tem sam nr. Nie zatrzymało. Przestałem dodawać aby nie narobić większych kłopotów.

Replaceable fair use File:Jennifer Teege - My Grandfather (2015).jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Jennifer Teege - My Grandfather (2015).jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 11:01, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

I need your advise
Hi Poeticbent,
I have seen your involvment on the english wiki article about the uprising in ghettos during WWII.
The french page is :
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul%C3%A8vements_de_ghettos_durant_la_Seconde_Guerre_mondiale
I am very suprised to see that, there is only a few language's links (interwiki).
Even, there is no such a page in Hebrew neither in Yiddish nor in German !
Can you help to contact someones who will be able to start a page and do the connection with those two idioms ?
I should be able to start a page on the Portuguese wikipedia, may be on the German one ... But what about Polish ?
(Even if one of my great-grand-mothers was born "Mycielszka", I don't speak a word of Polish.)
Best regards,
--Millot (talk) 06:45, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Millot. Thanks for asking. Our "Ghetto uprising" article is underdeveloped, with only the basic facts mentioned in it. The reason for this subject being generally under-represented in Wikipedia (with the exception of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising perhaps) is the scant representation of this entire subject in books on the one hand and on the other hand, the limited number of survivor testimonies available. There were far more uprising worth writing about, however, according to Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines unless they are all put together in a single monograph by a Holocaust historian with introductory notes, Wikipedia article about all of them would amount to (user-generated) synthesis of published material which is discouraged. The best example of how it could work is the Holocaust trains article (listing countries) with reliable sourcing throughout. By contrast, the ghetto uprising article features a short list of selected links to English language articles about Jewish ghettos, and little else. Available articles in other languages include Hebrew contrary to what you said, but the absence of the German and the Polish coverage is a complete surprise to me:
- Español
- Français
- Italiano
- עברית
- Русский
- Suomi
- Українська
- Hello Poeticbent, thank you for answering fast with all explanations. Claude Lanzmann: Spectres of the Shoah
You deleted a thoroughly researched and referenced section of this article. Nomination refers to an active status of a film, whereby the award winner has yet to be decided. This refers to future awards. Your comment that " nominations" are what "you" do, not what "they" do " is nonsensical - please explain or expand upon your thinking. I will undo the change in the meantime.
Additional help requested: Please help add the film's poster to this page. It can be found here: http://www.indiewire.com/article/watch-holocaust-filmmaker-gets-in-over-his-head-in-exclusive-claude-lanzmann-spectres-of-the-shoah-clip-20151013

- I suggest you refrain from editing that article any further. You have created a single purpose account with the apparent, yet undisclosed WP:Conflict of interest. If you continue along the same lines, I will report you to administration. The goal of Wikipedia is to provide reliable, nonpartisan information. It is not a company or personal website. Your account may be blocked, if the disruption continues. Poeticbent talk 22:23, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
My account is not single purpose, as even a cursory glance at my editing history would have revealed. I suggest that you should be the one to refrain from editing the post any further. Unless you are trolling the page, deleting verifiable, factual information from a Wikipedia page for undisclosed reasons is breach of the site's terms. I ask you again: Your comment that " nominations" are what "you" do, not what "they" do " is nonsensical - your actions appear to be those of a troll. Please explain or expand upon your thinking, or I will report you to the site's administration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JetBlackIris (talk • contribs) 22:41, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
Further to my prior comments, you may find this page helpful: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Dispute_resolution Note the following:
>When you find a passage in an article that is biased or inaccurate, improve it if you can; don't delete salvageable text. For example, if an article appears biased, add balancing material or make the wording more neutral. Include citations for any material you add. If you do not know how to fix a problem, ask for help on the talk page.
Again, you are asked to explain your actions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JetBlackIris (talk • contribs) 22:46, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi @Poeticbent: You reverted my edits adding the {{press}} template to article talk pages where they had been mentioned by The Jewish Press, saying that you removed link to a groundless and ugly attack page written by an anon, whoever you are
and also you gotta do better than that
. I think you may feel that I may be in some way agreeing with the article or I am that anonymous writer. I want you to know that I am not that writer and I don't agree or disagree with the article/article subject, I added the template because these are articles that have been mentioned by a newspaper with a circulation of 50,000 a week (according to the wiki page) and the template's documentation says that the template should be used for press sources which discuss Wikipedia as a project
. I feel that your removal of the templates may not be totally WP:NPOV, as this is removing a certain opinion from Wikipedia, possibly trying to remove that argument totally. Alright, it is by an anonymous writer, but still, it is a press source (which isn't a minor publication) which mentions a Wikipedia article. I just wanted to present my reasoning for adding the templates, that's all. Thanks. Seagull123 Φ 23:25, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
- Please don't take it personally. The web is full of anonymous attacks on Wikipedia entries. They are not worth mentioning. Among the pillars of Wikipedia are the reliable third-party sources which fully justify the removal of this sort of nonsense. Poeticbent talk 23:35, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Did I remove all this in one of my edits? I apologize in any case. Jonas Vinther • (Click here to collect your price!) 21:50, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

- Thanks, Kierzek, your edits are top notch. Thank you for removing the worst of the old original research from that article. I also hope that Jonas Vinther can learn something from that AN/I incident; namely, that it is not good enough to keep adding stuff without anchors and relying on others to fix their own shit. Our policy guidelines are definitely worth reading. The WP:DDE conduct issues which usually lead directly to AN/I per WP:REHASH include removing cited work provided by long established editors like us. Poeticbent talk 15:45, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comments as to my work. The article needs another pair of eyes so if you have the time, give it a look. Kierzek (talk) 16:50, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
- Will do. Thanks, Kierzek. But first, I need to find out what's happening with all this selective removal of sources. Poeticbent talk 20:06, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
- I know you are well aware by now of the ANI as to Jonas Vinther. I knew he would probably do himself in someday, but it has gone way beyond that now. All of his articles will have to be reviewed for NPOV, copy-edited and RS sources checked; if they can be. I have to agree with your comment that too much good faith was accepted/assumed. Kierzek (talk) 23:46, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the update, Kierzek. You are correct. His contributions will have to be redacted for the glaring absence of reliable third-party sources. Please look at the article histories, because all his major contributions were made without corresponding citations. The main challenge is that this is going to be time consuming. - Nick-D and K.e.Coffman have offered to re-work the section on The SS in WW II. Some changes and tweaks have already been done but as you will see on the talk page, the work on this section is far from finished. Kierzek (talk) 14:45, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Kierzek, sorry for a mild delay in responding to your post. What I do love about editing Wikipedia is that I can continue working on an article I just picked up, read books and documents in support of my research, and come back to the SS article when I'm finished with it, because all your new contributions will be there waiting for me in the article history to examine and comment on. No rush. Please, keep up the good work, Poeticbent talk 05:03, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

- Re West Prussia, that is a province created in 1939 in occupied Poland, the Polish corridor and Danzig. These Nazi figures include Poles, the search service base population for "Germans" is 1,105,338. The 1944 figure I suspect is based on ration cards. - My POV is very simple, I look at a stack of historical sources in the English language that say 2 million died, that is my straw man. On Wikipedia we need to explain why sources in German like Haar, the Hahn's, Nietschke and Overmans that say 500-600,000 are correct. We must assume most folks don't read German, so we need to present both sides of the argument and convince them that the figure of 2 million is historical myth. That's called a NPOV.--Woogie10w (talk) 02:05, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Names of cities
Hello. Can I ask you sir what are the results of the Gdańsk vote? It seems to me that the results themselves do not mention anywhere that the name Danzig must be included in the lead of the city's article. What is the method or the rules for deciding which names to include in the lead? It seems that some names have special status and are mentioned in the lead unlike others which remain only in the name or the etymology section. Why? Also cities in Poland have quite many German names in their leads, but if you add a Polish name of a city in Germany for example your revision is undone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:2430:3:2500:0:0:B807:3DA0 (talk) 10:54, 28 November 2015 (UTC)

Mistake on your user page
Hi. I was just browsing you user page and spotted a mistake. Per the source, Danah Boyd is (or was) based at MIT. The paper was presented at the University of Surrey. I thought you might like to know. Cordless Larry (talk) 10:21, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, Cordless Larry, your input is much appreciated. According to http://www.danah.org/bio.html followed by http://www.danah.org/danahCV.pdf:
Dr. boyd received a bachelor's degree in computer science from Brown University, a master's degree in sociable media from MIT Media Lab, and a Ph.D in Information from the University of California, Berkeley in 2008. She is ... a Visiting Professor at New York University (2011-present) including 2011-2014: Research Assistant Professor, and 2014-present: Visiting Professor. Her paper Sexing the Internet: Reflections on the Role of Identification in Online Communities was presented at the University of Surrey on 21- 22 June 2001 from MIT Media Lab.
- What do you think? Should we change it to MIT Media Lab or maybe, to the New York University? Poeticbent talk 13:56, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

DYK for Siedlce Ghetto
On 1 December 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Siedlce Ghetto, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Cypora Zonszajn could not live without her closest family and returned to the Siedlce Ghetto to perish along with them (deportation pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Siedlce Ghetto. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Revisiting
Hi, whatever happened after you posted this? The other editor had been disinvited from editing WWII topics, so perhaps it's a good time to revisit?" K.e.coffman (talk) 02:11, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
Recent addition to Waffen-SS foreign volunteers and conscripts
You added to this cited sentence at the end which now states: "At its peak, the Waffen-SS numbered almost a million men including Hitler Youth."ref name="Madej151".
The problem is, the Waffen-SS numbered over 800,000 men at its peak, per most sources in estimates and some estimates are even higher. I cannot preview your cite as Google books will not show it. The Hitler Youth were a separate branch of the Nazi Party and should not be counted as part of the Waffen-SS; which the end of the sentence now seems to imply. I look forward to your reply. Kierzek (talk) 23:02, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- I did not write "one million". Somebody else did. – Please look at the last paragraph in this snapshot of one page from Madej, under the heading Wartime Recruiting for the Waffen SS: Right in the middle of that paragraph the sentence reads: After 1943 a great amount of pressure was exerted on members of the Hitler Youth to 'volunteer' for the Waffen-SS. Perhaps you can find a better way of summarizing or explaining that statement. I don't know, but to me it looks like a historical fact. Poeticbent talk 04:31, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
- BTW, I received this snapshot (hand-made) along with several other pages from the book by W.V. Madej (1981), German Army Order of Battle 1939 - 1945 via gmail.com from Woogie10w. Perhaps he would like to chip in. Thanks in advance, Poeticbent talk 04:44, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
- It is the way it is written is the problem; it does not say, "volunteered for the Waffen-SS". I can tweak it. Thanks, Kierzek (talk) 12:47, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
- The 12th SS was named Hitler Jugend and was formed mainly from Hitler Jugend.
- As for the numbers, W.V. Madej implies that that was the total number who served in the SS. I know and respect W.V. Madej , he is a knowledgeable person.
- According to the Overmans study Deutsche militärische Verluste im Zweiten Weltkrieg on pages 159-166 the data base of the post war German search service Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) includes only those of "German ancestry" -"Deutsche nach Abstammung" , and foreign nationals in western Europe. Deutsche Dienststelle did not include files for non-Germans in eastern Europe. Overmans on page 257 estimated 900,000 served in the SS and 314,000 were war dead, excluding non-Germans in eastern Europe'. He went on to say that if 1,000,000 men served in the Waffen SS their casualty rate would be the same as the Army. Overmans noted that if the non-Germans "Nicht-Deutschen" "non-Germans" were included that would perhaps present a different picture. Overmans on page 214 put the Waffen SS strength at the end of the war at 500,000.--Woogie10w (talk) 11:49, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

Whatever happened to Good Faith?
Good evening, Poeticbent. Words like "dump", "claim" and the presumptions you have made about me are far from welcoming or friendly, and based on what evidence, please? If you are an example of old lags on Wikipedia, then I am not sure it's worth contributing or continuing. My suggestion to you is: get more rest and you may be less intemperate in your judgment. Just a heads up that I did click the "hotlink", I read the whole article and I couldn't see any kind of anti-Polish sentiment or "tenets of those operations" apparently living in his heart. The idea that the article sympathises with ex-Nazi secret police officers is bizarre. Rapido (talk) 18:54, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

Please see the talk page for this film to understand why you are incorrect, and why I have once again reverted your edit. AndrewOne (talk) 03:10, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
So should it get deleted?
Because of your edit at [10] File:Nazi Lithuanian poster.JPG is no orphaned and will be deleted shortly. I think it's a loss of valuable historical image, but I am not sure what other article would be appropriate for that. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 14:56, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
- The copyright claim on that image is fake. The poster could be reloaded from any online source directly into Commons. BTW, there's not enough info about who really published it, when, and why. Snyder remarks that probably it was published in 1941. Probably, but not a word about the publisher. The assertion, that the poster was published by the Germans is doubtful. Poeticbent talk 17:28, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
