MPM/MOM/EMM
[edit]I was involved in various arguably complex WP:AFD and WP:DRV discussions on MPM/MOM/EMM et al in 2019, starting from MPM (from my best memory). Not all such discussions may have had consistent outcomes. A key point may or may not need to be aware of is actual or possible WP:NEOLOGISM issues. You may wish to correspond with discussion closers or maybe even discussion contributors. You may follow my contributions in that period if it helps. I currently have no intention of helping beyond directing you to Wikipedia help facilities from links above or at WP:TEAHOUSE which I believe you have used before. Thankyou. Hi, Thank you. Of note, I have tried to recover the MOM pages and have asked them to be restored so I could edit them locally but was unsuccessful in that endeavor. I am happy to restart and edit it but really need some help in getting to it. Apparently I am doing this incorrectly as my efforts have been fruitless which is why I started over with Marketing Operations as an entry as that looked like the best way to accomplish it. Would you please provide specific instructions on how to do this if that is the recommendations? Thank you, Pete

Copies of Marketing Operations Management and Marketing Operations
[edit]Re: Your enquiry on Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Marketing operations management (2nd nomination)
- Versions of Marketing operations management are available from the history at [[:]] ... For example Old revision of Marketing operations management could be copied and edited locally.
- When ready the result can be cut and pasted over the top of the live redirect (providing you are the only editor) of could be submitted by AfC. Ask at WP:TEAHOUSE for any further help. Be aware any re-incarnation may be taken to DRV/AfD (theres also a possible issue of attribution history which could arise depending on how things are re-introduced to livespace but I won't cover that here).
- I see no history of any article named Marketing Operations [1]. If an article has been deleted (as opposed to redirect) then go through Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion (WP:REFUND). For a delete via an AfD discussion you would be expected to have contacted the closer first and given them 24/48h to answer first before going to WP:REFUND. If you are refused a copy you may raise a WP:DRV.
While I am (trying) to help you technically it does not mean I will not raise a WP:AFD/WP:DRV if they are returned to mainspace. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 23:14, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
- Please do not alter the page: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Marketing operations management. I would ask at the WP:TEAHOUSE if necessary as to what to do. I would suggest posting questions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Marketing & Advertising might also be a sensible route. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 03:41, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
Hi,
Can you clarify this deletion please? Is this a request to speedily delete the Marketing Operations entry or my personal Pmatthews21? I could use your guidance on this. If the former, I don't know how this article does not fit the criteria. I believe I have studied all the criteria and followed the guidelines. Please advise soonest. Thank you, Pete

Contested deletion
[edit]I believe (hope), I understand this now. Is this because it was a one line entry? If so, happy to update if you can provide guidance on what a user profile needs to be? Can I utilize my LinkedIn profile (i.e. cut & paste it into here or is there a format you would recommend that I can follow? Thank you for your guidance on this. Pete

This page should not be speedily deleted because... It contains a userbox COI --Djm-leighpark (talk) 10:09, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
First, I need clarification on what is being tagged as Speedy Deletion, please. If Marketing Operations, I believe it should remain as it is accurate, researched, provided facts from multiple sources and fits the guidelines as far as I can tell. Can you please provide specific reasons, what exact information does not meet the guidelines so it can be corrected? If it is Pmatthews21 User being deleted, can you please be specific as to why? I do apologize for any mistakes but I have studied the guidelines spent months doing research and so this is a bit frustrating. I am obviously doing this incorrectly and need some guidance so that it can be corrected to fit your guidelines. Please advise soonest and I will adjust. Thank you, Pete

Please help me with... Hi,
Is there a template or format I can use for my user page so I can better fit the WP guidelines? Can I use copies of other sources like my LinkedIn or biography synopsis? Or do you have a specific format that I can use? Thank you, Pete
Pmatthews21 (talk) 17:15, 18 September 2020 (UTC) Pmatthews21 (talk) 17:15, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- Pmatthews21, yes and no. Any user page can contain what you want and there is an array of helpful tools for that purpose but there's no preferred format. More importantly, however, a user page is not for promoting yourself so no, Linkedin and similar items are not acceptable. User pages are for
...organizing and aiding the work users do on Wikipedia, as well as facilitating interaction and sharing between users. User pages are mainly for interpersonal discussion, notices, testing and drafts (see: Sandboxes)...
Limited personal/biographical information can be included but it is not the place for pseudo-articles on oneself. I hope that helps. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 19:16, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for the clarification! This is my first time in doing this so not sure what to put. When I was researching and writing the Marketing Operations it asked/required me to identify myself. I am not trying to promote myself of anything but rather just trying to define marketing operations as it has become a readily available term, business position, function in the world of business. I do have a personal interest in marketing operations as I have worked in that field for many years, for the purpose of guiding others who are looking for a clear definition. I am not having a lot of interpersonal discussions right now but may get some as others come to add to the marketing operations page. That said, I am just not sure what I need to put in the profile that meets WP guidelines for identifying myself as per the requirement. Based on your comments, can I simply put the draft article of Marketing Operations in there and invite others to add/edit it? Would that be acceptable? Thanks again, Pete
Pmatthews21 (talk) 04:56, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
- Pmatthews21, having looked at Marketing operations management and Draft:Marketing Operations, I do not believe that merely having worked in this field previously qualifies under the WP:COI standards. The COI standard:
involves contributing to Wikipedia about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships.
The draft does not appear to do that but discusses marketing operations on a very abstract level. That said, it may also be that you are too close to the subject even if the COI guidelines aren't specifically applicable. The Marketing operations draft needs a lot of work. It is full of business-speak and marketing jargon, and the the first sentence, which is supposed to be a basic definition that any general reader can understand, reads like a corporate mission statement. The overall tone strikes me as a business case for explaining the need for marketing operations to a fellow business executive, probably in the US or UK. Instead, think about explaining what marketing operations does to a middle-school student in, say, India. The latter is just a likely the target audience here as the former. I hope that feedback helps. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 19:43, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
