F-105 combat audio
[edit]Thank you for sharing the F-105 combat audio clip. This is an outstanding piece of history! - Emt147 Burninate! 21:16, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Two comments:
- There is about 10 minutes of silence at the end of the clip (it's 29 minutes long for 18 minutes of audtio)
- Could you explain some of the terminology used by the pilots and WSOs? I can help you put it into Wikipedia format.
Again, thank you for sharing this! - Emt147 Burninate! 21:27, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Can you get rid of the silent ten minutes? I couldn't find out how (Roxio Audio Editor).
Yes I have the entire commentary writtten out in .rtf. I HAVE FAILED TO UPLOAD IT BECAUSE WIKI WILL NOT ACCEPT .doc or .rtf and I don't know what else to do or how to associate it with the previous uploaded audio.
I labeled this one Weasel_1 because there are at least six more. It takes me many hours to sanitize them, removing all the barnyard talk that men in combat typically use. ---plumalley
- One could even make an argument that all the "barnyard talk" should be left in for historical posterity.
Warriors are not aware of what they say in the heat of life-death battle. they can recognize their voices. I do not want them to be embarrassed in the peaceful freedom they have earned.
- I will gladly help you format the transcript. You can copy-paste it into User:Emt147/Weasel1 (just click on "create the article link", paste the text into the box, and save, and I will format it) or email me the rtf or doc file at emt147 (at) yahoo (dot) com. - Emt147 Burninate! 01:58, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
I was unable to find the "create article link". I attached the annotation to an e-mail.--plumalley
WikiSource
[edit]As suggested, a more appropriate location for the transcript is the Wikisource. This is a sister project to Wikipedia whose purpose is collect original documents such as your transcript (Wikipedia focuses more on the encyclopedic entries). I have moved the audio file and the transcript to WikiSource here: s:Wild Weasel mission transcript and I will create links to it from all relevant pages. Let me know if I can help in any other way! - Emt147 Burninate! 04:54, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- FYI, the Wild Weasel mission Wikipedia page will now redirect to the Wild Weasel page which will have a link to the WikiSource document. Sorry about the bureaucracy! :) - Emt147 Burninate! 04:58, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
DUPLICATION
[edit]I feel fortunate that Wiki has accepted my 18mb recording. I do not want to wear out my welcome. Know that I possess half a dozen more, each a unique event, perhaps containing something new. Considering server limits should we begin editing the second recording Weasel_2?
uploading more audio & transcripts
[edit]Thank you very much for contributing your Wild Weasel audio clip and transcript! It is really amazing to see a piece of history like that, and to have to provided by one of the people involved. As User:Emt147 said, the best place for this kind of thing is our sister project, WikiSource ( http://www.wikisource.org ). I will ask those people if they would be interested in more transcripts. Thanks again! FreplySpang (talk) 16:23, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Plumalley. I spoke with some of the folks from Wikisource, and they said that more clips & transcripts would be great. Once more, thanks for making this possible - I know it takes some effort, and we appreciate it! FreplySpang (talk) 00:15, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- I would be more than happy to help you convert the text and edit the page. Thank you! - Emt147 Burninate! 00:35, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
The second time will be far easier than the first. If I get hung up, I'll call for help--plumalley
F-105
[edit]Yes, the F-105 article needs a good copyedit. I'll get to it in the next day or so. Thanks! - Emt147 Burninate! 17:40, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
I have considerably expanded all sections of the F-105 Thunderchief. - Emt147 Burninate! 20:09, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Thule route map
[edit]I also added the map to the RB-47 section of the B-47 Stratojet page. Thank you for that very interesting bit of information! - Emt147 Burninate! 04:57, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
Chrome Dome
[edit]There is a section on Alert Duty in the B-52 Stratofortress article. I think the map would be appropriate there. The Incirclic map is again very interesting. One minor suggestion is to place links to images at the very top of the paragraph right under the heading title. That way, they will be visually associated with the text. Unfortunately my knowledge of aviation history lies more in the technical aspects than maps, airbases, and routes, so I'm afraid I'm of no help with Powers. - Emt147 Burninate! 04:36, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Another very interesting map, thank you! - Emt147 Burninate! 03:58, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Leo Thorsness
[edit]You know, I wondered if this was Maj Thorsness and Capt Johnson's mission when I first read the transcript. Thank you for sharing this incredible historical artifact! I have renamed the Wikisource article to Wild Weasel mission 19 April 1967 (the old "part 2" link will still work) and added some information and links to the Air Force Association article about the mission to that page. I have also linked the page from F-105 Thunderchief and from Leo K. Thorsness. - Emt147 Burninate! 19:50, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
5 November 1967
[edit]The audio came through fine, quite a gripping story. I'm looking forward to the transcript! - Emt147 Burninate! 04:23, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

I inquired about what was going on and here was the answer:
- No, the image still isn't in the public domain. The images in Google Maps/Earth are copyright to the company that did the aerial photography:
"The photographic imagery made available for display through Google Local is provided under a nonexclusive, non-transferable license for use only by you." -- Google Maps terms of service
- A recent discussion on the Village Pump concluded that screenshots Google Maps are only available for fair use on articles discussing Google Maps itself. Zetawoof(ζ) 01:18, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
I've saved copies of your four maps (Chrome Dome, Thule, RB-47, Incirclic) on my computer and I will re-create non-copyrighted versions for the articles. - Emt147 Burninate! 02:00, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Thank you
Transcript almost complete--Plumalley
- I replaced the Thule recon map with a public domain version based on some free maps on Wikipedia. (click for a larger version). - Emt147 Burninate! 03:15, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
OK, don't quit on me now. You've got seveal more to go.. They can be simple.--plumalley
- I'm working on it. They haven't found the other ones yet. :) - Emt147 Burninate! 03:35, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, all images done. I'll be happy to help with the maps in the future. - Emt147 Burninate! 04:39, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
Thud Ridge -- check my geography please!
[edit]Did I mark the correct ridge as the Thud Ridge? You can clearly see the airfield on the south end in Google images. - Emt147 Burninate! 05:37, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
Is this more or less right for approach routes?
[edit]How's this for approach routes? If I'm way off, could you make an image in Google Earth and send it to me so I can convert it to a non-copyrighted map? - Emt147 Burninate! 03:16, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Route from the West is OK Route from the East does NOT seek protection of the Ridge. It is a straight shot from just north of docks of Hy Pong to the target areas at, or east, of Hanoi. Route MUST miss China border by, I think it was, 20 ??? miles. That was the exclusion zone. Also, the route from the East was a Takhli route. Surprisingly, the distance is no longer. Tankers over the water, not over Laos. I "assume" your carrier suggestion to be reasonable. --Plumalley
Thud Ridge
[edit]You are right, it is an artistic assumption. I don't have any references discussing F-105 losses in great detail. - Emt147 Burninate! 19:32, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Comment at B-47
[edit]I concur that it seems like a simple miscommunication. The alternates available should probably reflect the actual bases or just the countries, but not a mish-mash of both. In any case, claims on Wikipedia need to be sourced. If you need assistance finding such a source, I don't recommend me, I'm just a young crew dog (see my user page). However, I can highly recommend User:Mark_Sublette. This guy seems to have all the info on AF stuff. — BQZip01 — talk 22:13, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
William Lee Stoddart
[edit]Thank you for the offer of a photograph. The dilemma is that Wikipedia is very sensitive about copyright issues, especially where images are concerned. You could upload a photo you have taken yourself. Or, if the photo was taken 1922 or earlier, the copyright (if any) would have expired. Otherwise, I don't see how we can add a photo.
Would you send me an email? Go to [1] and look for "Email this user" on left hand side. I hope to hear from you. Canadian2006 (talk) 06:19, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
- Let's try this again. This is a slightly different webpage - click here: [2] On that webpage, there is a clickable link in the center that says "Click here to send me an email." From Canadian2006 (talk) 22:19, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Sabra.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Plumalley, Georgian Terrace
[edit]Plumalley, I have so many questions. I uploaded two photos, one of the Georgian Terrace and one of the Ponce de Leon Apartments, both, of course, in Atlanta. (I'll get better photos this spring - the Ponce has just removed the scaffolds that were in front of it for two years as they've done some refurb/stabilization.) I give walking tours in Atlanta and talk about three of your grandfather's buldings, the two I mentioned included. The Georgian Terrace, in particular, has a lot of history associated with it. The birth place of Arthur Murray's dance studios in the 20s (he was a student at Georgia Tech), the Gone With the Wind gala in 1939 with stars Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh attending, among others, a mafia hit in the 20s, and a George Clooney commercial shot there in 2007 for El Torro vodka. I'd love to create, or help you create a page on Wikipedia for this amazing hotel. Message me via my talk page if interested.Carsonmc (talk) 05:34, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
Stoddart
[edit]Plumalley, I wasn't trying to contact you for your knowledge or interest in architecture, but rather the fact that you are Stoddart's step-grandson. That's all. Carsonmc (talk) 18:21, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
