This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Ernst Schering Prize, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.scheringstiftung.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=38&Itemid=28&lang=en.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Speedy deletion nomination of Robert Daglish
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Robert Daglish requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.bbc.co.uk/lancashire/content/articles/2008/05/30/history_michael_graves.shtml and http://daglishfamily.blogspot.com/2007/04/daglish-foundry-st-helens.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - I've moved your message from User talk:Anon126/R. I'd prefer a response on the same page as my original message; sorry if that was unclear. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 02:02, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Anon126: Is this some sort of joke? I get a message from you advising me that an article I wrote has been flagged for deletion and within hours it has disappeared, even before I could see what you were complaining about. In my view that is a grave misuse of whatever power you seem to have acquired and adds to the list of reasons why I should sever my contact with the sitePlucas58 (talk) 18:50, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- Anyone has the ability to flag articles, but only trusted users known as administrators can delete them, after verifying that it meets the criteria. Clear copyright violations especially are deleted very quickly, because they are considered serious breaches of policy (mainly because they create a legal liability).
- I'm sorry that you weren't given a chance to discuss this, but the legal ramifications dominate in this case. The administrator who deleted this page, CambridgeBayWeather can confirm that the page was copied almost entirely from the two sources I mention. Somerhill House
[edit]@Mjroots: Why???? Plucas58 (talk) 22:46, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Plucas58: English Heritage are the listing authority in the UK. They state that the house itself is Grade I. Other structures within the estate are Grade II, as detailed in the article. Mjroots (talk) 06:19, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
- You're absolutely right, of course. I'm sorry about that. It was caused, like all disasters, by a series of misunderstandings. The Somerhill article wasn't recognised by Grade I listed buildings in Kent, English Heritage (now Historic England) called it Somerhill, not Somerhill House, but listed the park under Somerhill House instead and the links in the wiki article regarding the grading don't work. Lastly, although as the article says, Somerhill is near Tonbridge, it is actually in Tunbridge Wells district.Plucas58 (talk) 12:00, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
- I'll have a look at the links tomorrow. Looks like some reorganisation of website has taken place, the info is still readily available. The aircrash in France has kept me busy this evening. Mjroots (talk) 23:09, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

George Kokines
[edit]Regarding your proposal to edit the George Kokines page, I think you have already changed it. I should have George Kokines listed for the Mr and Mrs Frank G. Logan Art Institute Prize ($500-$2000) awarded at the Chicago and Vicinity annual exhibition. I have copies of articles from the Chicago Tribune which describe the winning of the exhibition which included prize money as well as , the original booklet of the show, and the actual engraved medal. Perhaps you can tell me. was a medal also given for the Chicago area prize separate from the international prize? Thanks Annako6 (talk) 02:17, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- The Chicago Art Institute held both an International Exhibition and a Chicago and Vicinity Exhibition (restricted to local artists) every year. There were also various etchings and drawings exhibitions. The Logans supplied the cash for the prizes for all of them. I'm not sure whether any medals were involved.Plucas58 (talk) 10:16, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

Copyright Violation Detection - EranBot Project
[edit]A new copy-paste detection bot is now in general use on English Wikipedia. Come check it out at the EranBot reporting page. This bot utilizes the Turnitin software (ithenticate), unlike User:CorenSearchBot that relies on a web search API from Yahoo. It checks individual edits rather than just new articles. Please take 15 seconds to visit the EranBot reporting page and check a few of the flagged concerns. Comments welcome regarding potential improvements.
Erabot was suspicious of your edit [1]. Always add notes in edit summaries for interwiki information moves.

Lister Medal
[edit]Hi there. I'm leaving you this note to let you know that I've corrected the entry you made at Lister Medal for 2015. The name you added was the recipient of an annual surgical student award. The more prestigious Lister Medal is not awarded every year, but it turns out that it has been awarded again this year. I've also left this note on the talk page. Carcharoth (talk) 00:32, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- A regrettable lapse on my part- thanks for putting it right. Wouldn't want the great Magdi Yacoub's medal hi-jacked by a med student before he even got it.Plucas58 (talk) 10:47, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- Not sure if the page is still on your watchlist, but dropping off a note to point out that I've added some images to the Lister Medal page, though sadly my photo of the recent presentation wasn't that great. I had thought of going to the awarding ceremony for the Frink Medal in June earlier this year, but didn't manage to get to that in the end. At least that one is every year, though the early history of that is not at all well documented. Carcharoth (talk) 22:24, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Attorney-General of Trinidad and Tobago
[edit]I see you've put together an article on the Attorney-General of Trinidad and Tobago. I wonder whether you know anything about another office that once existed — the Attorney General of the Leeward Islands, who used to exercise jurisdiction over much of the British Caribbean. I know that Henry Spencer Berkeley once held the office, but I have not been able to find any list of its occupants, either on Wikipedia or elsewhere on the Internet. If you have access to this kind of information, I wonder if you could create an article (even if it's only a stub). Thanks! David Cannon (talk) 15:24, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Colonial Judges
[edit]Hi Plucas58, Some time ago I created the lists of Chief Justice of Fiji and of the Western Pacific At the time I briefly considered how they would fit into some over-arching category, but didn't know much about WP back then; I have just created Template:Chief Justices of British overseas territories , which I feel might provide a more comprehensive overview than Template:Chief Justices of Commonwealth countries, of which they appear to be a ready-documented subset. >MinorProphet (talk) 12:01, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hi- Your template is admirably definitive, which is certainly what's needed in such a tricky area. Countries, titles, courts and people seem to flit in and out of the historical record like shadows. So I will substitute your template for the current one. I would want to introduce into your template new wikilinks to specific Chief Justice articles like Chief Justice of Cyprus.
I feel I am running out of steam on this topic - although I might do the best I can with Grenada Justices before I move on (and maybe a few biographies). What is interesting is how difficult it is to draw up these lists of Attorneys General or Chief Justices- you'd imagine they were freely available. Just another area where Wikipedia is the ONLY easily available source of info.Plucas58 (talk) 12:35, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- Please don't give up! You've done a lot of good work, which I very much appreciate. Every gap you've filled makes it just that much less difficult to fill the remaining gaps. David Cannon (talk) 12:48, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- I have updated some of the links in your template to go direct to Chief Justice pages and have a couple of queries:
- (i) Should Trinidad and Tobago be in the template list as separate entities prior to merger in 1889 ?
- (ii)I have British Honduras kicking off in 1862- but you have 1871
Plucas58 (talk) 14:07, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- When I was making my original lists of the Fiji/Western Pacific CJ's (my original interest was sparked by Maxwell Anderson: it took me an unhurried month to piece together the semblance of a usable list), I wondered about the likelihood of anyone wanting to create a complete list of the (mostly) men who ran the British Empire (RIP), and my mind boggled. Nevertheless, it now seems slightly more likely: I find redlinks in templates more inviting than redlinks in the middle of articles. It would be a major (yet simultaneously trivial) undertaking to correlate the British Empire template with existing lists of Governors- & Attorneys- General, CJ's, Colonial Secretaries etc.; but I know very well that unless there is some relatively top-level agreement (however vague) of how these lists could be synchronised, the enterprise will certainly fall to pieces in a year or so, or less. I sense that the need for synchronisation should be emphasised (for future editors) in every template (like the Chief Justice) based on similar lines.
- I think a starting point for the CJ template would be to link all entries for any entity in the template (random examples, Nigeria or Malaysia) to the most complete list of CJs available. This could be a current or former colony/entity/state.
- As far as dates of individual entities (Trinidad and Tobago, Honduras) are concerned, I simply grabbed the template Template:British overseas territories and changed its name and title. Otherwise I have no opinion at the moment, but let's not blast away at minor inconsistencies before finding an over-arching sense of what can be achieved: namely, lists of Civil Servants and the judiciary of the entire British Empire (RIP). It's an incredibly wide-ranging subject, but relatively easily defined, since the records are all there on the interwebs, eg The India List. Is there an Africa List? I suspect not. :>MinorProphet (talk) 16:57, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- For example, I am not quite capable of reconciling Territorial evolution of the British Empire and e.g.
[[Category:Governance of the British Empire]]
, with my ideas expressed (as if from under a stone) above. Any ideas? >MinorProphet (talk) 17:30, 28 September 2015 (UTC)- Hi. I agree that an overall structure needs to be imposed on the Colonial administrators. The articles have grown like Topsy with lists of incumbents buried in unexpected places.
- I have created an Attorney General template as a mirror of your Chief Justice one and will try to round up as many Chief Justice and Attorney General lists as possible. Presumably a similar template could be done for Governors/Governor Generals too.
- You mentioned Nigeria as an example. Ironically the Nigeria list of CJs only goes back to independence with no Colonial content. I will look at what can be done. The Gibraltar article had no list of past CJs at all but I fixed that. Hopefully we can get to a point where all the colonial administrators can be listed within an appropriate article and pointed at from the new templates.Plucas58 (talk) 10:34, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
- I have now just about completed the lists of Chief Justices for every colonial outpost except the American colonies which I am about to look at. I guess I've included about 2 or 3 hundred names so far. Its about 90% complete so it will be interesting to see if anyone can come up with the missing names. I will also see if I can do some biographies of the leading characters for a change. I had to make quite a few improvements to existing ones along the way. And some of them were vitually orphans - no-one could find them by following a link.Plucas58 (talk) 13:51, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of John Green (meteorologist)
[edit]A tag has been placed on John Green (meteorologist) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Edgeworth David Medal
[edit]OK, Edgeworth David Medal is now an article. You have made a good start, but it needs more work. The only citation is to the RSNSW article, so it is not independent. What sources say that this medal is notable? Mostly such medals are not notable and they are best covered in the parent article, not in a separate article. --Bduke (Discussion) 23:16, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
If subject notability was a vital consideration on Wikipedia then there would only be a few thousand articles on English wikipedia, not 5 million. As you know there are hundreds of articles on cricketers that played one game, footballers that played in division 6, pop people who made one record, villages with 6 houses and so on. The strength of wiki is that you can find this obscure information in one place, linked to other articles as appropriate to provide a complete picture.Plucas58 (talk) 00:19, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
- It looks as if you do not understand the term "notability" on wikipedia. I suggest you read Wikipedia:Notability before you create more new pages. The key point is "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article". Edgeworth David Medal does not have a cite that is independent of the subject and I see not evidence of significant coverage in reliable sources. You need to address this or it will be nominated for deletion. --Bduke (Discussion) 02:05, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

List of Mills in Bolton
[edit]In response to an email, I have had an offer from David Dixon saying that we may use every photo credited to him on the St Marks Site. I am trying to get my head round the OTRS system before doing an transfer of most of them to commons. I hope to put together template that can be used to include the main details. Great images and a great precedent.
We already have the commons:Textile mills in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton category where we can place them, and we can create a new category commons:Photos by Mr. David Dixon to keep them all together.
He also going to pass over to me some scans of a book (copyrighted) from where he got a lot of his information. “The Cotton Mills of Bolton 1780-1985” by James H Longworth ISBN-13: 978-0906585184 sadly it has held its price on Amazon at 17.14 +2.80
Great news- now I have a bit of work to do. -- Clem Rutter (talk) 10:31, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
Sounds good. Can you confirm that pics of spinning mills belong in the Textile mills in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton category.Plucas58 (talk) 13:19, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
- When I set up the Commons categories there were several naming options. At the end of a weaving sheds life, they were weave just about anything to keep the looms working- it may have started doing calico, but the looms would also do polyester and other artificials- different parts of the shed would run different contracts- a bit like room and power mill must have been. So it had to be Textile mills in ... not Cotton mills in ..... It was fairly clear to me that a mill spun, and a shed wove but many firms ran combined mills, so we had to stick with mills to include both. Once we had done that for one town, consistency demanded it was the same elsewhwere. I have the hot cat extension/tool so I can move any false positives fairly easily. -- Clem Rutter (talk) 15:49, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

List of mills - wonderful work.
[edit]I have just added this code to the List of mills in Stockport as a sample of how to use {{lbe}} and a method that I have just discovered to find all the listed building in an area. The listing is so useful for generating a description!
- Use of A {{lbe|1067162|grade=II|location=Stockport|lbe-no-cat=true}}. See https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/map-search?clearresults=True for easy way to find mills in a town
After working almost alone on this page since 10 January 2009- I appreciate the contribution you are now making.ClemRutter (talk) 00:26, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi. Not sure about this code. I don't get to the Historic England article when I click on the citation. I did use something similar myself on the List of mills in Oldham page, where it generated a white box and did lead to the Historic England article OK. One person complained so I didn't pursue. I don't want to be accused of pushing the listed building theme. At least two listed buildings on the Historic England list have been demolished in Wigan recently so it may not mean as much as we like to think.
As far as a map showing the mills is concerned the
facility which is in most of the lists of mills (now including Bolton) also does that job.Plucas58 (talk) 10:47, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

Chamberlain of the Exchequer
[edit]You're welcome to work on that page and/or move it to mainspace. The data comes from Sir John Sainty's Officers of the Exchequer, Special Series #18 of the List & Index Society, pub. 1983.
The history of the office is rather convoluted. The original officers were the representatives of the Lord Great Chamberlain in the Exchequer; one of these offices probably dated to the Conquest or before, while another appears somewhere in the 1100s. Both offices were serjeanties, associated with particular manors, and their holders are hence sometimes referred to as "Chamberlains in Fee". The junior chamberlaincy, associated with the manor of Highworth, was forfeited to the crown in 1290; the senior chamberlaincy, associated with the manor of Hanslope, was independently held until 1483, when it too merged with the crown on the accession of Richard III.
From a fairly early period, the chamberlains in fee (who nominally represented the LGC) were accustomed to appoint deputies to represent them in the Exchequer. There is at least one record, early in the reign of Edward I, of the appointment of *two* deputies, one for the Exchequer of Pleas and the other for the Exchequer of the Receipt (upper and lower Exchequer, respectively). As time went on, the business of these deputies seems to have become exclusively concentrated in the Receipt, and they become known as the Chamberlains of the Receipt. These are the office-holders listed on my page; the first column represents deputies appointed by the junior or Fitzgerald Chamberlains in Fee; the second column represents deputies of the senior (Mauduit, Beauchamp, or Warwick) Chamberlains in Fee, and by the Crown as these dignities devolved upon it.
Dialogus de Scaccario, pp. xxvi–xxviii, and Madox may be of some use here. Choess (talk) 16:50, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comprehensive reply. I think you've just about written the article here already. But I will pick up the baton and run with it, so far as I can. It seems to be one of the few remaining British courtier positions which haven't been dealt with so far. Unfortunately, at this moment I don't have any appropriate sources to cope with the "convolutions". Maybe a visit to Manchester Library would help. However, I am of the belief that people who look up articles on Wikipedia do so for a quick simple answer rather than to write a Ph.D thesis.Plucas58 (talk) 17:06, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
- Sorting out the origins of the office and whether it really was a serjeanty (or if that was just Round's conceit does indeed look terribly complicated. For the time being, I've launched it into mainspace as Chamberlain of the Exchequer. Thanks, by the way, for your diligent work on the lists of sheriffs over the past several years. Some day we'll get them locked down. Choess (talk) 05:48, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

Devonshire Regiment
[edit]Hi - Do you have a source for your list of colonels of the Devonshire Regiment? Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 21:44, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi - Likewise West Yorkshire Regiment, East Yorkshire Regiment, Lancashire Fusiliers and Green Howards. It would be a pity to have to retag these articles as unreferenced especially when it has taken years to get them moved up the assessment scale. thanks. Dormskirk (talk) 22:00, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- OK,OK. I will have a look at providing an indication of the sources for the items you list. But the lists are basically just indexes cross-referencing to existing wiki articles and contain very little information that is not already on wikipedia, so I cannot see why it is so important for them to be separately referenced. It has however been a useful exercise in dealing with the many omissions and errors in those individual articles (about the Colonels themselves)Plucas58 (talk) 00:20, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
- I see you have provided a citation for the Devonshire list. That was the source I used as you probably deduced.Plucas58 (talk) 00:51, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
- Wow. I hadn't realised that that site (regiments.org) had lists for all the regiments. I will make more use of it in future. I found it perfectly reliable for Devonshire so I'll check my other lists against their's to make sure the citations you have kindly provided are valid. If we quote this site in all cases then I guess the job is donePlucas58 (talk) 01:16, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of 3 Irish senior clergy
[edit]Hi, User:Plucas58 User:Fram has issued deletion proceedings against three of my articles: Edward Hoare (priest), Michael John Keatinge and Usher Lee I cannot see anywhere how I respond to these. As a Wikipedean who has beavered away with a few other stalwarts, such as yourself, I find this perplexing. This issue has been raised several times and each time the consensus seems to be that Anglican Archdeacons and Deans are notable by office. Many thanks in anticipation for any help you can give Bashereyre (talk) 19:31, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
- I know how you feel-its happened to me a few times. My instinctive reaction is to say "Since when has being a dean not been notable? And where does that leave all the other similar articles on deans and archdeacons? Are they to be wiped out in a mass slaughter?" The truth is I have no solution to your problem but I will lend support when the process goes public. User:PBS, (an inveterate documentor of the Anglican church, has already given some help by upgrading the citations (of Usher Lee). I suspect you have contacted him, but if not, you should.Plucas58 (talk) 20:58, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
- My comments were my own (just saw this thread through the ping). However I acted before it. Do not contact me Bashereyre, I do not want a conflict of interest/solicitation accusation. -- PBS (talk) 21:02, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages
[edit]Thank you for your recent articles, including XIII Army Corps (Wehrmacht), which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 12:06, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
WikiProject Military History
[edit]Hey Plucas, I am just leaving this in regard to the articles you are creating under the auspices of WikiProject Military History, such as those relating to regiments of the British Army during the 18th century. When you add the {{WPMILHIST|no=yes}} tag, please also add the associated task forces that the article belongs to. It is a minor thing and doesn't take much time to add for external editors, but there is a significant backload that we are trying to crack down on, so adding those tags would certainly help in eliminating that. It is not that it is a lot of time for me and other organizational editors to change, but if you are making the article it just saves a couple of minutes for us to assess and tag articles that are a bit more unloved and have little to no active editing. You may already know this, considering the huge number of edits you have and contributions (something like 100x more than me :) ), but the associated task forces for such articles would be {{WPMILHIST|British=y|Revolutionary=y}} [Depending on the article, of course]. If you could also self-assess for these articles, considering none are near B status, that would also help with the many articles that have not yet been assessed. Cheers and thanks a bunch! Hi, I note that you you have edited the above due to it no longer being a listed building. I don't dispute the accuracy of this, but do you know have any online source for the decision? All I could find was that Historic Environment Scotland now have 'page not found' in the relevant place. A search of 'decisions' on their site found no results, annoyingly. I am a bit concerned by the change due to the imminent housebuilding work in the vicinity of the castle (see my previous edits and refs in the article). I would like to make the local community council aware of the change in case it is makes the building more vulnerable to development (I see it is still a Historic Monument). Since you are very knowledgeable in the field, and in the absence of any explanatory paperwork in the meantime, can you think of any common reason why this delisting could have taken place? Thanks for any insight you can offer. Regard. Crowsus (talk) 12:23, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
- Hi. The most likely reason is that Historic Environment Scotland seem to have a program of removing duplicate designation i.e. either designating a site/building a listed building or a scheduled site, rather than both. I am no expert but scheduling the site seems to be the most powerful, in that it preserves the site for possible archeological investigation in the future. Listing a building only protects the building itself. To what extent they can prevent development nearby in either case I am not qualified to say.Plucas58 (talk) 15:37, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Two things:
[edit]1. If you check Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets → Display links to disambiguation pages in orange, then you will probably not get bothered by disambig bots again (unless you like it).
2. Many moons ago, I copied an existing template which is now (thanks to your perseverance) Template:Chief Justices of British overseas territories. I reckon there is only one red link remaining. I would be honoured if you were to pillage my rough notes, and create the relevant article, although there may have been a little hasty pasting: less is probably more, etc.

Are Archdeacons notable by office?
[edit]Hi, can I ask you to look at this Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wandlyn SnelgroveBashereyre (talk) 13:29, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
Whilst I personally think the article should stay for completeness it has to be admitted that the articles on the last two Archdeacons of Fredericton are a bit sparse and you are obviously getting towards the bottom of the barrel. I would just let them be deleted and move on. You haven't lost much. The same happened to me on the Chief Constables of England. Some of the better known were accepted, the more obscure were deleted. You could also do the suggested list article for Archdeacons of Fredericton, even though its a repeat of your template. At least it would be somewhere to park the basic facts such as dates of office. Lastly I am not convinced that Archdeacons these days are notable by office.Plucas58 (talk) 14:54, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

Technically the article name doesn't matter as long as there are appropriate redirects to get you there (which there are). Change the name by all means- unless you know a better way this will involve cutting and pasting the article page to the redirect page and converting the article page to a redirect. Not a big job.Plucas58 (talk) 13:40, 9 September 2018 (UTC)

It's only a list because you made it a list! It wasn't a list before; it was a disambiguation page. Note that the redlinks on your list probably aren't notable and are formatted wrongly in any case. They should be FirstName MarriedName, Duchess of Sutherland, always our style for the wives of peers. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:20, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
A contributor from Wales is methodically working through the British duchesses as part of a project to increase the profile of women on Wikipedia. The redlinks were a guide to outstanding personalities. But I have taken your point and redefined them as you suggest and removed the redlinks in case she also agrees they are not (yet) notable. However, if a list of duchesses is to be considered a disambiguation page, then shouldn't you also consider the hundreds of articles on Archbishop of X, High Sheriff of Y and Governor of Z as being disambiguation articles?Plucas58 (talk) 13:37, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
- The point is that it wasn't previously a list of duchesses. It was merely a disambiguation page featuring those duchesses on whom we already had articles. Wives of peers are not inherently notable (spouses of notable people are never inherently notable in their own right). Bishops, etc, are. That's the difference. I do hope this editor is not assuming that all these people are notable just by dint of being married to someone who was notable? It is true that many duchesses will be, given their high social status, but certainly not all. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:45, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
Many thanks indeed for Court Farmhouse. You don't have any more of the missing ones, by any chance? I'm going down in November with the plan of knocking off the remaining 30 - was 31 until your contribution - and it would be most helpful if there were just a few fewer left. Then the articles just need to be written... Thanks and regards. KJP1 (talk) 21:20, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
Best I could do - but a more specific photo of Court Farmhouse wouldn't actually come amiss. At least you can park there I imagine (not like in Bolton). In my limited experience farmers (or more often their wives) love showing off their old farmhouses if you chat them up. Best of luck in the hunt. And best of fortitude in writing the articles.Plucas58 (talk) 21:41, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
- My experience too. In taking over 100 of the Grade II* photos, I'd only had one instance where the owner really wasn't happy. Other than that, people do tend to appreciate the interest, and I always offer to email them the link when I've done the article. The bigger problem with farms/barns is that they're often at the end of long, private, drives. All the best. KJP1 (talk) 06:52, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
Thank you very much for helping out on my first article Picklechild (talk) 00:55, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
- No problem. Glad you're taking it in the spirit it was intended. "Packaging sells product" as I imagine they say in the retail trade and the sooner one learns all the tricks the better for all. I am on Wikipedia most days and if I can help you with anything else-finding pictures or suchlike-don't be afraid to ask. Or do what I do-find a similar article and crib the best bits.
- Best of luck for future articles. I obviously don't know where you will go next but if listed Leicestershire churches are your thing then you must look at Grade I listed buildings in Leicestershire or Grade II* listed buildings in Leicestershire.
