Quotation marks on Wikipedia

[edit]

Hello Platosghostlybeard. A quick note about your recent edit on Hell of a Book: per the style guide entry at MOS:LQUOTE, Wikipedia uses logical quotation, which means that punctuation is only placed inside quotation marks when (a) the punctuation is part of the original quoted material, and (b) the quoted material is a full sentence, not a word, phrase, or sentence fragment. So in this instance, the original punctuation was correct. Ruбlov (talkcontribs) 12:42, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you insert a spam link. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines.

A large proportion of your edits are devoted to adding citations to and discussions of the work of a single academic. See e.g. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

You should also be aware of our policy on WP:COI (conflict of interest). Thanks,

Referencing

[edit]

I notice in your summary in your edit of Soul, you mentioned "I included proper citations". You may find Help:Introduction to referencing with Wiki Markup/3 helpful, as it explains how to quickly and easily produce fully formed citations on Wikipedia. Your first one began "For more on the basic meaning of the Greek word, see ..." which on Wikipedia means that it is not so much a reference supporting the statement but an explanatory note, for which you may find Help:Footnotes#Footnotes: predefined groups and eventually Help:Shortened footnotes helpful. Happy editing! NebY (talk) 15:42, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much! This is very kind and helpful. I will review the resources shortly. Platosghostlybeard (talk) 16:15, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
