Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from 2012 Negros earthquake into San Agustin Church (Lubao). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 22:26, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hi thanks for the comment. But, I didn't even seen 2012 Negros earthquake before. When you mentioned it, that's the only time that I went to their Wiki page. Please enlighten me, which texts from 2012 Negros earthquake did I copy. thank you. PhilipNalangan (talk) 01:13, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- I was referring to this edit. Correction: the content came from 2019 Luzon earthquake. Sorry for the mistake. — Diannaa (talk) 13:09, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- thanks, in future edits, will include that remarks in "edit summary". best. PhilipNalangan (talk) 13:36, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

Hello. Your recent edit appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. asilvering (talk) 05:47, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Philippine cathedral articles
[edit]Hello. I noticed you have created several Catholic church articles. Could you also help create some of the missing Catholic cathedral articles listed in List of cathedrals in the Philippines (also listed in WikiProject Philippines)? Would really appreciate it. Thanks. Sanglahi86 (talk) 15:24, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- That's ok. I will cover those religious buildings with national landmark/cultural markers only, as they need some article and there are reference available online. I'll go with churches, then cathedrals later. Thanks PhilipNalangan (talk) 02:44, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Calabanga Church
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Calabanga Church requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2770658/church-of-calabanga. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Moriwen (talk) 17:26, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

- Note - I have declined the speedy deletion as the source is public domain. However, when copying a public domain source, you must still provide attribution. This edit shows how it is done. -- Whpq (talk) 18:50, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Good catch, thanks! My bad on missing that.— Moriwen (talk) 19:01, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello PhilipNalangan! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source.
You must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. Read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.- Aside from limited quotation, you must
put all information in your own words and structure
, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research. - We have strict guidelines on the usage of
copyrighted images
. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images
must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse. - If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the
release of content
must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. - Also note that
Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution
. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Our policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 18:48, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
Sandbox
[edit]Please note that sandbox pages such as your User:PhilipNalangan/sandbox are not allowed to be filed in mainspace categories alongside real finished articles. Categories must stay off the page while it's in sandbox, and may be added only if and when you're actually moving the content into a real article in mainspace. Since I've already had to remove the page from categories three times, please note that it cannot be in categories, and that you can potentially be editblocked for disruption if you continue to readd it to categories. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 17:16, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

Regarding historical markers for churches
[edit]Hi! I noticed that you have been creating new articles for various churches. Thank you for writing these articles. I would just like to note that historical markers do not necessarily confer National Historical Landmark status on the marked site/building. If you go to NHCP's registry, you can see on the right sidebar that there are two levels: Level I and Level II. Level I status are things like National Historical Landmarks, National Shrines, and National Monuments. While Level II status are simply marked sites (has a historical marker) and aren't national landmarks in any sense unless stated otherwise by the marker or an official NHCP Board Resolution. —seav (talk) 03:39, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

Reviving the PH history taskforce
