uploading the image
Greetings, I have noticed that my image from newly created article, Hunting the Lion has been removed. I have no idea how can I upload the image without availing it to the public domain? Can you please suggest me? I appreciate your efforts to make wiki policy fair. Thanks and Best Regards, --Maharshi675 (talk) 08:43, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Maharshi675, a lot depends on the permission that you have to use the image. If the permission was given in written form, I suggest you email Wikipedia at info-en-o@wikimedia.org explaining the situation. PhilKnight (talk) 22:00, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Another AfD to delete
Hello again, PhilKnight ... when you closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Professional Crossword Generator, you neglected to delete Professional Crossword Software (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), which was included in the same AfD. :-)

What do you mean by tagged as single purpose? Schuym1 (talk) 03:23, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Schuym1, have a look at Wikipedia:Single-purpose account.--PhilKnight (talk) 03:25, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- I know what single purpose is. What do you mean by tagged? Schuym1 (talk) 03:26, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- I put a {{spa}} tag after the user's view. PhilKnight (talk) 03:28, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- I just saw that. KingVitamin is a guy I know online, who's made anonymous contributions here before. When I told him about the AfD, it prompted him to finally register an account. I'm sure he'll be weighing in on far more topics than this one... ;-) Zephyrad (talk) 03:30, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

TfD nomination of Template:User talk header
Template:User talk header has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. Byeitical (talk · contribs) 03:31, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Byeitical, you could have just slapped it with a
{{db-house}}
and then told me, but I guess this is just as good.--PhilKnight (talk) 03:36, 30 August 2008 (UTC)- Meh, I'm new with this stuff. Thanks for the advice. Byeitical (talk · contribs) 03:37, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
About Flower (Bambi)
I was reflecting on how some of the pages about Walt Disney's Bambi franchise had links to the article Flower (Bambi), even though it did not exist. I was going to put a redirect from there to the original 1942 film article, but seeing as how you originally deleted that page, I thought it would be best to check with you first. MarioLOA (talk) 15:47, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi MarioLOA, creating a redirect would be fine. PhilKnight (talk) 16:37, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you again, but I just got a notice from an auto bot on my talk page, and was wondering about it. MarioLOA (talk) 17:57, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
This user is requesting unblocking. Hersford had give him/her a {{2nd chance}} but Hersford is apparently away from Wikipedia for a while. As the blocking admin, could you take a look? Mangojuicetalk 18:27, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Mangojuice, thanks for letting for letting me know. If you, or any other admin, decides to unblock that would be perfectly ok. PhilKnight (talk) 18:32, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
User NonZionist
NonZionist (talk · contribs) seems like they are a returning user possibly one of many banned from Palestine-Israeli articles. Any ideas? I'm concerned about their user name, user page and comments. Banjeboi 15:47, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Benjiboi, sorry but no ideas. Looking at the editor's talk page, HG appears to be handling this situation, so I think my role will be limited to supporting him. PhilKnight (talk) 19:56, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your note of confidence, I've replied. And feel free to let me know if I should be responding to NonZionist (or other situations) differently. thanks again, HG | Talk 21:31, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- No prob. I saw someone deleted the userpage and I have a request in at usernames board to see if that's as issue as well. Banjeboi 02:13, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Merge Help
You helped me once before with a merge, and was hoping you could help me again. I placed a merge tag on the following article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bar_fine a few weeks ago and there are no objections so wanted to do the merge but dont know how and hope you can do it please, kind regardsSusanbryce (talk) 17:33, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Susan, I've made an attempt. PhilKnight (talk) 22:32, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Nikki Creswell
I can see you've deleted the article on Nikki Creswell. Would you be so kind and recreate it temporarly (I know it's possible) so just to copy it and place in my Talk Page. Thank you in advance (Kyleall (talk) 21:46, 1 September 2008 (UTC))
- Hi Kyleall, I've created a temporary version at User:Kyleall/Nikki Creswell.--PhilKnight (talk) 22:33, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi,
the original creator of Carpent tua poma nepotes, User:Petercorless, has asked for a deletion review on my talk page (I was the AfD nominator). He gives reasons for it on his talk page. Never having taken part in a deletion review, I am not sure how to handle that request. I think that the outcome of the discussion was pretty clear and does not need to be reopened. It would be nice if you as the closing admin could deal with that.
Regards,
Gunnar Hendrich (talk) 07:15, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Gunnar, thanks for informing me, and I'll respond to the deletion review. PhilKnight (talk) 07:27, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, Gunnar and Phil. I'm off for a few hours; I hope to hear back later today or maybe in the next few days. I want to be able to document this expression, "Carpent tua poma nepotes," and link it into other Roman history pages which emphasize the long-term thinking of Roman culture. It's not "Original Research" as many asserted.
- Heck, I went to a Roman site in Croatia in 2006, and got a picture of the expression posted up where they do lectures for school kids. I didn't post that photo specifically because I _didn't_ want to be accused of OR. The expression is a historical one, which I can cite via online sources. It is part and parcel of Roman popular culture and history. It has a recurring theme in society all the way up to recent American usage as part of a hoax about a supposed secret Apollo moon mission.
- This is not original research. It's all up there to be found by Google, and it is all written in articles I am citing, and in textbooks about Roman society, or at historical sites in Europe, like, where Romans lived. I found it ludicrous how quickly it got AfDd. More can be found on my talk page.
- I needed to take a break from Wikipedia because of the way I felt this was mishandled. Utterly un-Wikipedian. I really want to contribute more, but how can you do it if things are AfD'd within 2 minutes of creating the stub of an article? It was not offensive or threatening anyone -- except perhaps as an idea they hadn't really wanted to consider. Multigenerational thinking in the world of 30-second newsblasts, ADD, and short-attention span theater. How nutty! Ironic?
- Thanks greatly, Phil! I'll do my best to make it better, then resubmit it for review. --Petercorless (talk) 06:07, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Deletion Review of NewsCred
Hi - now that NewsCred has officially launched and was covered in many notable, mainstream news sources (BBC, Reuters, Businessweek), would like to review the deletion and restore. ==Deletion review for NewsCred== An editor has asked for a deletion review of NewsCred. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Thanks. --2knowledgeable (talk) 15:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Hello there. I noticed you deleted the images (uploader by the above user) I marked under CSD. I reported at ARV for a block of 24 hours so that he has a chance to learn the image use policy. You may check for this user's repeated image-related vandalism on commons as well. Thoughts? Mspraveen (talk) 15:48, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Mspraveen, thanks for cleaning up the copyright infringements. At the moment, I'm inclined to see if he has stopped uploading copyright infringements, if he has then I won't block, and if he hasn't I'll block indefinitely. PhilKnight (talk) 15:51, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi PhilKnight. The above was deleted by your good self perfectly correctly per this discussion. However, since then several sister articles have also been to AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of number-one albums in Australia during the 1970s which closed as Keep. I did participate in the later discussion and my view was that the lists should be kept. The creator is understandably upset and would like to reinstate the said 1960s list. As the arguments are identical, I wonder if you have a view per consensus can change. Your comments would be appreciated. Moondyne 00:14, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Moondyne, thanks for posting. I agree with your appraisal of the situation - nobody has done anything wrong, but we are left with contradictory closings. I'm not comfortable with unilaterally overturning the result of a debate that was almost unanimously delete to keep, so could I suggest that you open a deletion review discussion, and propose an overturn? This would allow me to express a 'no objection', and then if there is a consensus to overturn, the situation would be resolved. Again, thanks for your involvement. PhilKnight (talk) 00:33, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks mate, will do. Moondyne 00:57, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

RfC confusion
Hey. A couple days ago, you deleted the Utcursch RfC as not meeting the two certifier criteria, and moved goingoveredge into approved. When I checked the history of them, I found the same two users certified both the RfCs. Ergo, the fact that one survives and one does not is a little confusing to me. Just checking to see why one was approved and one deleted. Wizardman 16:04, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hey also. Have a look at Special:Undelete/Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Utcursch - only 1 editor, ergo non-compliant. PhilKnight (talk) 16:48, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Looks like I read it wrong, you were right. I'll probably be keepign an eye on the open one, something doesn't seem right about the two certifiers.. Wizardman 18:38, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
RFAR alert
One of the arbitrators has asked that every admin who is arguably involved in the events at Sarah Palin be notified of an arbitration case covering it. I therefore draw your attention to Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration#MZMcBride. In your case, you are, like me, one of those who made an edit to the article while it was full protected. Thanks for the help
Just wanted to say thanks for helping me out. That IP has got to be a fellow student at W&M who just went to my user page to screw up and vandalize as many of my pages as possible. Unfortunately I'm not an administrator so I couldn't just block him immediately myself. If after the 48 hours are up and that person decides to continue vandalizing, I'm going to come right back to you to have them blocked (is forever possible?). -Jrcla2 (talk)(contribs) 20:33, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Jrcla2, glad to be of assistance. Blocks for IPs normally increase in small jumps until they reach a year. PhilKnight (talk) 20:37, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
Hello! I just wanted to pass along my thanks for your support in my RfA from earlier this week. I hope I did not disappoint you. I am going on Wikibreak and I will let you know when or if I am back on the site -- I am trying to take time away to clear my thoughts and refocus on this and other priorities. Be well. Query on block
Hello. Just curious as to why you blocked 91.111.124.182 (talk · contribs). It appears that the editor is not currently active (they stopped editing nine hours ago), and it also looks like the IP has made zero edits since receiving their only warning. As the AIV report [1] failed criteria #2 and #3, I was going to decline the block request. --Kralizec! (talk) 23:25, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hello Kralizec, there are no good faith edits, and the criteria you mention are obviously just guidance and not the same as the blocking policy, however, I've unblocked. PhilKnight (talk) 23:33, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you, sir! --Kralizec! (talk) 23:45, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
