User page gallery help
[edit]Hi! User:MONGO suggested you were an expert on user-page design, and I was wondering if you could bring your expertise to bear on User:Guinnog/gallery; there are four images which do not display for me in either Firefox or IE. Any ideas? Thanks in advance if you can help. --Guinnog 12:02, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for your reply. Your comments are very kind; yes, these are all images I made myself, all the photos were taken by me and all the graphics were drawn by me, from the source materials cited.
- Basically, on my system, in both IE and Firefox, Image:EELightningEastFortuneJM.jpg, Image:SkaraBraeJM.jpg, Image:Castrovalleyeaster2004.jpg, Image:LeithNoEntry.jpg, Image:LeithBananaFlats.jpg and Image:DounreayJM.jpg do not display thumbnails but are left as blank cells in the gallery. User:CBDunkerson suggested it might be to do with a pop-up spam blocker I am running but disabling that doesn't seem to help. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2, if that helps. Thanks again for taking the time to try to help me and for your lovely comments. --Guinnog 15:28, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- No, the same six images still do not display even in your sandbox version. Maybe it is just a feature of my system that is causing it, in which case I wouldn't worry; as long as they are properly visible to others, that is fine. On the other hand, it is annoying and puzzling that some will and some won't come up. Thanks for all the trouble you're taking to help me. --Guinnog 15:57, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'll try not to worry about it any more. Thanks one last time for giving so much of your valuable time to helping with such a trivial problem. If ever there is anything I can do for you in return, just say. --Guinnog 16:28, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi. :)
[edit]Marúaweka! :) (Sorry if I used the wrong word :P) I'd just like to drop by and say hello, since Miss Snopake knows you, and the fact I happen to be Native American as well. :) (I really don't know if I am or not, however) So you live in Oklahoma, eh? I'm not a big fan of Oklahoma, but after my grandpa Joe died, my dad took possession of his house in Durango, Colorado- it's pretty nice, even though I still live in Indianapolis :P Well, just dropping by to say hello. Ciao/Adyos/Goodbye! (Italian, Tagalog, and English respectively :D) Øřêōş 14:20, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, okay. :) Mar
úawe! I'm not the person to ask about languages, anyway. :P (I can barely figure out a complete sentence in Italian besides Dov'è [noun]? :P) Ooh, thanks. I like your sig too. It reminds me of my grandpa Joe, same person I told you about. You really remind me of one place I love the most: Albuquerque, New Mexico. I don't know why, I just love that place for some reason. :P See you later! Øřêōş 13:55, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Grace under pressure
[edit]Nice home page (looking for a job?)
[edit]First off, thank you for your support on my RFA. Past that, you do make fantastic home pages! And, do my eyes deceive me or are you doing CSS-based web page layout?! I don't suppose you live in the Tampa Bay area and are looking for employment? Please say yes! :) —Wknight94 (talk) 16:26, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ah well, my loss. :( Thanks again for your support and, seriously, if my RFA succeeds, let me know what admin backlog needs to be addressed and I'm all over it. Keep me in mind if you're looking for more sunshine than you can handle! :) —Wknight94 (talk) 19:12, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
Regarding Edie Britt
[edit]Since I am new to Wiki, I was not aware of the rules as you have now explained them to me. I was also not aware that the community went through a debate regarding this, and would like to view that debate if possible. Is there a place to look where I can find this , and more about the community?
I do appreciate the help, and only posted myself up there as I get a lot of grief about not being on the site from my clients.
Thanks so much for your assistance. Edie Britt ~not the pretend one :) ps..your grandfather was a very wise man :)

Hello!
[edit]I’m going to guess you don’t know whom I am, well that really isn’t important. I just wanted to drop in and tell you that you are really an incredible user. You have contributed so greatly to the project, and helped keep peace and tranquility in a place that sometimes asks for horrible disputes. I’ve always seen what you’ve done from afar and wanted to say, you are such an important asset to the project and a great human being. Yanksox 05:19, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, concurred. Will (message me!) 07:39, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- I got here from Yanksox's page! I hope your personal matter gets resolved well, and you can resume the RfA. It's on my watch list. Wiki needs you!! Tyrenius 07:02, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for your comments on the editor review page, but I'm having a hard time trying to increase my activity on Wikipedia. I want to help contribute to the articles, particularily expanding them, but I don't have a clue as to how to expand articles or where to get information. I usually spend hours on Wikipedia trying to find places to contribute. But I want to be able to have a solid idea of what articles I want to contribute to instead of looking for random articles that I might want to contribute to. Please help me.

License tagging for Image:Moodmeter 7.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Moodmeter 7.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:09, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

You're amazing
[edit]I'm gonna have to find you a special award; just saw your revamp of the Indigenous peoples project page(s). Whew. Haven't written much in that topic area lately but what you've done will sure help navigate the project in future. Now if only I could get the crowd at Wikipedia:WikiProject Vancouver to organize themselves a tenth as well (trying to get a WikiProject BC going, but...). Been thinking for a while of asking you to revamp my userpage, but I have to fuss with the content there yet anyway...in the meantime here's some scenery for you to enjoy from my home turf http://www.cayoosh.net/mountains.html (more scenics indexed off main cayoosh.net page)...by the way pics on Fraser Canyon are my own, and taken from a place called Fountain, known in local St'at'imc and Secwepemc traditions as one of the three homes of Coyote on the continent.Skookum1 16:32, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Quickie format question: I just tried adding a portrait/mugshot to my talk page but it conflicts with the Wikibox stack that was already there; other than it's maybe too big, what's the best way to lay out something like this, and still have the intro text show when the page is first opened? Thanks for any advice; advanced wikicoding is all new to me, and I was never that good with HTML in the first place...Skookum1 00:07, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Melancoly
[edit]Sorry to see you're a bit down Phaedirel...maybe a joke will help!!!
Okay, here goes *ahem*

Didn't work? Okay then, try some of this:

- You love cadbury? That's fantastic!! Most the american's I know (granted, that is very, very few) don't like it, and I was considering putting up a Hurshey bar! It's kind of comferting to know that everything will work itself out, just as you say about you're current state of mind. Anyway, anyone as lovely and kind as you is allowed to feel down now and then (just as long as it isn't too much ;D) Love the mood meter, by the way. You're really smart to make stuff like that. My user and talk page look childish by comparison...

US artice section
[edit]Hi again (I'm filling up this talk page, huh?).
I need to ask your advise on an edit I recently did on the U.S. article. On the talk page I saw that there were calls to add more to the article about Native Americans, as they only had about one sentence. Seeing as no one else seemed to actually do the work, I decided to take it upon myself. To cut a long story short, would you very much mind taking a look at the section that I started and telling me how good/bad I've done, along with correcting any mistake (though there shouldn't be many, as I borrowed heavily from the Native Americans in the United States article.) I know you're quite busy at the moment, so no rush, just take a look when you've got a spare second. Thanks, darling ;)
Your friend, baring hugs and warm wishes, Thε Halo Θ 10:20, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

My prescription for melancholy
[edit]Hey there; picked up that you're down in spirits...how can this be, towagh tenass? ("little bright one" in the jargon) You're such a fount of joy and inspiration around here. My tamanassman (medicine man) prescription is that you should drop everything and go find somewhere to immerse yourself in dance, or if you're a musician or singer just go play or sing for a few days. Music hath charms not only to soothe the savage beast but also to lift the spirits of those burdened by the weary world...I don't usually watch Dr. Phil but one day it was on and he had a thing on music education in America; one of his experts said serious scientific studies had shown playing or dancing to music is ten times more effective in resolving depression (and melancholy) than any SSRI on the market. As if we needed to be told that, given our instinctive knowledge of what music does for and to us when we experience it; and better from the inside out than just piped in by loudspeaker. Go revel, let the spirits take you and unlock whatever it is inside you that's locked. I know when I'm in a funk - all too often - once I play my guitar or get my booty shaken I'm a lot better for it; unstop the unconscious mind, which is by far the better part of us IMO; and disengage from the huge workload I gather you've assigned for yourself, marvellous though it is. "For the sky, the sky, the sky is made out of blue" (one of my recent lyrics...).Skookum1 01:22, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Personal Question
[edit]Hi we haven't met before. I was reading the Comanche article and stumbled upon your user page in the history. I have a question, at the bottom of the article it says only one percent can speak the language. I was wondering whether you speak it? Have there always been so few Comanches? I mean, when Columbus and his buddies came over here they managed to kill about the entire native population in North and South America, mostly through disease and other unpleasantries. Anyways, I don't think I've seen a person this adored by so many Wikipedians, and rightfully so. It's too bad you're feeling down. Since it's 12 pm ( I think Oklahoma uses EST or maybe CST), have a good night! Pleasant regards, --PerfectStorm (Hello! Hallo! Bonjour! Holla!) 04:24, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for Supporting my RfA!
[edit]Thank you for supporting my RfA, which (albeit ending about a month ago) passed by a margin of 54/6/1. Now you may be asking yourself why it has taken me this long to thank you for your support. The following factors all attribute to why it has taken me an extremely long time. Firstly, I am hand-crafting each and every one of these thank yous. Secondly, I was intensely following the FIFA World Cup. Lastly, I have been busy with other activities outside of Wikipedia. Sorry for the tardy thank you, and if you ever see me do anything that is not admin-like, please let me know. Thanks again, Ian Manka Talk to me! 19:10, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi there!
[edit]- Hi Phaedriel! Seven months, eh? The time sure does fly! Thanks for the congrats! In regards to a possible RfA, I'd certainly be willing to take on a bit of extra responsibility and would welcome a discussion to see if the community would like me to do so. Native American topics
[edit]Good afternoon, Phaedriel (it must be about...*does the maths* 5:40 PM in your part of the world, right?) Thanks for your kind words about my section in the US article, they mean a lot. The choice of pic was simple, btw. Something that showed a native american not as a stereotype, but as a normal human being (the fact that I see it every time I come to your page didn't hurt, I'm sure :D). I have to admit though, the words weren’t all my own, because while I am interested in native American topics, I still don't know very much (so anything you tell me to read I gratefully will. I'm a good student, I promise :) I really got interested about the subject after reader 'Friends of the Wolf', a book by Robert Carse about two Penobscots. I found it really interesting at the time (stuff like the Algonkian (the book says Algonkian, but isn't it really Algonquian?) pronunciation of the word English being 'Yengeese', which is how we get the word 'Yankee'!) and I've been looking stuff up on and off since then. Anyway, I've been rambling on for a while now, so I hope you okay, and I thought I'd tell you that Snopake enjoyed her hug, even if she did just think I was really tired, and was hugging her because I wanted to go back to bed or something before I explained. I'll be on here a while longer, finishing off my userpage renovations (though I should get to bed because we've got a new puppy, and we've got to get up early every morning, but...nah, I'll stay up) Lots of hugs. Thε Halo Θ 22:48, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Glad to see...
[edit]…that you are feeling better now! (That mood meter does not go un-noticed, trust me. ;) My cold, also, is slowly receeding away, and I will eventually have to take the Wikibreak notice off my page. Just so you know, if you ever need a shoulder to cry on, don't hesitate—or if it's of a nature such as could not be discussed on Wikipedia pages, you could use my alternate means of communication. I would always love to hear from Wikipedia's only ½-Comanche, ¼-Finnish, ¼-Irish Oklahoma twenty-something angel with the kindest heart on the Internet. ;) (By the way, are you a member of Esperanza?) —It's The Cliff! 00:45, 14 July 2006 (UTC) P.S. Pool-stub
[edit]I was taking a peek at the disambiguation links of stuff linking to Pool, and I noticed that {{Pool-stub}} includes a link to Pool. I'm guessing that it should just link to Billiards (as opposed to, say, Swimming pool), but I thought I'd ask you about it, seeing as you created the template and everything. Would you have any objections to changing the link? Let me know -- thanks. --Elkman - (Elkspeak) 21:17, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
