Hey! Thanks a lot for the nice welcome. PerfectStorm 22:04, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I'd suggest you write that town article at Crocker, South Dakota, since that seems to be the standard naming convention for places in the states (see category:Towns in South Dakota, for example). Take care. Flowerparty 00:12, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your compliments!

[edit]

I have to say that they are the nicest compliments that I've ever had. Thank you for your compliments! 百家姓之四 02:04, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sonnets

[edit]

Please don't create articles which contain nothing but the lines of a poem. If you don't have anything to say about the sonnets, then maybe you shouldn't create the articles yet. Original source of poetry, etc., goes at Wikisource. User:Zoe|(talk) 01:57, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Popups Problem

[edit]

No, I'm afraid that I don't know how or why that happens to you. Maybe you should post on the talk page of the navigation popups page. PCEevee talk 12:04, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reverts

[edit]

You seem to have double summaries for reverts. Try removing the "User:Voice_of_All/Revert/monobook.js" inclusion script, since this is already included in VoA/monobook. Thanks!Voice-of-All 18:30, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Different languages, different orthographies

[edit]

Hello, your cooperation at Zygmunt Bauman is certainly appreciated. Note, however, that this "correction" is absolutely unwarranted, as profesor (one "s") is indeed the only correct spelling in Polish. Please try and avoid changing the spelling of non-English references or quotations unless you really know what you are doing. --Thorsten1 23:25, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nonsense Article

[edit]

A nonsense article was created at Jimmy Tolland, seems like a teen wanting a biography of himself. I've blanked the page for now, and I'm hoping an administrator can delete it. Thanks. PerfectStorm 00:34, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PerfectStorm when a page like this appears tag it with {{db-nonsense}}. I've tagged it with that. An admin will delete it faster because she or he will notice the page in the category. ForestH2 00:36, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also if it's nonsense use {{db-nonsense}}. Never use the tl. Just the db-nonsense. If it's a nothing article and just a little bit of something use {{db-empty}}. When you created it and you want it deleted use {{db-author}}. ForestH2 | + | √+ | | √- | - 15:34, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

C-c-c-c

[edit]

Hello! I am sure this will interest you. Since you admitted to be User:C-c-c-c, who is banned, I reported that at User_talk:Andrew_Norman. As you can see, he let you off the hook for good behavior. To help you keep it up, I will keep an eye on you. --Zmaj 14:07, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Esperanza!

[edit]

Welcome, PerfectStorm, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC Tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Sweet dear PS

[edit]

Sweet dear PS, please allow me to tell you I'm so sorry about the belated reply to your incredibly kind words to me - no matter what I do, I always find myself having someone nice unreplied! :( But even if that means to stay awake all night, I swear I'll reply every message one of these days, I promise ;) Regarding your points about the Comanche, those are very interesting issues, hun. At some point, there were as many as 20,000 Comanches or so, tho scattered through different groups. The comanche were never a unified entity, but rather many related groups that spoke a similar Shoshonean language (in fact, we Comanches are the children of the Shoshone, whether we like it or not! ;) In the late XIX and early XX century, a massive effort to wipe away the Comanche language took place by reeducating the children and discouraging all kind of communication in that language. Unfortunately, it succeeded, and now only a handful of elders have it as their native language. Very few of us speak it fluently, and tho there is no danger that it gets completely lost as it has been extensively documented, in a matter of years it will be but a memory of our past, and join many lost costumes and bits of our culture. I can barely speak a some words and phrases, mostly from hearing them from my grandpa and other old people. It is a personal challenge of mine to learn it and be able to speak it someday. I only wish I had the time! :(

That was a long lesson! I get carried away when speaking of these matters, so please forgive my talktative mood, hun. It is a great pleasure to meet you at last; I've seen your name around, and it's always a motive of joy to be approached by someone as kind, nice and bright as you. Have a great week! :) Big hugs, Phædriel tell me - 01:52, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Flag_of_Germany article:

[edit]

Germany had 2 flags during 1934. So both flags in the dispute are correct. Do you know for sure what flag was flone during FIFA related events?--Greasysteve13 05:56, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. But I wanted to point out that both could have been used so it wasn’t necessarily vandalism. But considering we may well have a choice we should go with the less provocative of the two flags really.--Greasysteve13 12:37, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. But but the German speaking people may well have editing issue of their own. And the issue may be even more provocative. So who knows?--Greasysteve13 12:41, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah--Greasysteve13 12:42, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

August Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Arbitration request on Kosovo

[edit]

Dear Editor, since you have been involved in editing the Kosovo article in the last months, and that article has been the subject of long ongoing edit wars, your name is listed in the Request for Arbitration on this matter. You can make a statement here: Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration#Kosovo. Due to the large number of editors involved, however, I would to ask you to keep your statement concise and to the point. If you feel you have not been substantially involved in the disputes surrounding the Kosovo article, please do not remove your name from the Arbitration request, but rather make a short statement there explaining why you feel you have not been involved enough to be part it. To understand my reasons for requesting Arbitration, please read my statement on the Requests for Arbitration page. Best regards, Cpt. Morgan (Reinoutr) 10:16, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear PerfectStorm, reading your recent comments and having a look at your edit history I would understand it if you do not want to become involved again in the Kosovo article. I just want to assure you that you do not have to write a statement in the Arb request if you prefer to stay out of this dispute. Your name is listed, however, and it would be inappropriate to remove it at this stage. Best regards, --Cpt. Morgan (Reinoutr) 07:30, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

September Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!

November Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Kosovo: country debate

[edit]

Hello. There's a discussion going on Talk:List of countries as to whether or not Kosovo should be included in that list. You have an interest in Serbia-related articles and I thought you might be interested. The articles List of countries and Annex to the list of countries (where the inclusion criteria reside) are both relevant. Cheers. DSuser 13:37, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. It's probably a minor point, but there a discussion and vote going on at Talk:Kosovo#Kosovo:_terminology as to whether or not it's better to use Kosovo rather than Kosovan or Kosovar in the Wikipedia articles. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Toma Zdravkovic Album Cover Antologija 2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Toma Zdravkovic Album Cover Antologija 2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 09:01, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

coordinator election

[edit]

The Wikiproject History is going to elect 3 coordinators. As a member you are invited to participate. Wandalstouring (talk) 12:23, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
