Hey Pete, welcome to wikipedia! And thanks for all the work you're putting into those snooker articles. You might be interested in Wikipedia:WikiProject Snooker, which should be a good place to discuss all things, er, snooker. Anyway, I hope you decide to stick around. Standard welcome message follows :)...

Here are some useful tips for newcomers:

Hi,

I have seen you have edited and created many Snooker articles. I thought might be interested in joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Snooker, where you can discuss things all about snooker! Thanks . - Nick C 13:31, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

World Darts

[edit]

Nice job with the World Darts Championship historical section. I will add to it where I can. I've set up a template Template:World Darts Championship (first time I've tried it so let me know your comments) which can be added to the bottom of all world darts pages. I wish there were a few more darts editors to help.... Seedybob2 16:18, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NB: be careful with player links eg Bob Anderson needs to be listed as Bob Anderson (darts player) - Mike Gregory comes up as the rugby coach. But keep going! Seedybob2 19:58, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HI I have set up the [Category:BDO World Darts Championships] (just include [[ ]] around the wording) for you to put each of your annual entries into. I have already done 1985 and 1986 for you. Please look at the bottom of the pages and copy the category with each article. Also please add this category to all of your entries so far. Good work darts is very porrly covered on wikipedia - I created a few dart stubs earlier It would be great if you could at a later date start entries for darts players too. All the best Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:37, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HI nice work well done for using the categories but I have noticed a number of inconsistencies in your work. Looking at Bob Sinnaeve on some years 1984 he is Belgian while others he is English?. Peter Locke some years he is Welsh sometimes English. Please be careful and check after you have done it because it may be misleading. On the 1984 one the flag of Nicky Virachkul is messed up and often Boboby George reads Bobby Geroge so is in red ink

Also I thought the BDO chammpionship was different from the World Professional Darts Championship yet on the template darts box at the botton the BDO entries are under the World Pro CHampionship. Correct me if I'm wrong but is this right? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 11:51, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ernst Stavro Blofeld 11:48, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blofeld - before 1994 there was only one world championship - the BDO World Professional Championship was effectively the unified World Pro Championship so I set the template up accordingly. From 1994, the BDO & PDC need to be categorised differently. We could possibly re-name the events before '93 as "1979 World Professional Darts Championship" and so on, but then again we could also rename them "1979 Embassy..." - bit of a long-winded answer, sorry! Snooker championships

[edit]

What's your methodology for doing this work? Have you made a fill-in-the-blanks template article? Just curious if there's something you've done to make it less tedious. :-) — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 21:50, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work on WSC 2007

[edit]

Nice going! With your contribs we already have a decent article going and it is still a month until it starts! If you have any ideas for article development feel free to experiment - I created a "Notable Moments" chapter last year but I don't know if something more comprehensive and day by day could be created to allow better textural coverage of the championships (above and beyond the drawsheet). Again, nice work, SFC9394 23:06, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UK TV magazines

[edit]

If you're going to add a template, do it properly! See Template:UK TV magazines and use {{UK TV magazines}}. Cheers! Stephenb (Talk) 19:45, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Robin Galloway, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. -- Kesh 23:26, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grand Prix 1989 (snooker)

Please add your references to this article. Armbrust (talk) 19:38, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted the links that you have added to the article Now That's What I Call Music 4 (UK series) because none of them link to an article on the associated song. They link to a disambiguation page such as Passengers, an unrelated topic such as Warning Sign, or to an album that contains the song such as Farewell My Summer Love. There are no articles on these songs and do not require links to misdirected targets. Thank you. --Wolfer68 (talk) 18:38, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Pete Davis! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 139 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a search with the contents of 1999–2000 Aberdeen F.C. season, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 1998–99 Aberdeen F.C. season. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. [edit]

Hi Pete Davis, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as I've looked through your contributions and see that you've created numerous, valid articles. This flag will pretty much do nothing... it simply reduces the workload on new page patrollers by just marking the new pages you create as patrolled automatically - that's it. If you want more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. That's pretty much it... Happy editing, dude! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:43, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, 1899–1900 Hibernian F.C. season

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, 1899–1900 Hibernian F.C. season. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – 1900–01 Hibernian F.C. season. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at 1900–01 Hibernian F.C. season. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. ... discospinster talk 21:41, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Classic (1980 & 1981)

[edit]

Hi Pete. Good work on creating the Classic (snooker) articles. I have moved 1980 Classic (snooker) to 1980 Classic (1979/1980) and 1981 Classic (snooker) to 1980 Classic (1980/1981) to keep in line with other snooker article title formatting e.g. 1999 British Open (1998/1999) and 1999 British Open (1999/2000). The two original titles will serve as re-directs. Hope you don't mind me making this move on your behalf. Andygray110 (talk) 01:55, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Copy and paste

[edit]

Please could you stop using the "copy, paste, fix later" method to create new articles based on existing articles. If you want to use an existing article as a model, may I suggest that you create yourself a sandbox page, paste the existing article into the sandbox, make all the necessary changes and only then use it to create the new article. Otherwise you present confusing, incorrect information such as 1970–71 Texaco Cup, which appears to contain information about the 1971–72 competition. Thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 23:46, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve 1931–32 Carlisle United F.C. season

[edit]

Hi, I'm Boleyn. Pete Davis, thanks for creating 1931–32 Carlisle United F.C. season!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please add your references. 'External links' just means 'suggestions for further reading' - if the link you had there was actually your source, please move it to the references section.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

1971–72 Everton F.C. season

[edit]

When creating a new article, e.g. 1971–72 Everton F.C. season, while it is perfectly acceptable to use another article as a template for layout, you shouldn't really copy and paste info across with the intention of overwriting with the new details later. If you can't fill in all the correct information in one edit, either do it in small stages or copy it elsewhere (e.g. your sandbox or a text file on your computer) and do the work there. It is misleading to have information for one season in a different article. I'm sure I've mentioned this to you before. Thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 23:25, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Based on your creation of 1969–70 Everton F.C. season, it seems you continue to ignore my request. Do you even read your talk page? --Jameboy (talk) 16:59, 13 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sources and communication

[edit]

Can you please respond to my last message? Sources are important, see WP:V and WP:BURDEN for more information. It is also WP policy that it is mandatory to communicate when other editors raise concerns about your editing, please see WP:CONDUCT and WP:DISPUTE, as well as the essay WP:ENGAGE. Please respond to the messages from myself and other editors. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 20:15, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please respond to the messages other editors have taken the time to send you? You've been editing Wikipedia for more than 12 years now, so should know the ropes, but if you need help, just ask me or at the WP:TEAHOUSE. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 08:44, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's good that you replied above to acknowledge you had read the messages, but you created another unreferenced article hours later, 1912–13 Woolwich Arsenal F.C. season. Why? Do you understand how to reference? Will you add references to the articles you've created? Boleyn (talk) 16:01, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As you didn't respond, please work on this in draftspace. You've also created yet more unref articles since my message - Draft:1905–06 Woolwich Arsenal F.C. season, Draft:1907–08 Woolwich Arsenal F.C. season, Draft:1908–09 Woolwich Arsenal F.C. season, Draft:1906–07 Woolwich Arsenal F.C. season now in draftspace. An article you recently created, 2002–03 Carlisle United F.C. season, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Nomination for deletion of Template:World Matchplay Snooker

Template:World Matchplay Snooker has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. Frietjes (talk) 15:15, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Pete Davis. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2002–03 Carlisle United F.C. season".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. CptViraj (📧) 10:12, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Snooker World Doubles requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". 1982 World Snooker Championship

[edit]

Hi, please could you add in, or let me know, the source for the dates and venues for qualifying that you added in 1982 World Snooker Championship? It's not in The Times source cited. Thanks. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 01:00, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article 2002–03 Gretna F.C. season has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Stats article that does not meet WP:NSEASONS criteria for presumed notability and there is nothing remarkable enough about this season to suggest a WP:GNG pass either. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information nor is it a sports almanac.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The article 2003–04 Gretna F.C. season has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Stats article that does not meet WP:NSEASONS criteria for presumed notability and there is nothing remarkable enough about this season to suggest a WP:GNG pass either. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information nor is it a sports almanac. Gretna F.C. is such a short article that it would be more appropriate to have a couple of lines in the article about the season than a separate stats article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
