Request reason:

I did add information to the encyclopedia for the Toll Brothers page. I added information regarding a development in an Idaho community to the "Disputes" section. I included links to the community website, and even information about a community meeting to address said issues. I simply was having some fun at the top and making fun of them with a single line, and it has been removed.Partygnome1234 (talk) 20:17, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This doesn't come close to addressing your blatant personal attack. Yamla (talk) 22:03, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User:Partygnome1234. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:01, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I should not have lashed out at you, I apologize. You were just doing your job.

I will note that I did add vital information in the "Disputes" section, as I am in the know and have been informed of that information.

Also, I live with others, and while I am the only one that was stupid, by banning my IP from editing you have removed that ability for everybody I live with. That's not fair to them as some update Wikipedia regularly. Could we at least just ban my user or something instead?

Thanks. Partygnome1234 (talk) 21:34, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps in the future you will consider the consequences of your actions before you do them. Other, established users on your IP are free to request unblock should it affect them. 331dot (talk) 15:37, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct that I need to consider how my action affect those around me. However, I had no way of knowing that my block would IP related, and not simply a user block, but thank you for the reminder that I need to be aware of how my actions are perceived. Partygnome1234 (talk) 15:45, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Can anybody help me out, please? I removed the hurtful comment Partygnome1234 (talk) 21:52, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You should've stopped digging while you had the chance. I will fix your unblock reasoning above, however if an admin declines it then I suggest you wait before making another request. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 21:53, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the assistance Blaze Wolf! Partygnome1234 (talk) 21:56, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yep. I came across you removing your rude comment while perusing SWViewer and thanked you for it since that shows that you do have some intention of performing constructive edits. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 21:58, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I absolutely do, I just let that interaction get out of hand! Partygnome1234 (talk) 22:11, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yamla, I didn't realize I was blocked for the personal comments? That's why I didn't address it in my unblock request, I thought I was blocked for the edit I made.

I did remove my comment and apologize for them and then Blaze Wolf came to my rescue.

If I had known the block was regarding my attack I would have included that instead of doing it the way that I did Partygnome1234 (talk) 22:14, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thank you for clearing that up. Is there a way for me to send another unblock request now that I am fully aware of the issue? Partygnome1234 (talk) 22:24, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I apologize for not knowing my hurtful comment to the poor admin I insulted was included in why I was blocked the first time. If I had known that, I would have included it in my unblock reasoning. I did go back that same day, and remove my hurtful comment, and publicly apologize to that admin, and please know that I simply was having a bad day that day, and had/have no intention of using wikipedia incorrectly. In fact, at that same time that day, I made a valuable contribution to the "Disputes" section of the Toll Brothers page, as I am in the know about a an active dispute. I included website links and a date for a meeting that will be happening to address that dispute. I thank you for taking the time to consider this, and for my future unblocking. I am new to wikipedia, and while I am still learning the rules, what I said was inappropriate to that kind admin, just doing their job. Thank you.

Hi there. Could I at least request to just block my user and not IP then? There are others I live with that this block will harm? Thank you Partygnome1234 (talk) 15:05, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

NinjaRobotPirate I'm sorry, can you explain something to me? I read through all of the unblocking information available for me currently; and in what I read, it stated that it was best to give the benefit of the doubt and somebody who is hell bent on breaking the rules will just be blocked again soon. I was able to remove all of my wrong doing, apologize for my comment, remove my poor edits and explain that I regret my actions. In addition, I started the wikipedia adventure game to educate myself further on how to make constructive edits. In my unblock requests, I mention that I was simply having a bad day and I let me emotions influence me to make some bad choices, as well as the fact that I really do/did have relevant information to add that was helpful for the encyclopedia as I mentioned before.

So, how is me making a poor choice my VERY FIRST TIME ON WIKIPEDIA, immediately regretting it, educating myself, apologizing and then moving along evidence that you "don't need my help"? That doesn't seem to fit the idea of benefit of the doubt. I'm not trying to upset anybody by bringing this up, I just want to make sure that this decision to NOT unblock me was made knowing ALL of the FACTS, and not just one single isolated edit that I made, that has already been addressed like four times. Your wikipedia user page says, and I quote, "We're all here to make a better encyclopedia, and there is room for everyone." and I still don't understand how somebody trying to better themselves that made a poor choice their very first time editing doesn't fall into that mindset.

I would LOVE the ability to help educate others on topics that I am well versed in by editing this website, and that blessing has been taken from me, and nobody seems to understand that humans make mistakes.

Could you explain that to me? Thank you. Partygnome1234 (talk) 15:34, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You could post here on your talk page an example of something encyclopedic you'd like to add to Wikipedia. Maybe that might convince someone that you can edit constructively. Then make another unblock request. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 19:54, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds great! I live near a Toll Brothers community and it has been brought to my attention that they have a current active dispute. As I added before, hundreds of residents in their Oak's Community in Idaho met with the leaders of the company through a public forum, regarding new additions to their community and HOA representation, and presented them with a petition including 300+ signatures in an attempt to have Toll Brothers removed from their HOA. They have had sole control for almost 10 years in that area, and the residents are seeking to change that. The meeting was last night (May 18th).
I added this before, but since my initial comments (during my bad day earlier in the day) were understandably flagged, nobody took my edit seriously. If needed, I could provide links to video from that meeting that were sent my way. I am simply in the know about this subject, and wanted to contribute to the encyclopedia.
--
Also, I'm sorry, but me needing to do this seems really out of line. As I mentioned, the unblocking request requirements simply stated that I needed to show that I understood why I was blocked; which I have clearly done like FOUR times, take necessary steps to rectify the situation; which I have done, and mentioned multiple times, and show concrete steps that I have no plans of getting blocked again. Do you really think I would post on my talk page DAILY, publicly apologize to the admin, admit my wrong multiple times and then simply do the same exact thing again? Do you think I'm that dumb?
I understand that you want to keep wikipedia safe, and I understand that I changed a few things during a bad day; but your reasoning for not unblocking me during my second request is stated as such: "No thanks. We don't need your help." In my opinion, this seems far too close to Admin Abuse. You didn't provide me a REASON for the denial beyond insulting me, after I have CLEARLY shown you like FOUR TIMES that I had/have no intention of wrong doing. This seems to me that you were simply mad at/pissed off at me for what I changed, and can't simply seem to get past it. I apologize if I am out of line in saying this, but if I am following the rules to a TEE, and have stated FOUR times my intentions and even made concrete steps to rectify it, simply saying "No Thanks. We don't need your help" seems really inappropriate. Partygnome1234 (talk) 20:09, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, everytime I try to use the unblock template, I am able to fill in the information, and it looks the way it should, but then when I click "send", my reply is empty. Could somebody possibly help me out, and maybe explain what I am doing wrong? Thank you! Partygnome1234 (talk) 17:17, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there! Is anybody able to help me figure out why my unblock request isn't showing up? See my reply 17:16, 20 May 2022... and to me it looks empty. Thanks. Partygnome1234 (talk) 16:45, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, random talk page passerby here - looking at the page history, I see you added nowiki tags to one of your previous requests, which Blaze Wolf subsequently fixed for you (by removing them). Are you adding nowiki tags again? 199.208.172.35 (talk) 17:09, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest, I am brand new to wikipedia, so I don't even know what nowiki tags are... so if I added them it was accidental! Partygnome1234 (talk) 17:20, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Why don't you do this - reply to this comment, copy+paste the following into the edit window: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, replace the part that says "Your reason here" with your reason, and hit the reply button so it posts. We'll see what transpires. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 17:37, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

As pointed out by NinjaRobotPirate, evidence needed to be seen that I am here to provide value for the encyclopedia here on wikipedia. I deeply and truly apologize for my previous actions, and my moronic attitude initially. That was my very first time on wikipedia, and I was having a really bad day. I do want to contribute to wikipedia in a constructive way, as I love to learn and would therefore love to be able to share what I learn with others if the time presents itself. As per NinjaRobotPirate, a constructive edit that I would make is on the Mountain View High School (Idaho) page. That page lists state tournament victories for specific sports, and having attended and graduated from there in 2014, I am aware of one that is missing. Back in 2019, the Boys Varisty baseball team went on to win the 5A state tournament (https://www.idahostatesman.com/sports/high-school/article230447644.html) and the summer of 2018 before the school semester, their American Legion boys baseball team, went all the way to the American Legion World Series (https://www.legion.org/baseball/242843/final-eight-teams-set-2018-alws). I would love to be able to add these edits, and I am currently still reading about how to add references the correct way. I publicly apologized to the poor admin that I insulted, and immediately after removed my response, and I have even started the wikipedia adventure to ensure that I know how to edit wikipedia the right way going forward. I never meant to get blocked in the first place, and I can promise/guarantee that it won't happen intentionally going forward. I have learned that hold my tongue when I'm having a bad day, and not to drag those around me down. While I am still completely brand new to editing this site, that is not an excuse for the words I chose to use and the actions I chose to utilize. Please, feel free to read my talk page in its entirety to see that I am working VERY hard to right my wrongs. Again, I emphasize my deepest apologies for my actions, and I look forward to editing wikipedia in good faith with you all going forward. Thank you! Also, It was brought to my attention to check out WP:RS, I apologize that I did not know this was a thing, but I will be reading the page in its entirety! Thank you. Partygnome1234 (talk) 1:44 pm, 23 May 2022, Monday (2 months, 5 days ago) (UTC−4)

Accept reason:

Yeah, a bunch of weird formatting was added to your request. I've removed it. Not sure why that's happening. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 17:47, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for you help! Hopefully I won't ever have to use that unblock code ever again after this! :) Partygnome1234 (talk) 17:52, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think the problem is that you're using the visual editor to "reply". Apparently, when copy+pasted into the visual editor, that template link (in the thing I told you to copy+paste) does weird stuff. Maybe don't copy+paste next time (if there is a next time), just type it out by hand. I prefer using the source editor myself, but newbies do get scared off by it. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 17:55, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Good thoughts! I am actually a seasoned software engineer, so the source editor isn't a huge thing! I just had never used it before! :) Thanks again for your help, and I will keep the copy+paste issue in mind if there's a next time! Partygnome1234 (talk) 17:57, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, cool, then you'll probably understand a slightly more technical explanation: the blue link in the line I told you to copy is a link to the unblock template documentation (click on it yourself if you'd like). The source editor simply renders that link as plain text, and everything is peachy; but apparently the visual editor sees it, gets confused, and makes a mess (not uncommon with the visual editor in my limited experience ;) ).
On a somewhat related note, reading what you posted above, I saw this: I could provide links to video from that meeting that were sent my way. I am simply in the know about this subject, and wanted to contribute to the encyclopedia. While you're waiting for an unblock review, you might want to take a gander at WP:RS. It's a very long read, but the reviewing admin might have some questions about your understanding of Wikipedia's sourcing requirements, and that page outlines them. At tedious length. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 18:12, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh man, you are a literal lifesaver!! I honestly had no idea! Thank you for bringing that to my attention! Partygnome1234 (talk) 18:15, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, it's been a while since I submitted my unblock request. Could somebody take a look, please and thank you? :) Partygnome1234

Unblock discussion

[edit]

Well, that unblock request is too long and to elliptical for me to make sense of. Please describe concisely and clearly how your edits merited a block, what you would do differently, and what constructive edits you would make. And that abuse log pointed out above takes the cake. Deepfriedokra (talk) 17:27, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I apologized profusely for my abuse mentioned above, multiple times and removed it as well. I was a first time Wikipedia editor, and let one bad day dictate my Wikipedia future. I sincerely apologize for being an ass-hat. I graduated from Mountain View High School (Meridian, ID) and noticed that the page is missing some state titles. Above, I tagged specific articles (obviously on the page itself I will do it according to the rules) that mention the state title, as well as a team that went to the American Legion World Series.
I had no intention of mis-using Wikipedia editing and I appreciate everyone's help with helping me better my editing etiquette and help me realize the error of my ways.
Thank you for your time and I hope this message finds you well! :) Partygnome1234 (talk) 03:29, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Justlettersandnumbers: I'm willing to unblock if you are. Deepfriedokra (talk) 18:05, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Noting that I had a chat with Partygnome off-wiki a while back that left me generally optimistic. I held off on commenting here because it felt inappropriate to review an unblock based on an off-wiki request, but now that DFO has weighed in, I'll say I concur in allowing a second chance. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 20:44, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Deepfriedokra, Tamzin. The original block here was mine but I unblocked almost immediately; Ponyo re-instated the block. This user got off to an unpromising start, but seems to want to actually contribute here, so should I think be allowed a second shot at it.
