"Genocide"

[edit]

I have heard, a few times before, arguments similar to yours regarding the use of the term "genocide" to describe the events which have occurred in Rakhine State. However, "A lot of NGOs call it a genocide but no country's government has" and "But what about the killings of Rakhine Buddhists and other minorities in Rakhine State by Rohingya assailants?" are not Wikipedia policy-based arguments. If several reliable sources call the events a genocide, then that is the terminology that will be used on Wikipedia.

As Penlite demonstrated at Talk:Rohingya genocide#Article title: "genocide" definition vs. Rohingya persecution, the use of "genocide" is common globally. It does not matter how you feel about the word's use as it is contrary to the majority opinion of authors deemed reliable, and that is what Wikipedia cares about.

If you keep making contested edits that are contrary to Wikipedia policy, you may be blocked for disruptive editing. If you believe you have a Wikipedia policy-based argument, make your case again at Talk:Rohingya genocide. CentreLeftRight 07:43, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
