User name policy

[edit]

Your user name gives the impression that your account represents a government. Since that is not allowed by Wikipedia policy you must not continue to edit using this name. You can request a change of user name by following this link. Breaking sticks (talk) 21:57, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

May 2018

[edit]
There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Longhair\talk 22:13, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

  • information Non-admin comment Are you affiliated with the Pakistan Government in any way? (i.e. are you a government officer, or do you work with or for the Pakistan government in any way? Even if you are just a clerk, you still need to disclose it if you could have a conflict of interest) If so, you need to disclose it immediately, especially if you are being compensated for those edits. Also, do read up on the various Wikipedia pages relating to a conflict of interest and promotional editing. You are also strongly advised against editing anything related to the Pakistan government if you do work for them, instead, please submit an edit request if you find any glaring errors. Rob3512 chat? what I did 12:56, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Hello Rob3512. I do not work for the Pakistan Government at all. I just formed the name PakGov initially because my edits were concerning the Local government in Pakistan. The current information on Wikipedia is wrong, since in 2015 changes were made to local government. Basically I couldn't think of any other name when creating my account to be honest. I can assure you I'm not a employee, clerk or related in anyway to any government ministry, department or political party. --PakGov (talk) 17:06, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Longhair: Which edits were so promotional as to require a block, beyond the username? I'm not seeing anything obvious, though admittedly I've only looked at the 50 most recent and even those I've only skimmed. —Cryptic 23:22, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Now you mention it, I'm not able to find the promo edits.-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 03:47, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My concerns were more along the lines of a username possibly representing the Government of Pakistan editing government related articles. I agree I perhaps should have suggested a username change in this instance and apologise for any overreaction on this occasion. I acted in good faith without checking fine detail but the initial thoughts were a gov associated person editing gov related articles. I hope this help and I wish this user well. -- Longhair\talk 23:51, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Edit-warring on Districts of Pakistan

[edit]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Hi Mar4d. Could you please intervene here and see the edits on Districts of Pakistan, which the user above is clearly making a mess of. Thank you. --HudairaViki (talk) 18:23, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please, read up WP:CANVASS, BTW, I do not mind Mar4d's intervention! Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 18:42, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You keep making changes to other pages such as Lahore District and Rawalpindi without providing any sources. Can you please stop and revert yourself until you provide a source. People here on Wikipedia do not know if your changes are right unless you provide a source. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 19:19, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The source is right here.[1] I've also provided it on the Local government in Punjab. I would suggest before hastily making reverts, that you familiarize yourself with how local government works in Pakistan...in particular in each province since each province has its own version of it. Thank you. --HudairaViki (talk) 20:01, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Add the source inside the article when you make your change to which this source applies so your changes are not considered unsourced. Although this source is primary but I will accept it, others might not be that flexible. There is no need for anyone to familiarize with the subject before editing a subject. That is the beauty of Wikipedia. We ensure through sources whether information is correct or not. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 20:20, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I was mentioned here if not mistaken. Perhaps I can be if help. What exactly seems to be the issue here. Summarize it clearly for me and i'll see what I can do to resolve this issue.--NadirAli نادر علی (talk) 21:26, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Khayaban-e-Allama Iqbal moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Khayaban-e-Allama Iqbal, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. Essays on talk pages

[edit]

Please do not write essays on article talk pages as you did at Talk:Hindi-Urdu controversy. You are welcome to make comments on the article content, or suggest new content, but they should be backed up by reliable sources. If you want to contest any claim that is made in the article but is not well-sourced, that is well and good. But you cannot contest sourced content with your WP:OR. Not following WP:Talk page guidelines will be considered disruptive. Thanks, Kautilya3 (talk) 09:08, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello HudairaViki, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Help City District Government Peshawar have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Government works in Pakistan are protected by copyright for 50 years. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:48, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
